I had to mail a document to my attorney across the country. I paid UPS over $100 for shipping with the guarantee that it would be delivered by a certain day; the UPS employee assured me that it would arrive on time if it didn't, I could come back into their store for a refund. The package arrived late. I went into the UPS location and another UPS employee looked the delivery up in the system and said there were no weather-related reasons the package should have been late, and I was eligible for reimbursement of the shipping fee. The employee directed me to the website where I could file a claim. Later I tried to file a claim and got the following message: "We are sorry your package was delayed. If you are seeking reimbursement of your shipping fees, please contact the store you shipped your package from and they can submit a request to UPS for a Guaranteed Service Refund." It listed this store's phone number, so I called and explained. The UPS employee on the phone was not only unhelpful, but condescending as well; he insisted that it must be user error despite the UPS website saying that the particular store I shipped from needed to be the one to file the claim. The employee told me he'd have the manager call me the next business day, so I thanked him and that was that. The manager never called. I can only assume the run-around they put me through was to avoid refunding me the over $100 I paid them for a service they didn't perform as promised. If a business doesn't do what they guarantee they're going to do, and then doesn't follow their own policies to make it right, why would I give them my business anymore? I say all this as a word of caution: I can live with untrained, rude, and slow-moving employees, but not service that doesn't do what it's supposed to do, or business practices that don't honor their own business policies. If you're shipping important documents that need to arrive somewhere by a certain date, proceed at your own risk with this UPS location.
