    GMMI administers my Federal Employee ****************** Blue Shield health insurance in Europe where I live and work as a physician for the ** Army at ********* Regional Medical Center. While traveling to **********, ******* I fell and had a facial laceration that needed stitches. I was taken to Amager og ***************** late FEB 25, 2023 and discharged a few hours later on FEB 26, 2023 after having 6 stitches placed. I paid the bill of ***** Danish Kroners on MAR 22, 2023. This was equal to $550.44. I submitted my required paperwork of the 1)Overseas Medical *************** Reimbursement, 2)the hospital bill with the description of "Emergency treatment. Acute treatment from February 25, 2023 to February 26, 2023. Diagnosis DS018. Open wound of other parts of head." and 3) my receipt showing proof of payment. Since submission, I have called GMMI more than 15 times to follow up on getting reimbursed. (I say more than 15 times as when I started to write down each time I called, I have 15 documented calls.) GMMI wanted an itemized bill from the hospital, which they didn't receive, as ******* has a socialized health care system that doesn't bill like that. Since I have been living in *******, I have seen other providers in ******* and got reimbursed with submitting the same paperwork like I described above without any further requirements. 1)A FEPBlueCross Blue Shield reimbursement form, 2)the provider's bill and and 3)proof of payment. I have spoken to a supervisor, *************************** multiple times without any resolution. Recently on 1/3/24 she stated she gave the information to the claims manager *********************. On 1/4/24 I received an email referencing claim 3095G00451P reflecting the date of service 2/25/23 and 2/26/23, requesting medical records for processing. This is their job to contact the provider for whatever information they want, not mine. I request your office's assistance in getting this ridiculous situation resolved with reimbursement.

    GMMI holds a contract with Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal Insurance Program to manage its overseas medical insurance claims. I have had two recent experiences with them in which they failed to arrange for my reimbursements that I was due within a 30 day time-frame. Each time they stalled and lied to me and told me my money was coming but it never appeared. The first time was for a claim in Guatemala for a hospitalization and it took them more than two months to finally pay. Now I am waiting for them to process another claim for services I paid for in Guatemala and they keep lying and lying. I have never in my life dealt with such unscrupulous and devious people who are paid out of my insurance premiums to take care of my claims. I hope the BBB is able to act to do something to punish this company or to advocate on my behalf or to talk with their parent company, BC/BS. GMMI didn't actually open the second of the claims mentioned above until the final day of the thirty day period in which they have to issue payment; instead they demanded further information and still have not processed payment. It is pretty clear that this is part of their business model. In the latter incident I was left waiting on Christmas eve for them to issue payment and I am nearly destitute in a foreign country while I wait on them to finally pay me what them owe.
