I am rejecting this response because:
1. The person you sent spoke no English except to threaten. 2. No counter offer was provided to me in writing. I invite you to provide evidence otherwise. 3. May was 2 months ago not 7 years ago. 4. I have been scammed. I will not provide a scammer of evidence of their scam. Without a return of the car or the remainder of the offer the car remains in illegal custody of a stranger. 5. Who gave you permission to take the car? What phone number and email have you been communicating with? Do you have a copy of the title? My license? Anything?
Sincerely,
******** ***********Business Response

1. This vehicle was picked up by *********************** in ********** **************. We have no control over how fluently their tow truck driver speaks English.
2. Your counter offer was presented to you in writing, by email, at *************** on June 3rd, 2025, at 12:11pm. Unfortunately our email processor only keeps records for 45 days ******************************************************************************************
We challenge the customer to search their inbox at *************** for the email from ************************************ with subject: "Have you sold your 2008 ****** Camry CE yet? You can also donate if you prefer! (claim# *******)". *************** is the email that was provided to us, which is different from the email they submitted this complaint under).
I have at least provided a screenshot of our system sending the email.
3. Two months in our industry is an eternity. The buyer who made the offer in May has not been active with us since June 1st (Which is why we sent the aforementioned email referenced above)
4. You were not scammed. You willingly sold your vehicle and allowed the buyer to take it. Again, we are not involved with pickups so we weren't there, but no evidence to the contrary has been provided even though it's claimed you have it.
5. We were not at pickup, but we have to assume someone who was there allowed the buyer to load up a vehicle that doesn't even roll due to missing or broken wheels onto their truck. This is a difficult process that takes plenty of time for someone to have stopped them if they had any inclination to do so.
We have been communication with:
Amanda ***********
************
***************
We would not have a copy of title or license as again, we are a national broker, not the local buyer in **************. This vehicle was also sold with a disclosure from the seller that there was no title available. *********************** would have more details on this.
This is the comment we have received from ***********************. Copy and pasted verbatim.
"HELLO GOOD AFTERNOON , THIS CLIENT WANTED ME TO PAY MORE FOR HER CAR AND IT WANS'T WHAT WAS AGREED ..AFTER I PUT THE CAR ON TOP OF THE TREILER SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE WANTED MORE MONEY FOR HER CAR ,I JUST HAD LOT OF WORK TO MOVE HER CAR ,FROM THE ******** HAS NO WHEELS AND ACCESS IS DIFFICULT, I PAID WHAT WAS AGREED [$155] AND PICKED UP THE CAR.."
I have attached our own screenshot of the text message conversation showing a TWO MONTH gap between the customer asking us what information is required and actually providing it.
Here is a both a link and a copy/paste of our FAQ page which is linked to from every page on our website.
*******************************************************************
---
For how long is my offer valid?
The scrap, salvage, and wholesale vehicle markets are extremely volatile and unfortunately our offers can change at any time until they are both accepted and all required information is provided. Once that information is provided the offer is locked in and guaranteed. Sometimes offers can be good for weeks and months, and sometimes they can change within minutes as our valuation systems often pull in real time market data.---
And with all of this said, we are still working with *********************** in ********** to have the vehicle returned. However, the vehicle does not roll and is extremely difficult to transport, so we are figuring out the best way to do this.

Hello, I am sorry for the trouble. It looks like this dispute was between the customer and the local buyer "***********************" in **********, **************. We are doing our best to mediate the situation.
From our perspective it looks like the $380 offer that was made was way back on May 23rd (It is currently July 22nd). This $380 offer had long since expired and the customers account was clearly showing $150 at the time they messaged us to try and move forward. They also received an email with the updated offer on June 3rd. Our team assumed, rightfully so given the circumstance, that the seller was accepting the $150 offer that was presented to them and had been in placefor six weeks prior to the incident. ADDITIONALLY, the catalytic converter on the vehicle was aftermarket, and our website is extremely clear and transparent that missing our replace converters will result in a lower offer. The buyer offered the $150 as a courtesy.
The customer had zero obligation to accept an offer they were not happy with. It is not entirely clear why the offer was accepted, except for a vague mention of a threat and blocking a vehicle, of which we have no details about because they refuse to share the alleged video.
We are working with "***********************" to have the vehicle returned at the owner's request and will update accordingly.

tHello, sorry for the trouble, this was certainly not an ideal situation and we understand the frustration.
The problem here was more of a technical one than a poor business practice. The buyer for the vehicle was our partner, "Peddle". Our software system talks to Peddle's system over what is called an "API" (application programming interface). In this case the customer selected a 2015 Jeep Cherokee "Altitude" model when they got their original offer. However, when the *** was provided later, Peddle's system changed and showed the standard "Laredo" flex fuel model and not the Altitude package. This changed the offer in their system.
Unfortunately, since Peddle is a whole independently run company and will not let us make any kind of overrides, we are beholden to the offer their system spits out at us.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for the trouble and with the customer the very best of luck in the sale of their Jeep.

We're sorry we couldn't help further. For further assistance I would recommend the customer reach out to the buyer, **********, directly. There is nothing more we can do because we are not the direct buyer on this vehicle like we are on many others.Initial Complaint

This is the first we are learning of this issue. There was absolutely no reason for a formal complaint, we would have been more than happy to help if you had simply reached out to us. This complaint also should have been filed with Peddle as they handle this portion of the process, not The Clunker Junker, but we're still more than happy to reach out to Peddle on behalf of the customer for a resolution. We are doing that now.

Was sell junk car, had title notarized today and sent picture. They said due to wrong date I needed new title. Theyve been emailing for a week to sell to them. I did as they said to do and now they are backing out. Due to their name being the buyer on notarized title, I now have to pay for new one. They are not returning my texts or emails. We agreed on a price last week, they are now making an excuse to back out.Business Response

This is a pretty strange complaint. In a smaller photo originally sent, yes, it appeared there was an error on the title. We received a close up and decided that it would likely not be a problem.
We scheduled pickup and the vehicle is good to go.
We did not back out. We were super responsive to all messages.
What gives here? This is so bizarre.

I was made an offer on my Jeep Laredo, to which I accepted for $415. I received an email confirmation that the offer was accepted And that I would be arranging pick up for the vehicle. Under contract law, once an offer is accepted, it cannot be withdrawn. ****** Upshqw from clunker junker emailed me and told me the offer was no longer available and that the next available offer was significantly less ($325). because of this fraud I was To the tune $90 which I immediately want to be paid back.Business Response

Hello, I am sorry for this trouble. I am unsure why this complaint was created, this issue happened after our normal business hours, 6pm ET, was taken care of within the very first minute of our next business day (Literally 10:01am ET).
The offer was reinstated to $415 and sent to the local buyer.

The Clunker Junker provided me with a quote for taking my old car. We set up a date for pickup and come the day of no one ever came. I contacted them and they said they were escalating the issue and that a manager of the tow company would call me back. No one contacted me. No one showed up and no one did anything about it. The clunker junker blames ***, *** claims the tow company is the problem but clunker junker said *** is the tow company. Seems like no one wants to take accountability for any problems they cause people. No one wants to fix it. End of story don't use The Clunker Junker they are basically a scam!Business Response

We were notified of this issue only 10 minutes before the close of business on Friday. We open for business at 10am on Monday.
We have had exactly *********************************************************************** We absolutely want to fix it, but we can't do it at 4:50pm on a Friday afternoon when everything closes at 5pm.
We, The Clunker Junker, have no involvement with pickup but we are working with *** to have this resolved. It should be resolved today, the very next business day.
Thank you,-****

I am rejecting this response because:
I was told by the driver that he was from ***** towing. He knew the offer and then when he arrived he informed he didnt really want it and gave me the lower price and I had no choice but to accept because if I did not my vehicle was going to be towed. The company knew that in advance and I believe they used this to take advantage of me.
Sincerely,
***** ********Business Response

Hello, we apologize again sincerely for the confusion here. Despite the customer not wanting to believe us, our local buyer, ***** towing, did not pick up this vehicle. ***** was told by the seller that the seller sold the vehicle somewhere else, hence the different offer.
***** towing is owned and operated by a single person, there is no one named ***** or ***** that work there, only ***** (See screenshots)
I am unsure what else to say or do. The seller is confused about who they sold the vehicle to. At the very least I have attached screenshots of all communication.

Unfortunately we still believe this customer is confused and we have more evidence that the driver did not pick up this vehicle than we have received proving they did. If the customer can provide some verifiable evidence for their claim, we will happily revisit this.Initial Complaint

I called clunker junkers today they scheduled a pick up for 5 p.m and it's is now 6:13 p.m and I texted the man I closed the deal with for the sale of my car and he didn't answer his text so I tried calling him way before 5 p.m and the man said the driver will be here shortly, I've been under the sun practically for over an hour. I stopped doing what I was doing which was tending to my son in which is in the hospital and I text the man at clunker junker and asked if he can find out the *** of the driver and still no answer in the profile/bio section it says that this company believes in making sure any transactions with a customer are stress free NOT! Can some one call them now? Please.Business Response

Would not give proper receipt for purchase. Then cancelled transaction.Business Response
Date: 07/03/2024
Hello ****, I'm sorry for the trouble. I am not sure this required a BBB complaint as we were in full contact with you and are having this resolved.
With that said, there is an unfortunate misunderstanding of how motor vehicle sales work here. The "receipt" is a called a bill of sale. The bill of sale document is a document that's created by the seller of the vehicle (that's you) and given to the buyer, it doesn't work the other way around. The bill of sale is also not a required document in ************* for a vehicle older than 10 years (your vehicle is a 2007).
Even still, if it makes you feel better, we will happily provide a document that acknowledges the sale, even though this document has no legal purpose or function and is certainly not a requirement.
Regarding the cancelation, it seems the local buyer says you became "hostile" after the misunderstanding with the bill of sale, and they did not feel safe or comfortable completing the transaction due to your behavior.
We have reassigned this vehicle to another buyer in hopes that this will be completed now that we have clarified how a motor vehicle sale works.
Thank you,
