      I took my car to be serviced here on May 24, 2024 before my family and I went on vacation. When we started our journey back home, the check engine light came on, the car started making a strange sound, and it started chugging when I stopped. It was a Sunday, so my family and I were stranded 9 hours away from home until we could get the car assessed the next day. I took it to get serviced Monday, and they determined negligence by the person who completed my oil change on 5/24/24. They screwed on the oil filter so hard it broke the seal causing all the oil to leave out of my car. I am seeking compensation for all charges incurred due to this negligence and lost wages as my boyfriend and I had to miss one day of work. I am also seeking a refund for my original service. The total is around $800.

      I have attempted to reach out to our customer several times today. 

      On 3/8/24, *********************** arrived to our facility to have work done to her vehicle which totaled to the amount of $842.30.

      On 5/25/24, ****** returned to have only an oil change performed at our location, for the total cost of $57.66.

      Please see attachments for reference. 

      I have attempted to contact ****** in regards to her most recent visit on 5/25. From what I am understanding, there has been a problem that occurred on her last oil change performed with us. 

      The oil filters used on the ** vehicles equipped with 2.4L engines have proved to have defective seals (an O-ring) that has caused us multiple issues recently, where the seal does not sit correctly after replacing it with a new one, and causes oil to leak from it after it has been replaced. We have recently corrected this problem by completely removing this batch of oil filters and acquiring a different brand of oil filters. It is unfortunate that ******'s vehicle has undergone the same problem we have experienced with other customer's vehicles recently. This is a problem we have taken notice to this past month only and have been correcting since.

      I am willing to offer ****** a full refund for her oil change service, which was $57.66. 

      ****** mentioned receiving a refund of some $800, but that does not seem to be of relevance, being that, this cost/work was performed prior to her most recent service, and did not experience any problems between that service, and her most recent before she left for her trip.

      Again, I have attempted to reach out myself in order to provide my sincerest apologies for any inconveniences this defect in parts may have caused her trip. I will advise, if possible, if you ever experience any issues, to take it to a local midas if nearby, as we coordinate with all midas's nationwide, in order to take care of our customers during situations like this, at no cost to our customers.
