    In July 2021 I was forced to relocate to Okinawa, Japan as part of military orders. I was told I could store my household goods that could be shipped to Japan anywhere I liked and would be reimbursed that cost. I chose to store them in Florida at Sparebox Storage, formerly Hammersmith Storage. The military lied to me and I've been paying roughly $200 a month for storage out of pocket and none of it will ever be reimbursed. When I called to close out my account with Sparebox Storage (6 June will be my last day before moving my things out of my unit) I was told that monthly rent isn't prorated and that I forfeit the remainder of the month's payment regardless of the fact that the unit will no longer be used and that I am getting nothing in return. I request a refund for the period of time from 24 May to 24 June that I will not be using the storage (6 June - 24 June).

    Hammersmith Storage (DBA: SpareBox Storage) Date of Loss: December 2nd, 2022
    Significant loss of our personal belongings (est. $25,000 loss of goods) while they were left brand new in storage at the SpareBox Storage in Pace, FL. Friday, December 2nd, showed up with movers to be mortified with substantial damage regarding all of our household goods and personal belongings. Verified with Santa Rosa County Health Department (Environmental Health) that due to the new property manager’s negligence at SpareBox Storage (previously Hammersmith Storage), to continue regulated pest control services in accordance to the FL Department of Businesses and Professional Regulations standards of operations, we have encountered Colonies of Cockroaches being embedded in our goods and belongings, along with Rat Feces and water bugs making home within our storage units. These units were NOT located beside one another (the rented units had 2 different units between the spaces; Unit M308 & M311). We have never had this issue occur even when it was previously Hammersmith Storage since they ensured pest control was maintained in and around perimeter and everyone’s units inspected upon complaint or claim made. The insurance that is paid for every month along with the storage fee is not affiliated with SpareBox (they are a separate entity, SBOATI Claims, they were clear to inform of) whom further stated they do not cover loss due to “vermin, insects, etc.” The property manager and SpareBox Storage refuses to credit us for even the last few months of payments nor the continued service towards these units and/or any options to help rid of the goods completely ruined in storage by being embedded with Rat Feces, active Cockroach Colonies and Waterbugs. In fact, erroneous documents were sent to me that I have attached showing I was paid to date all 2022 and no past due balance on invoices as shown below. I wouldn’t have been able to access premises due to new gate code system if not paid-in-full.
