I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a True Temper dual-wheel wheelbarrow that I purchased from ********** in early 2024. We chose this particular model and paid a premium for it because we needed a more stable option for both my wife and myself, compared to the single-wheel version. Unfortunately, shortly after the purchase, I was diagnosed with cancer and had to put all my outdoor projects on hold. It wasnt until approximately two weeks ago that I was able to resume work. While using the wheelbarrow to move dirt and small rocks never filling it more than halfway due to my current physical limitations the bottom of the wheelbarrow cracked. After researching the issue, I discovered that while this product is generally well-reviewed, many users have reported similar issues when the wheelbarrow is left exposed to the sun for extended periods. We live in *******, and had we been made aware of this vulnerability at the time of purchase, we would have selected a metal version instead. Additionally, I do not recall any signage or advice from staff indicating that the product needed to be stored in a shed or kept out of direct sunlight. Given the cost of the product and the limited use it has received, I am disappointed in the durability and performance. Ive attached a photo of the damage. I would appreciate it if you could advise on the next steps toward a resolution, whether that be a refund, exchange, or warranty support. Then we receive an email this afternoon that states "The issue you are experiencing would not be considered a manufacture defect but falls under the description of wear and tear."I guess they did not even bother to read the message.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Business Response

Complaint Description:I submitted a warranty claim to ****************** (makers of *****-Back tools) for three tools that failed due to what I believe are clear manufacturing defects including fiberglass handles cracking and a rake head that will not stay attached. These tools were purchased about six years ago from ********** and all are labeled as Razor-Back brand with a Lifetime Warranty. I provided all required photos as requested including close-*** of the damage and full tool images but was told they would only replace one tool as a one-time courtesy due to me not having original receipts.Their own warranty policy, which they sent me, clearly states that their limited lifetime warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product. Nowhere does it say a receipt is required for coverage, nor does it define lifetime as ending arbitrarily without documentation. In fact, their policy says:An **************** Lifetime Warranty lasts for the lifetime of the **** product warranty coverage ends when the product becomes unusable for reasons other than defects in materials or workmanship. The tools I submitted are not worn down they broke in ways that reflect poor quality or design. Fiberglass shouldnt crack under normal use, and a rake head shouldnt detach and stay loose with normal yard work. All I asked for was a fair review and replacement of the tools. I was met with a generic reply, an arbitrary one-time replacement, and no accountability for the rest. This isnt how a lifetime warranty should work, and it feels deceptive. I will not buy from any ****-related brand again unless they make this right.Desired Outcome:Full replacement of all defective tools submitted in my original warranty claim not just a one-time courtesy replacement.Initial Complaint

I purchased an **** **** Digging Round Point Shovel from ********** in Sept 2017, which it had 15 year warranty. I have used it normally and had taken good care of it. The wood handle was broken this month (Nov 2024). I emailed **** for a replacement, they denied my request for the reason of "normal wear and tear". Then I emailed **** again for their reconsideration, they declined again for the same reason. A broken handle is not normal wear and tear, it is clearly a quality issue that it could not last 15 years! Picture attached. Case number is ********.Initial Complaint

This BBB complaint is in reference to an unresolved complaint with **** opened 2024-05-29, re: wheelbarrow manufacture defects. **** has made no effort to fairly address this valid complaint, despite photo evidence **** requested on 2024-06-10 and were provided on 2024-06-11. All photos and correspondence with **** regarding this complaint have been retained and are available as needed. *** To date the following individuals provided unacceptable responses regarding this complaint: ***** *. Customer Experience Manager, ****** K Consumer Support Team Lead, *** *. Consumer Team Member *** On **** request, I made no small effort to describe and prepare photo evidence of manufacture defects that were present with the wheelbarrow on day one. This complaint is further backed by evidence from public records of numerous other customers struggling with the same defects upon purchase (*************** reviews). It is worth noting that efforts made to contact **** ********************* regarding this complaint have gone unanswered. Mr. ******* was asked to carefully review correspondence from ***** *. and ****** K; they chose to dishonestly frame obvious defects as wear and tear. That is deceptive, unacceptable behavior from individuals holding Manager and Lead titles. *** In the face of elaborate customer feedback, evidence of manufacture defects, and its unacceptable customer service, if **** were an ethical **********************, it would take responsibility and make efforts to make things right. It is especially troubling that senior leadership seems comfortable ignoring these serious issues.Initial Complaint

I have a True Temper Leaf Rake made by **** that has broken and is within its 15 year warranty.True Temper 30" Leaf Rake ******* It has a broken tine and its wood handle had broke last winter.I contacted **** customer service and was told to submit and email back 7 items of information. I was able to send all, but 1 piece of information and that was the receipt. I don't have the receipt any longer as it was over 6 years now since the purchase. **** continued to state that they needed the receipt or they could not guarantee the 15 year warranty although I replied back to ************** of customer support that I didn't have it. **** should state to keep your receipt on the product sticker and label! I really would like a replacement.Business Response

On 5/11/2024 an email was sent to **** warranty/customer support email for a warranty claim. I had to upload several pictures and convert them to jpeg. Took me some time. I thought lifetime warranty would be just going into ********** where purchased and just getting a replacement. ********** said to contact **** for warranty info. "Hello, on 9/5/2020 I purchased a leaf rake manufactured by your company from ********** that had a lifetime warranty. The lifetime warranty was the only reason for the purchase of this rake. Unfortunately, the rake has lost 3 tines and others are loose. It is a RZB fiberglass 24-steel tine rake. I would like to have this item replaced under warranty. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, *********************, ****************************************************************************** ************ On 5/15/2024 I received an email back from the **** warranty/cutomer support that went as follows below."Hello,Thank you for providing the photos of your product. The issue you are experiencing would not be considered a manufacture defect but falls under the description of regular wear and tear. We will not be able to approve your request for a replacement. Please keep in mind that future requests will also need to be accompanied by a proof of purchase per our warranty policy.Thank you,Sincerely,**************Consumer Support The **** Companies, Inc"The warranty was on the outside of the rake that said LIFETIME WARRANTY!!! That is why I bought it! On 5/16/2024, I sent **** cutomer support another email stating how I felt about their scam warranty."The packaging said lifetime warranty. That is why i bought it! That is false advertising. I will be reporting your company to ********** corporate as well as The state attorney general!! Thanks for nothing, ********************* It seems like this company is just a holding of some corporation based out of ***. Should have researched the razerback brand before purchase. Truth be known, I will never purchase another ****/razerback product,Business Response

I filed a warranty claim with **** regarding a failed rake. They opened a ticket and asked me for several pieces of information. As I gathered this information, they oddly decided to send me a pdf with warranty terms which was redundant. With each interaction, I advised that the information would be coming shortly as I gathered it. Within hours they had closed my ticket.I complained about their closing my ticket and they fell silent...Business Response

I purchased a hose reel that **** warranted for life. They replaced it once with an inferior type as I had a 225 ft *********** sent a 125 ft reel. The second one broke. I put in another claim. They said that since they replaced it once, they will not do so again. If a firm advertises a life time warranty, it should adhere to their written warranty. The public should be aware of their false advertisement as they still sell hose reels.Initial Complaint

Im the original owner of an **** brand garden hand tool (landscaping edger, #********). The end section of the handle broke with normal use and no longer holds the metal edger piece rendering it useless (see image). It came with a lifetime warranty for homeowner use (see label); however, The Ames Company is refusing to honor their warranty. I followed their warranty instructions by sending an email on Nov 19, 2023 and included the requested information. They said this item had been discontinued and, once an item is discontinued it is guaranteed for 2 years after the discontinuation date. After the 2 years it is no longer warrantied. The label clearly says lifetime warranty, not two years after discontinued date. This company is engaging in misleading practices and false advertising. My desired outcome is to receive a replacement tool under warranty for a comparable item currently in production.Initial Complaint

I purchased a Razorback garden rake with a "60" weather resistant fiberglass handle" and a "lifetime warranty". The rake failed when the, alleged, fiberglass handle broke, revealing that the handle is actually constructed of wood. I emailed AMES and they have declined to help at all, stating that my claim is denied. AMES "lifetime warranty" mean nothing. In addition, AMES is deceiving customers by stating that the handle is a fiberglass handle, when it is actually a wooden handle.Business Response
