On 2/10/2022 I had a MRI of my Lumbar Spine performed. My co-pay for the procedure was $555.56 which I used my health Flex Spending account to pay. My insurance provider ***** denied the claim due to a lack of pre-authorization. My claim stated that I did not owe any money for this procedure. On June 20. I called and requested a refund of the amount I paid. I was informed a refund would be processed in 7 to 10 business days. I did not receive any refund and again called on August 3 and was informed that my claim needed to be reviewed. And if I were owed a refund I would be refunded. I was again told this would happen in 7 to 10 business days. I again called August 29 about my refund, and was told the claim was closed. I wound up speaking to a supervisor who informed me they were looking at the wrong date of service. The supervisor told me she was sending an email for them to take immediate action. When I called back on September 6, I was told they only just opened an inquiry the day before. And that they were requesting more time. I just spoke with my insurance company today, September 23 and there has yet to be an appeal of this denied claim. Each time I have called I have requested a refund or that they re-file. Since the funds used to pay for the service were from my health flex spending account. The health flex spending account has a use it or lose it timeframe. My concern being by time they refund the account I will no longer be able to use it. As I have further need for these funds. For continued treatment of my Lumbar spine.
