Original Visit (1/16/2024). I was quoted $99 "starting price" for them to come, cut and program a new key fob for my 2003 VW Jetta. When the tech arrived he said it was $300 and they only had a basic key, no fob as promised on the phone. He measured the door lock and cut the key but was not able to program it to my car. He showed generic faults on his scanner and said my *** was bad so not his fault. The key he cut for my car is VERY tight turning the ignition. You cannot feel the accessory, on and start detent positions and it will not lock or unlock my door. The tech and company when I called repeatedly said they would refund $80 for programming of the $300 total bill, but nothing more since they already cut the key.I since found my original key and ordered 2 new keys online, cut by my VIN and I had NO issues programming them with a friend's basic VW software. I first had to wait for the 244min immobilizer lockout to reset, caused by the tech turning on the car with an unprogrammed key. This generation requires special software to wake the *** and program the key WITHOUT turning the key in the ignition called VAG-TECHO, but the tech didn't know the process for these cars.Follow up calls (2/1 12:30 and 4:30, 2/8 1:30)After 3 promised callbacks not received, the Office now says they will not refund the programming fee or any other part of the service. They still insist my car *** is faulty, quoting the code ***** error (which on VW specifically means "immobilizer prevented unauthorized engine start" caused by the tech trying to start the car with an unprogrammed key) and blaming my car for the programming problem even though they already said they'd refund $80.Their service provided a poorly cut key which barely turns the ignition and will not turn the door lock cylinders and they were unable to program it to start my car. I paid for a key that turns my locks and starts the car, that's exactly the reason you pay a mobile locksmith to make you a car key.

I recently found myself in a frustrating situation where I locked my keys in my car. In my search for assistance, I came across ProLocksmith, lured in by their advertisements of low rates. I called them and directly inquired about the cost for unlocking my car. They requested the make and model of my vehicle, which I provided. Initially, they quoted a $49 service fee, which seemed reasonable. However, upon the locksmith's arrival, the situation took an unexpected turn. Despite the initial quote, I was informed that the $49 was merely a fee for showing up, and an additional $89 was required to actually unlock the car. This bait-and-switch tactic felt highly unethical and dishonest, especially considering they had all the relevant vehicle information beforehand. Why would they need the make and model of my car if not to provide an accurate quote for the service required? This experience left me feeling misled and disappointed. I advise caution when dealing with ProLocksmith and suggest looking for more transparent and honest service providers.
