I wanted to become a Surgical Technician. I joined/purchased the Surgical Tech program through AdventHealth University. They promised you would be ready to work in 3-6 months. I joined on February 13, 2025, and passed my certification test on April 4, 2025. I let my advisor know immediately so that I could start the placement process to learn on the job. I submitted my **************** Placement Support Opportunity on April 14th, 2025. I did not hear from my placement advisor until May 27th, 2025. I was laid off from my job in early May, so I let my placement advisor know that I had 100% full availability, including weekends and nights. It is now August 13th, 2025. I still have not been placed in an externship. AdventHealth Hospital won't even host surgical techs from the University. They stated they aren't associated. To me, this just sounds like the one place that should have faith in the program doesn't. I've now had to take a job, so my availability is now more limited. No one will hire you with a certification without experience. In my opinion, AdventHealth University is scamming people when it comes to the certificate programs. I've talked to recruiters myself to try and find something, and they say they hear this a lot about this program. I would love my money back at this point. But I know that will truly never happen, sadly. I want to note that my student success manager, *******, from the school, has been really helpful and has tried her best. to help me. This is not her fault; it is the University's. If you accept money for a program that requires an externship to be successful, and you promise to place the students, then you should have relationships set up with offices or hospitals ready to go anytime.

****** **** has successfully completed the Surgical Technician didactic course and was initially placed with a podiatrist/foot surgeons office to begin accumulating in-person externship hours. However, due to a low surgical case volume at the site, ****** requested reassignment to a location that offers greater surgical exposure.

We escalated his request, and our externship manager is now working directly with his coordinator to expedite the reassignment process. He will be presented with a new opportunity soon - one that better aligns with his goal of gaining more hands-on experience in the OR.

******* *** is his **************** Manager and can be reached at ************.

BBB Serving ***************, Consumer Complaint #********

The student does have a balance since she never dropped the course and was issued a grade.  Several emails were sent instructing the student about the academic and financial petition process to withdraw from the course and remove the grade.  Both were never completed by the student. The father was not approved to call the school and speak on her daughters behalf because there is no ***** authorization on file. The student received an email with a link to the ***** form, which would authorize her father to speak with the school on her behalf.  The last communication was April 18, 2025.

    Customer Answer

This isnt good enough, she has never attended the course and these are unenforceable fees. Placing a grade as f or non attended doesnt infer they can charge fees.

I have spoken to the account manager who accepted this fact.

I am rejecting this response because:

1, ****** has not attended a class & states she has not registered for the course as required after applying.

2, We identified as such to the account services manager.

3, ****** is identifying that no communication has been received despite statements to the contrary in their response, I forwarded this to the account manager 16th May again, below.

4, Reviewing thr Advent Health response it is contradictory. They state she attened the course & has been issue a grade & that they recognize communication stating she would not attend & needed to apply to get off the hook. They cant have it both ways... She either attended or didnt...

They cannot charge for a coursed not attended & issuing a absent grade does not validate this., It's a blantant money grab & this will be confirmed here or in the courts their choice.

    Regards,

    ****

I am a student at ********, an educational institution that my employer, AdventHealth, had an agreement and affiliation with where employees could pursue educational programs to further our ******************** I enrolled into MedCerts to complete their Phlebotomist Technician program. One of the requirements of the program is to take and pass the National Healthcare Association (***) Certified Phlebotomist Technician exam and complete clinicals. Students are given 6 months after a passed exam date to complete clinicals. As provided in the evidence, I contacted several times beginning in May 2023 in an attempt to begin clinicals as soon as possible. I was told AdventHealth needed to ensure that an affiliation agreement had been established which contradicts the promises of both AdventHealth University and MedCerts. AdventHealth advertises its affiliation to other educational institutions, including MedCerts, and encourages employees to pursue them. However, as provided in the evidence, at the time that I reached out to both entities, I was told that I had to wait to hear back for the partnership agreement details to be finalized before I could begin clinicals. This led to an unnecessary delay that, despite several attempts on my end, shortened the timeframe that I could complete clinicals. Finally, I was given information on ******************* from AdventHealth University and I scheduled a meeting with her to set up clinicals at an AdventHealth site. Ultimately due to the lack of *********************** from both AdventHealth and MedCerts, I completed clinicals after the 6 month period and the *** voided my passed test result. I contacted the *** who referred me back to AdventHealth and MedCerts. Also, ******** claims that they did not receive my clinical log sheet & after reaching out to the AdventHealth employee who oversaw my clinicals, she sent over my clinical log sheet to ******************* on December 14. I've reached out to **** but have not received a response as of today.

************************* completed her Phlebotomy Technician certification 3/26/2023 and completed her clinical requirements on 12/05/2023. Unfortunately, her clinical documentation was submitted incorrectly, therefore she did not receive consideration for completing this requirement within the allotted 90-day deadline. To assist this student, we authorized retaking her CPT exam and have submitted her clinical documentation with the issuing authority, National Healthcareers Association, for review. ***** has successfully completed all course requirements and passed her CPT exam on 5/6/2024. I will maintain contact with ****************** to assist her with any future needs.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Warmly,
