Our lanai screen was damaged by Hurricane *** winds on September 28. ********************* sent an adjuster to our home on October 5, who took pictures and told us we could proceed with getting the damage repaired.A few hours later a truck/trailer pulled up in front of our house. The name was Breeze Thru Rescreen, LLC, advertising that they were licensed and insured. The owner's name is ******************************I found out that our neighbors, across the street, had called this contractor because he had repaired screens damaged in 2017 by Hurricane ****. After he provided them with an estimate, I asked him to give us an estimate to replace the screen and two storm doors, which he provided and asked for a 50% deposit. He also told us he would repair the damaged brace. We gave him a check in the amount of $3,350.00. He put the material in our garage.October 6, they removed the old screening and power washed the lanai.October 7, they started to put up the new screen and replaced the broken brace.October 10, they finished installing the new screen and installed two doors. My husband and I reviewed the work and found several errors, holes in screens, loose bolts, screen was not trimmed properly, screws missing in door closer kit, door latch misaligned, doors hung crooked, improper installation of top screen, screws in the pool, the list goes on.The owner came by on October 12 and asked for the balance due. I told him about the problems, but he didn't have the tools to fix the screen doors. He did replace a small section of screen that was not installed properly. I wrote him a check for $3,200 (he gave us a $150 discount for the inconvenience). When my husband came home, he called the owner and told him to return and fix the rest of the problems. He came back, started yelling and said that we were wasting his time. We told him to leave and placed a stop payment on the check. He has since threatened to *** us and remove the screens and doors. We are trying to hire an attorney

The estimate we have given to this customer was for a Full **********************, Door Replacement, and a FREE Power wash. The pictures being shown on this complaint are for work on screws we never agreed to replacing and was not included in the invoice the White's received. A s**** replacement is another service and the pictures shown are from old screws existing on a pool cage that just was impacted by Hurricane *** that had 150 mph winds. This customer paid us a deposit and then was satisfied when the job was complete and paid us the remaining balance. A week later we saw that the White's balance check bounced. The owner made a phone call to **************, and he responded by saying the check did not bounce we stopped payment. We never received a phone call to our office about any issues wrong with the work we did on their pool enclosure. We had to call the customer about their bounced check and only then did the Whites start to make their complaints. We issued a lien on their home and filed a police report about the nonpayment for services completed and to their satisfaction at the completion of the job. If we would have received a complaint about the issues or a phone call letting us know about the issues, we would have sent someone to fix it right away. We never leave a job without 100% satisfaction! We have been in business for 7 years and do have our business licenses/tax id number filed with Charlotte County. We also have a 2-million-dollar insurance policy through ******* Insurance. Please be advised that not all trade services require a "contractor" license. We have beautiful pictures attached that show the amazing job we did on the White's property. This issue is in the hands of our bussiness attorney and the police for a non-payment of services completed.

    Complaint: 18294750

I am rejecting this response because:

First, the attached invoice belongs to another customer.

Second, ****************** claims that we did not contact him, or his office to tell him of our concerns. This is not true, I told him about our concerns face-to-face on October 12, and we called his office on October 12 at 2:37 pm to let them know of our concerns. ****************** called several times and came to our house the same day.

Third, we did not expect the business to replace the screws. He is ignoring the other problems we are having with their work (listed below). I do not believe he inspected the work done by his employees, or re-tightened the cage cables, or re-tightened all pool cage pivot points as promised on the invoice.

    1) During our initial visit, the owner promised to tighten the existing screws. The task was not completed.

    2) The owner also promised to replace two doors. As the pictures show, the installation was sloppy, the hardware was not installed properly, screws were missing, and the door sweeps were not installed.

    3) The owner also promised to replace a broken bracket, which was completed. We learned from the Code Compliance and ***************************** of Charlotte County that the business is not licensed to repair pool cages. They also told us that this business does not have a license to work on pools cages in Charlotte *********************** The screens are not trimmed properly

    5) The top of the pool enclosure has 23 separate panels. The business took a major shortcut and only installed 7 large panels and did not attach the screen to some of the braces.

    6) The business vehicles state they are licensed and insured but never provided their license number or a copy of their insurance policy.

    7) *********** is currently registered with the ******* Secretary of State. However, their business was not actively registered when they did the work at our house.

    8) The business is not licensed with Charlotte *********************** The business is not licensed with ******* **************************************************.

On October 5, 2022, ****************** gave us an estimate to rescreen the entire pool cage and replace two screen doors. He verbally promised to tighten the screws and replace the bracket. He asked for 50% down payment, the balance would be due when the job was complete. The lanai was power-washed as promised at the beginning of the job. It took them 3 days to finish the job and upon completion, we inspected the work and discovered the problems mentioned above. ****************** came to our house, unannounced, on October 12 and started taking pictures, without my permission. My husband was not home, so I went out to ask him what he was doing, and he said he was there to collect the balance due. I told him that I was not ready to pay him and walked around the pool cage to show him the problems. He told me that the screens did not get trimmed due to insurance reasons. He did not have tools, so he borrowed one of our wrenches and a screwdriver but did not have enough screws to fix the doors. He apologized and said he would give us a $150 discount. I gave him a check for the final payment, and he promised to return with the door sweeps.

When my husband came home, he was not satisfied with the work, called ******************, and asked him to come back and make the necessary repairs. When ****************** arrived, he told my husband that we were wasting his time, called my husband a moron, and left. I placed a stop payment on the check because the work was not completed satisfactorily.

When ****************** discovered the stop payment, he sent us a text threatening to remove the screens and the doors. We called the police to file a complaint.

When the work is completed satisfactorily and inspected, we will pay the appropriate amount.
    Sincerely,

    *************************

    Hello ***************,

We are rejecting your complaint due to the following reasons:

    1. ****************** did come to collect payment and before you signed YOUR NAME on the check the tightening of the cables, pivot points, and screws were all done before leaving the property with payment in hand.

    2. You have clearly proven that payment and service was completed because of the invoices attached with your signature on them.

    3. We are licensed with Charlotte County so please do your research before spreading false information our company (please see attached link for Tax information provided

Account history Business Tax Account Business Tax Account #***** - TaxSys - ****************************** (county-taxes.com)

    4. Not every trade needs to have a "contractor's license" screening is one of those.

    5. Sorry we missed a few screws when completing the inspection before you gave us the check. These screws you are showing pictures of are on the top of the cage, so we do apologize for not rescrewing those for you.

    6. We have attached the information for a licensing, business tax information, and insurance policy for you to review. Please do your research before taking such drastic action as writing false information on BBB.

    7. Responding to this point- "2.The owner also promised to replace two doors. As the pictures show, the installation was sloppy, the hardware was not installed properly, screws were missing, and the door sweeps were not installed. "

    - These pictures are taken before the owner was there to do the inspection and collect payment. Once the inspection was done which DID include tightening of all cables, pivot points, screws, and fixing the door you stated was sloppy. The owner fixed the door to the best of his ability and to your satisfaction you agreed and wrote a check for services complete. At this point in our journey the job is done, and business is complete. From day one you and your husband gave us trouble before we even started the job. You could have chosen to business elsewhere and you did not. You signed a contract and signed 2 checks to our company. The repairs you asked us to complete were done and the pictures you are sharing are before we came back to fix your complaints.

    8. To the point stated "3. The owner also promised to replace a broken bracket, which was completed. We learned from the Code Compliance and ***************************** of Charlotte County that the business is not licensed to repair pool cages. They also told us that this business does not have a license to work on pools cages in Charlotte County. "

-As you stated here; do you see how above and beyond, we went for you and your husband. The owner fixed a broken bracket (small simple repair) for you because you asked. We technically should not have done that, yes! but we were clearly trying to satisfy you in every way possible when we came to collect payment.  To fix a small repair as a broken bracket on a door would have been a 6 month wait (along with doors).

9.' 5) The top of the pool enclosure has 23 separate panels. The business took a major shortcut and only installed 7 large panels and did not attach the screen to some of the braces. " To this point stated. No! I will 100% say this is a lie! I have been in business for 7 years and will never ever take shortcuts like this. This is not how my company does business. I do not know where you got that from other than trying to get out of paying my business for the services completed.

    10. For this reason and this reason only, my company will not be fixing anything else for you as the drastic measures you have taken to bad mouth my company are enough for us to refuse to do anything else for you. The police are involved in this, and our business attorney will be in contact about the non-payment. For you to be s******* a company out of their hard work during such times in Southwest ******* is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

11." He told me that the screens did not get trimmed due to insurance reasons."-what is this? I would never say this first of all and why would insurance reasons have anything to do with trimming the screen? There is NO untrimmed screen on your cage look at the pictures.

    12. "He apologized and said he would give us a $150 discount."- the owner apologized and gave you a $150 discount! Above and beyond!

See attached files for business licensing and insurance information.

I am replying to the response from the business dated November 17 because I cannot enter the information on your website:

I am rejecting the business response.

It is obvious that ****************** does not agree with our complaints and has no intention of correcting the problems. We contend that the business has a contractual obligation to complete the work satisfactorily before final payment is made.

He says that work is complete and satisfactory because I wrote the second check. We disagree. I was with him the day he came to collect the final payment and the pivot points and cables were not inspected or tightened. The work was not done to our satisfaction and when we asked him to come back to fix the problems, outlined in our complaint, he refused, so we placed a stop payment on the check.

He says he is licensed. We disagree. He is registered as a business with the **************** and the Charlotte ******************** He is not a contractor licensed with the **************** or Charlotte County to work on aluminum. His crew replaced (not repaired, it was too damaged) an aluminum bracket and aluminum doors. His father worked on some brackets on the Northern section of the top of the pool cage. If the business was not licensed to work on aluminum, he should have told us when we negotiated the project so we could find someone who is licensed.

He said we lied about the installation of the panels on top of the pool cage. We disagree. Look at the attached pictures and you will see that the screen is not attached to the cage. This is how we concluded that the work was not inspected because the owner would have made sure the screen was installed properly and the screws were tightened.

****************** says the screens are trimmed. We disagree. The pictures we attached prove that the screens were not trimmed.

****************** says the $150 discount was a generous effort to go above and beyond. We disagree. It was acknowledgment the work was not completed satisfactorily.

    Sincerely,

    *************************

I am rejecting this response because, as outlined in the original complaint and documented in the photos we provided, ****************** and his business, Breeze Thru Rescreen, did not fulfill their contractual obligation to complete the work we hired him to do. If the work is complete and inspected by a third party, the balance due will be paid.

    Sincerely,
