The business quoted removing wooden stairs and hauling them off and building a brick curved staircase for $2700. I didn’t need stairs presently . My current ones were in good shape, but he said he had leftover material and if I let him start soon it would take only 5 days. He collected $1400 said nothing else until the job was complete. Then asked for $800 which. i paid . He text me after midnight and thru out the week. He wanted more money or he wasn’t coming back. He originally said half down and half on completion. He said he needed money for food and gas. I went to check on the job and not one stair was laid . He put some cinder blocks under my wooden steps. He had said he would pour a concrete foundation then lay blocks. He stacked up cinder blocks on an uneven ground. The blocks weren’t filled with concrete and used mortar and not concrete to keep the cinder blocks together. He started building a brick wall a few feet high by the steps but never built one step. It doesn’t go with anything and when you take down the stairs it just s in the way. He wants another $9 k to finish and said he made a mistake. I would like him to finish the job or refund my money.
