****** to price on quote early May 2024. Sent deposit and they cashed it May 14th. 2025. Stated it would be 6-8 weeks (depended on who you asked). At 6 week **** called to get an update. Was advised salesman we had dealt with had been arrested by I.C.E. Owner **** stated he would send me an email with installation date since it had been enough time. Week would go by and no email or contact. Week later text saying he would send the email. This went on for weeks. Get an email from office employee saying door would be done in 2 weeks. That puts us at 12 weeks now. Now no answer to any email, calls or text after that. Has been 3 weeks since that email and no response. Buyer beware. Theft and fraud is what its looking like. From my research not the first time this owner has done this. There are several other people that have had the same experience however they are still doing business. The shop name is Presto Impact Windows and Doors but the business is registered as Presto Building Design. Owners name is **** Christopher ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The business took our deposit in May of 2025.  In late June the owner told me he would email me with an install date that the door should be done.  Multiple emails and texts were sent after the office manager incident.  These emails and texts were with the owner directly not anyone in the office yet we had no response.  He did not order the door till August 8th according to his own paperwork.  In other words took our money in May with a lead time of 6-8 weeks and didn't even order the door until I told him I was hiring an attorney.  He only wants to give partial information.  I have all the records of calls, emails and texts that were sent.  He has continued to lie to buy time.  I am not accepting his excuses as there is proof he lied and had not ordered the door when we placed the order.

    Sincerely,

We decided to use Presto to order our customized hurricane impact front doors. On April 7, 2025, the owner, ****, emailed us with an estimate of the cost ($8,250.00) and production time of 5-6 weeks. We agreed and decided to move forward. On May 9, 2025, we sent the 50% deposit via ACH. On May 14, 2025, the sales person, ******, confirmed deposit was received. At around June 24, 2025, my husband started to reach out to ****** to obtain an update on our door since it was about the 6 week ***** No response. On June 26, 2025, my husband called ****, the owner, no response right away but **** did return the call and informed my husband that the door should be done and will him with an installation date. June 30th comes around, sent a text to **** for an update since we did not receive an email. July 2nd, another text to ****, no response. July 7th, text to ****, no response. July 8th, called ****, he answered and said he was going to the office and will send the email that day. July 11th, no email so a text was sent to **** again to obtain an installation date, no response. July 14th, text to ****, he responded saying he will send the email with installation date shortly. We called twice that day to ****, no answer, sent another text, no response. July 15th, text and called ****, no response to either outreaches. This continued with multiple outreaches from our end to **** and no response everyday until July 23rd he responded to a text apologizing and will send an update that week. Still no email. July 28th, called and text, no response. July 29th, called and text, no response. At this time it has been well over the 5-6 week production time of our door order and we have not received any confirmation that our order is complete and is ready to be installed. This company has robbed us from the 50% deposit we sent them. This door is for a new home currently under construction in *******. We absolutely need this door in order to pass inspection and install the flooring.

I am rejecting this response because: That response via a text message is only showing a portion of the invoice and it does not reflect the correct color of the door we ordered and does not show when our order was placed.  We initiated our order with Presto in early May and here we are, September 3rd and he is still communicating that he ordered.  Where is my door if he ordered it? Why is he cutting off the date of the invoice?  My husband, **** *., has not received any follow up or further clarification since that text message from the owner of Presto, ****.

I do not believe they ordered our door. They took our money and are trying to buy time and making excuses to not deliver a product.

I am rejecting this response because:

The door was supposed to arrive end of **** to early July. His communication on status of the door since **** has been it will be ready in two weeks.  Now he sends these cut off invoices hiding information because he never ordered the door. He ignored our outreaches and would respond sporadically like he did here in the recent communication but unfortunately when you stop hearing from someone you assume it's done so we moved on and placed another door order. Now we want our money back and hired a lawyer due to the delays and extra money he cost us due to lack of communication and lies about our order. If he was upfront from the beginning letting us know that his team dropped the ball and did not place the order like promised then things would have gone differently.  However he just kept telling us it will be in soon and fast forward to 3 months and we still do not have our door.

    Complaint: 23679287

I am rejecting this response because:

Due to the lack of communication, timely updates, and clear accurate confirmation that our door was ordered, we went ahead and had to order another door which is arriving very soon. The lack of confirmation, communication, and inaccuracy in confirming that our door was ordered and it is correct, we had to move forward with another door vendor. Our construction home has been without a door since July and this has caused may delays and set backs with the rest of the construction of the home. Again, since he did not confirm a date when the door would be ready, delivered and installed we had no choice but to move with another vendor. The few time he did communicate, it was all lies and never followed through.  We have a suspicion that he placed our door order in August even though we have been asking for an update since mid to late June and it was promised to be delivered by end of June. He has never been honest and upfront about the delay. All he has done is ignore our communication and provided false expectations on delivery dates.  We have moved on, filed a lawsuit in court already to get our money back and ordered another door with another vendor.  Not my problem if he ordered the door now and is going to lose money.  He should have been honest and communicating accurate timelines since late June.

    Sincerely,

    ****** ******

Hired Presto to do a simple new window install back in November of 2024. They demanded all of the money up front and guaranteed a ***** completion. It's now going on 4 months and they will not resolve the issue or issue a refund. They illegally started the project without obtaining proper permits, then they took all of our money and won't return to finish the project. I now have to have my attorney issue a demand letter and sue them for ALL the funds we have paid out to them. We then have to hire another company to come in and finish the project that they have illegally started without proper permits. I would NEVER again use this company and would warn others to stay away from them as they are very unethical and dishonest.

We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the details regarding your project and address your concerns.

You hired Presto Building Design in November 2024 for a window installation project with a total contract value of $12,500. While our standard payment structure does not require full payment upfront, we offered a $2,000 discount as an incentive to proceed before the holidays, which you voluntarily accepted.

We delivered all materials and completed the installation within the agreed timeframe. However, during the permitting process, our permit consultant mistakenly filed the application with the City of Delray Beach based on the property address. Once we realized that the permit actually needed to be filed with *****************, we immediately informed you and took the necessary steps to correct the issue. Unfortunately, this required additional paperwork and registration in *****************, which caused unforeseen delays.

We understand that this was frustrating, and we regret the extended timeline. However, at no point did we abandon the project or refuse to resolve the issue. Despite the challenges, we remained committed to completing the job properly and within compliance. As of today, we have successfully passed the final inspection, and the permit is officially closed.

Additionally, in good faith, we provided $1,200 cash in compensation (approximately 10% of the contract total) to acknowledge the inconvenience. The only remaining task is the interior perimeter caulking, which we left for final inspections and are prepared to complete once you return.

Our goal has always been to deliver a fully compliant and high-quality installation. We appreciate your patience during the permitting process and are happy to coordinate the final touch-*** at your convenience.

    Business Response

    Date: 02/19/2025

Job is complete. All materials are 100% completed and we passed the final inspection and the building permit is closed.
Customer is now satisfied. There are no further steps as all of our obligations and all commitments have been honored. Furthermore, the customer does not want a full refund and is not seeking any money- refund payment or compensation. All is settled as of today.

    Business Response

This complaint should be closed and settled even if the customer does not respond.

Date of purchase was 4/24 We purchased a slider with install from them and they gave us an install date of August 2024. The permit was taken out by their company. We have given them half the money. They supposedly have the slider manufactured but they have not installed it. They have been giving us the run around for the last four months. Every other week they would say they were Installing this week and they cancelled every time. Now the owner **** is not even answering our calls. We would like for the slider to be installed ASAP or we want a full refund. The invoice is under my sister ***** ********. Please help us resolve this issue. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Dear ****** *******,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We understand the frustration caused by delays, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.

The installation process for your sliding door was affected by several factors outside of our direct control. Your building, located in ************, required approval from the city, the **** and the Board of Architects. These additional layers of review held back the manufacturing time combined with the citys permitting timeline, extended the overall process longer than we initially anticipated.

Although we received your order in April, the permit for your installation was not issued until January 16, 2025.

We had a small deposit for one single door and at no time were we asked to cancel or refund you.

Coral Gables is known for its rigorous and often lengthy permitting process, and we also had to rely on our architects to provide necessary drawings and calculations, including existing and proposed elevations. Much of this work takes place behind the scenes and is crucial to ensuring compliance with city codes and regulations.

We are pleased to inform you that your sliding door has now been installed and has passed the in-progress inspection by the City of ************ Building Department.  We truly appreciate your patience throughout this process and hope you enjoy your new door for many years to come.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. We value your business and are committed to delivering high-quality materials that offer hurricane protection, skilled labor and service.

    Best regards,
    Presto Building Design

THE FINAL PAYMENT TO THE CONTRACTOR WAS MADE TODAY, BEGRUDGINLY BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL HE ACTED PROPERLY TOWARDS US AND THE CONTRACT. THERE WERE A FEW MISREPRESENTATIONS IN THE OWNER'S RESPONSE TO MY INITIAL COMPLAINT. FOR ONE, HE MENTIONED IT WAS A SMALL DEPOSIT, AND HE WAS INCORRECT, IT WAS HALF THE COST OF THE PROJECT WHICH WAS OVER $3,000. HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE THE PERMIT UNTIL JANUARY 2025, THAT IS ALSO WRONG, HE HAD THE PERMIT IN NOVEMBER OF 2024. I KNOW BECAUSE HIS WORKERS KEPT CALLING AND CANCELLING WEEK AFTER WEEK IN NOVEMBER. THEY ORDERED THE WRONG DOOR IN AUGUST ******************************************************* ******* AFTER INSTALLING THE SLIDER, HAD TO BE TOLD BY THE ASSOCIATION THAT THEY GOT THE GRIDS ON THE WINDOW WRONG AND NEEDED TO FIX THEM. A DETAIL THAT HE TRIED TO BLAME OTHERS FOR AS OPPOSED TO ACCEPT BLAME FOR NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO BEGIN WITH. SO, MORE TIME WASTED WAITING FOR THEM TO FIX THAT. ALL IN ALL, IT WAS A FRUSTRATING SITAUTION AND I MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN. THE SLIDER IS INSTALLED, AND IT PAST FINAL INSPECTION.

I contacted this company to get Impact Windows in my apartment last year in October. They told me that the time was around 3 months and has been 7 months and they don't answer the phone. The deposit payment was on October 10th 2022 with an amount of $2200. Last time I contacted them was by message requesting a refund and I am still waiting for it. I don't have a tracking of the payment, it was via online, I am not sure if I have a confirmation email. We signed a contract. Seems this is a scam. The name of the person is *************************. You can find PRESTO BUILDING DESIGN LLC in Sunbiz and there is all the information of this person.

    Dear BBB,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We strive to provide our customers with fair pricing and excellent service. However, we acknowledge that there were certain challenges and delays in this particular case.
One of the unexpected challenges we encountered was the need for additional engineering work to design a complete building structure. This was a new experience for us, as we had previously been able to obtain permits within three days and promptly order materials from our warehouse. Unfortunately, we were unable to commence the installation process without the necessary permit.
To rectify the situation, we took responsibility for the delays and incurred expenses. We hired an engineer to address the permit requirements and covered the associated fees. Additionally, we reimbursed the customer in full for the materials he had purchased, transferring the refund via Zelle.
Once the customer received the full refund, we promptly contacted him to inform him of the resolution. We provided a 30-day window for him to reconsider and proceed with the project, should he manage to secure the necessary permit approval. In such a scenario, we assured him that we would be delighted to resume the installation process and complete the window installation as originally agreed.
We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to the customer and understand his frustration with the extended timeframe. Our intention was always to deliver a satisfactory outcome, and we have taken steps to rectify the situation as best we can. We value our customers and their satisfaction, and we remain committed to resolving any outstanding issues to the best of our ability.
If you require any further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your attention to this matter and the opportunity to address the customer's concerns.
    Sincerely,
