On October 3rd, I hired the company Web Design Glory to build a custom WP website for my new business. I spoke to their sales *** extensively about ensuring the website is not only fully functioning, I sent my business requirements in a word document, explained all of the requirements and filled out their questionnaire with the requirements. He proceeded to quote me $2090.50 for the website which was to be completed by the *** 2024 which they insisted they could get done within the end of November. The design was copied off a popular template called Astra and had very little custom elements. There were too many revision rounds. Often with 4-5 revisions per email. They would change something, then something else would break and we'd have to revise it. The project was not done by the end of November. By December 11th, I was tired from all the revisions and mistakes such as misspellings, so I approved the design for deployment. They deployed the site on December 11th, and the category pages didn't even work. They included dead links all over the website (like terms and conditions, etc.) and they failed to deliver on half of the deliverables. At that point, I was not pleased with the website and went through rounds of revisions to correct issues even after deployment. They pushed me to drive traffic to the website when it wasn't even ready. They hadn't installed the cookies management tool which we had discussed and was clearly part of the business requirements in my questionnaire and document. I cannot drive traffic without cookie management for compliance reasons. Then, I had to send them a list of all the missed deliverables. They blamed it on me and said I had approved all their changes, which doesn't make sense because them missing their deliverables has nothing to do with approving their revisions round after round. I've asked for a refund of the $450 to install GoogleAdsense which was never done, then $1000 for all the incomplete deliverables.

    Complaint: 23172846

I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you for the opportunity to respond.

I engaged Web Design Glory in October 2024 to deliver a multi-page affiliate product review site, as described in their invoice as a complete custom website. However, the final product was neither complete nor custom. They failed to design or deliver the inner pages, including the article templates, subcategory templates, and dedicated Pets and Kids landing pages. Additionally, they promised a functional website, but did not include cookie management, which is a core requirement for legal compliance under regulations like GDPR and CCPA. Without this feature, the website is not legally usable.

The term custom was also materially misleading. The team used drag-and-drop WordPress plugins, not custom coding. The site performed so poorly that it received a GTMetrix score of F, making it completely unviable for search engine visibility. I paid a premium price ($2,090.50) for a high-tier website package, but what I received was essentially a homepage with minimal backend architecture and none of the key structural deliverables.

Although I reviewed a draft homepage in December, I was pressured to approve small, superficial adjustments under the timeline they imposed. They had promised a 60-day delivery window, and as delays mounted, I was forced to accept elements simply to stay on schedule. This same issue arose with the logo design, which I also purchased through them. I didnt approve of any of the initial options, so I created a design myself and asked them to replicate it. They altered my design and made it worse, changing spacing and formatting unnecessarily before reverting it back. While I ultimately received a logo, I effectively designed it myself, though I have not disputed that portion of the engagement in this refund request.

I requested a refund on March 31, 2025, after it became clear that the website was not custom, failed performance testing, and essential deliverables were not provided. Specifically, the GTMetrix score was an F, and it became apparent that the site was built entirely using drag-and-drop plugins, not custom development as promised. I raised the question of why, if the site had supposedly gone live back in December, no one had made progress on completing the remaining work until I brought it up. At that point, the team attempted to backtrack and complete items retroactively. Given the misleading scope, broken promises, and the lack of urgency in correcting issues, I realized this was not the company I wanted to continue working with. I was also significantly behind in launching and promoting my website, and further delays were no longer acceptable.

I filed this BBB complaint on April 6 after weeks of resistance and gaslighting regarding what was and wasnt delivered. On April 24, I signed a Refund Agreement provided by Web Design Glory, which explicitly required them to issue a refund of $1,200 within 57 business days. This agreement does not contain any language or contingency related to the outcome of a credit card dispute. For transparency, the credit card dispute they continue referencing was submitted on April 2, 2025, during the period in which they were actively refusing to issue the refund I requested on March 31.

I am fully within my legal rights to pursue a refund through all available channels, and there is nothing in the signed Refund Agreement that prohibits or makes contingent any refund on the resolution of that dispute. The refund was contractually due no later than May 5, 2025, and remains unpaid.

I have confirmed with my credit card provider that no provisional credit exists and no refund has been processed. Web Design Glory is now in clear breach of a signed contract. They recently stated the refund may take up to 45 days, which implies an intentional delay tactic and a unilateral attempt to amend a binding agreement. To be clear, we have not agreed to any 45-day extension, and such a change has no legal standing. This complaint simply concerns a vendor who did not perform the agreed-upon work, launched a failed and incomplete website (of which only the homepage was designed), and is now withholding my refund well past the agreed deadline.

I respectfully request the BBB's assistance in urging the company to fulfill its obligation and issue the agreed-upon refund without further delay.

In summary, here is my position in the list below.

Clearly requested a refund (March 31) after pushback and the company arguing with me.

Told them to stop working (they didnt).

Filed a BBB complaint only after pushback ****** 6).

Signed a written Refund Agreement ****** 24), giving them 57 business days to pay.

That deadline has passed (May 5), and they are now in breach.

    Sincerely,

    ****** **********

    Business Response

    Date: 05/13/2025

Web Design Glory reiterates its commitment to refunding Ms. ****** **********, clarifying that there is no intent to withhold the agreed $1,200. The company has maintained ongoing communication with Ms. ********** since the payment dispute began, actively seeking a cooperative resolution. Despite this, Ms. ********** filed a BBB complaint and continues to threaten further action, which Web Design Glory finds unfair, given its willingness to resolve the issue. The only reason the refund has not been processed is that the disputed funds have not yet been returned by the payment processor. As per standard procedure, *** cannot issue a refund while those funds remain unresolved. The signed refund agreement does not explicitly require unconditional release of funds, and *** continues to act in good faith. Attached proof of communications further demonstrates **** cooperative stance. The company requests BBB's fair assessment while waiting for the dispute funds to be returned.

I am rejecting this response because:

As of May 16, 2025, I have not received any follow-up or refund from Web Design Glory. This is despite their written communication, dated 5-13-25 in which they stated they expected a final resolution from their payment processor and would proceed with the refund by May 15, 2025. That deadline has now passed without any response, update, or payment. This continued lack of follow-through further confirms their unwillingness to honor the terms of our agreement or communicate transparently. I've attached my full rebuttal for your review.

    Sincerely,

    To the BBB,

Im writing to provide an update regarding Web Design Glorys response to my complaint.
On May 16, 2025, I received an email from the companys billing team stating that they are unable to process a reversal of the $1,200 refund we agreed upon because the transaction is still unsettled from the bank and merchant side. They offered a partial refund of $600 in the meantime and said the remaining amount would be processed next month once the dispute is settled.

I am declining this offer for the following reasons:

The Refund Agreement they provided and I signed on April 24, 2025, clearly requires a full refund of $1,200 within 57 business days. Nowhere in that document does it state that the refund is contingent on a payment processors timeline or dispute outcome.

My bank has already confirmed that the dispute is fully closed and there are no holds or unsettled funds. Their claim that they are waiting on returned funds is factually incorrect.

The companys new offer of $600 represents a unilateral change to a binding written agreement, and I have not consented to any revised terms.

    Thank you,

    Thalia

This (Attached) document outlines Web Design Glorys formal response to BBB Complaint ID #********, filed by *********** ******** ************************** Mr. ******** engaged our services on 01/03/2025, approved the homepage design on 01/05/2025, and received the full front-end development on 01/14/2025. Despite approving the design and receiving timely delivery, he requested a refund on 01/16/2025outside of our refund eligibility period and due to a change of mind, which is not refundable per our terms and conditions. In good faith, *** offered a $284 refund as a goodwill gesture, which was declined. No communication has been received from Mr. ******** since our last follow-up on 03/27/2025. This case study details our adherence to policy, client agreement, and professional conduct throughout the engagement.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you for forwarding Web Design Glorys (WDG) response regarding my complaint #********. After reviewing their fabricated version of events, I am writing to express my complete disgust and disappointment at the dishonest and incomplete manner in which *** has portrayed the situation. I will now present a factual account to correct their misrepresentation and to clearly highlight critical inconsistencies, omissions, and breaches of professional conduct on their part.

Summary of My Experience with Web Design Glory:

January 3, 2025: I agreed to move forward with *** for a custom website, under the good faith that they would act professionally.

January 11, 2025: We scheduled a Zoom meeting for 12 noon to finalize details. I took hours off from work to be available.
At 11:30 AM, I texted ***** (WDG representative) to confirm the meeting and to request the Zoom link.
No response was received, and the meeting never happened.
No alternative representative from *** stepped up to meet or communicate with me.

January 12, 2025 (7:08 PM):***** finally responded apologizing for completely failing to attend the meeting.
At this point, I informed WDG that I no longer wished to move forward with their services due to this unprofessional breach.

January 29, 2025: Despite the broken trust, WDG emailed me offering a partial refund of only 35% ($449)of the amount I paid, acknowledging in part their mistake.
I rejected this offer, finding it insulting and inadequate in light of the breach.

February 1, 2025: After some thought, I decided to proceed with the website, hoping to salvage the project.
Communication resumed on how to move forward.

-February 10, 2025: WDG suddenly presented a list of new requirements for the website launch, totaling an additional $2,280.
These charges were never mentioned in any previous emails, texts, phone calls, or documents.
I objected, noting that these were hidden fees, which had never been disclosed at the time of initial agreement or onboarding.

Key Inconsistencies and Omissions in WDGs Narrative:
Client approved the homepage and requested only minor changes, indicating satisfaction; *** failed to disclose that I attempted to cancel after the missed meeting on January 11 and that they offered a 35% refund, implicitly admitting fault. 2.  WDG delivered the front-end development timely; They omit that critical delays, broken meetings, and lack of communication severely damaged trust before any delivery.
Refund was refused because of their stated refund policies; *** ignores the fact that their own breach (missed meeting, hidden fees) broke the spirit of the agreement and voided my trust before project continuation.
Goodwill refund of $284 was offered; Earlier, they offered  $449 (35%), not $284. Also, they failed to mention that they acknowledged wrongdoing in offering that refund.
No mention of hidden fees; WDG deliberately omitted that they introduced surprise charges of $2,280 on February 10, 2025, which were not disclosed at the time of contracting.

    Potential Legal Concerns:

    - Breach of Contract: Failing to show up for a scheduled, business-critical meeting without reasonable accommodation can be seen as a breach of service terms.
    - Unfair Trade Practices / Deceptive Business Practices: Introducing hidden charges not disclosed during the original agreement could be a violation under consumer protection laws.
    - Negligent Misrepresentation: Their narrative misleads by omission of material facts like their missed appointment, partial refund offer, and subsequent hidden fees.
And now their dishonesty will push me to go even further with legal measures.  Thank you so much BBB.
    Sincerely,

    *********** ********

    Business Response

This is Web Design Glorys final and factual response to BBB Complaint #******** submitted by *********** ********. *** firmly denies the complainants accusations of misconduct and misrepresentation. Mr. ******** approved the homepage design on January 5, 2025, and received full front-end delivery by January 14, 2025. His refund request on January 16 violated WDGs Terms & Conditions, which he agreed to at onboarding. Despite ineligibility, *** offered a goodwill refund of $284, which he declined. Claims regarding a missed meeting were addressed with an apology, after which the client chose to proceed. Allegations of hidden fees are falseadditional charges were tied to new scope requests. *** maintains all communication was timely, professional, and in alignment with the agreed scope and policies. This response reaffirms **** commitment to integrity and its fulfillment of all contractual obligations.

    Complaint: 23122081

I am rejecting this response because:

After reviewing Web Design Glorys misleading account of our engagement, I am compelled to once again correct the record with documented facts. *** failed to attend a critical scheduled Zoom meeting without notice, a breach that led me to attempt cancellation. They later acknowledged this failure by offering a 35% refund, a clear admission of fault. Despite this breakdown, I acted in good faith and resumed the project, only to be blindsided by undisclosed and unjustified fees totaling $2,280well outside the original scope and never advertised or contractually agreed upon. They have not addressed this. Their narrative omits these vital details and falsely portrays my response as unreasonable, when in fact it was their unprofessionalism, breach of trust, and surprise costs that derailed the project.

Web Design Glorys response to the BBB reflects a pattern of deception and omission that contradicts their contractual obligations and ethical responsibility. Their conduct constitutes potential violations under breach of contract, deceptive trade practices, and negligent misrepresentation. Other reviews have been cited saying the same thing, and in some cases worse.  I respectfully ask the BBB to recognize the truth of these events, uphold accountability, and assist in securing a fair resolution, including the full refund of $1,290 for services that were either delivered unprofessionally or never completed.
    Sincerely,

Thank you.  Also included in our conversation (when we spoke on the phone) were concerns that I stated that you did not see fit to send me this information before. It is almost that it was hidden from me on purpose.  This should have been a part of the presentation, should have been part of the initial package prices. You said you mentioned it in our initial zoom conversation. I think all of the most important details should have been sent in an email.  To send this after I have already sent you $1300.00 to me is very deceiving.  I will need time to raise this money.  I will be in touch.

    to me
    Greetings *****,

I truly appreciate your patience and understanding. I want to reassure you that transparency and client satisfaction are my top priorities. As we discussed over the phone, Id like to clarify that this is the final requirement needed to fully complete your website. After this step, there will be no additional costs associated with the development, and your website will be fully functional and ready to go.

Furthermore, as part of Web Design Glory's commitment to you, any future technical concerns that may arise within the scope of the existing design and structure will be our responsibility. The only ongoing cost after this will be the renewal of the hosting server, which you will manage for the chosen tenure.

I completely understand that you need some time to arrange the funds, and I appreciate your dedication to this project. Please let me know once youre ready, and we will proceed with the hosting allocation right away.

Thank you once again for your trust and partnership. I look forward to finalizing everything smoothly for you.

    Thanks & Regards,?***** Sunday

Good afternoon *****. Thank you so much for your follow up. Do you find it necessary for me to send the pictures and content without me sending money? It will probably be another month before I be able to send you any money. This to me is very distressing.  I had no plans of spending more money with you like this.  I am still upset about it.  This company is stressing me out.

    February 11, 2025    1:00 PM
No problem at all *****, I really appreciate it that you kept transparent with me and I want to assure you that after this requirement there will not be any other charges or any requirements and if so, as being your website administrator Web Design Glory will be taken care of that as previously mentioned in my last email.

    Conclusion
So this is showing that despite prior payments totaling $1,300, the vendor only presented the additional $900$2,280 server cost after funds were exchanged, which was not included in the original pricing breakdown or contract. In my February 10th email, I expressed concern that this crucial cost was withheld. Kevins subsequent replies not only acknowledged my frustration but also reassured memore than oncethat after this requirement there will not be any other charges. This repeated promise strongly implies that the expense was not previously disclosed, and his apology and assurance clearly acknowledge this oversight. It confirms that this vital information was omitted during the earlier stages of our agreement, only surfacing once I had already financially committed to the project.
