In January 2022, I hired the owner of Beligoy Production Service, LLC, a ***** video production company, to film an event I was producing for a Museum in *************, **. I have worked with this company twice before with no problems. The event was a live dance performance at the opening of a solo show of my own artwork there. He was hired to travel to ************* and film video footage documenting the performance, edit it and deliver a short video documentary. We were to meet up later to select the best scenes from the raw footage, he would then edit a satisfactory final work and deliver it to me with all raw footage taken in *******. Shortly after the filming on January 31st, 2022, I transferred him an advance of $1000.00, a stipend for his travel, and a per diem of $150.00, as well, I also covered his hotel room with personal ************** Points. The exhibit included a video art piece of my own creation, projected as the backdrop of the performance. I sent Beligoy Productions a High-Res copy of this artwork so it could incorporate the sound component and possibly a few frames. After we selected the best footage, he did a preliminary edit and sent it to me. It was not acceptable. Prioritized shots were missing - replaced by random images with minimal "dance movement". The video mostly displayed scenes of my own art video with no dancer at all. This is not what Beligoy Production was hired to do.I requested changes and offered to edit the work myself, several times. There was never an argument; I was told twice that I would have it in a week. But the owner began to disappear for days, even weeks, and then offered personal excuses for his disappearance. Today, he does not answer calls, return texts or emails. I have been waiting 2.5 months for the finished 5-minute video, or simply the raw material so I, myself, can finish this work and I can have the much-needed document of the performance I designed, produced, and paid for.
