Good afternoon,On approximately February 28, 2023, I went to Brickell Dental Associates for x-rays and a teeth cleaning. My insurance told me that they paid for the services and I only owed approximately $188. However, the dental office charged me $348 which I put on my navy federal **************** credit card. During my visit, the dentist told me that I needed additional work done. They told me to sign a form and stated it was an application for a credit card where I would not accrue interest for 4 years. I signed the application.A few days later, I returned to the office to cancel the credit card. I explained that I could not get any additional dental work done due to medical issues. The dental office told me that if I didnt use the card, I would not be charged. However, I later received bills from LendingClub which appears to be a lending company (and not a credit card) for additional dental work that was not done. The balance totaled $7,400. I called LendingClub to explain the situation. Lending Club told me that Brickell Dental Associates had 10 days to return the money. LendingClub contacted Brickell Dental Associates for the return of the money for the unpaid dental work. Brickell Dental Associates only returned $5,106.20 and claim that I still owe around $2,400.This is not correct. No additional dental work was done. My insurance paid for the x-rays and teeth cleaning and I put the rest owed on my credit card. I am seeking to close any accounts with LendingClub and *****************. I am also seeking that Brickell Dental Associates return the money in full to LendingClub as no additional dental work was done. Finally, I am seeking a refund of $159.20 for over billing me for the x-rays and teeth cleaning. Please note that I filled this out with my friends help. I only speak Spanish. If possible, please communicate with me in Spanish only.

    Business Response

    To whom it may concern,

This is in response to ********************************** inaccurate claims. ******************* came to our office on 2/28/23 as a new patient, *********** did a in depth comprehensive exam as ******************* has extensive dental issues and had not been to a dentist in 5 years. *********** explained in detail what the concerning issues were and ******************* understood and accepted treatment. We explained the treatment plan in spanish with her copayment responsibility and how much the insurance was estimated to pay, her total was $14,000.00 she didn't have the funds available but as her mouth is deteriorating she wanted to start so we explained that we work with several banks that ******************* can apply and if approved she can pay little by little per month depending on the finance plan she chooses. On 3/1/23 she came in to do the finance application and if approved start tx, we also gave her a very generous discount $7400 to try to help her as she needed the tx to improve her oral health. We did the application for the finance and she got approved ****************** we explained the monthly payment amount, and how the finance works. She agreed to the terms (see signed receipt attached) and was excited to start tx. On 3/1/23 we did the deep cleaning (srp) which is the first step and then started the process of her smile design. Pt had missing and detoriting teeth so her case is a challenging one that requires several important steps in order to have a flawless outcome. On 3/1/23 we scanned her teeth and prepared them for the smile design from teeth ****. A few week later after the wax up was processed by the laboratory and fabricated the patient decides she does not want to proceed with the treatment and gave no reason. We tried to talk to the patient because the treatment was already started and we had the piece ready and fabricated from the laboratory which is a cost to us, if we had not sent the piece to the laboratory to fabricate her only cost would've been the *** but we had a whole wax up fabricated which the laboratory charges us per tooth for the wax up so its a very costly piece to fabricate. We explained if she wanted to proceed with at least the smile design and not continue with the rest of the treatment but ******************* insisted she didn't want anything, we understood and explained that if she doesn't want to continue there's no problem but we would have to charge her for the work that was already done and fabricated because we incurred fees from the laboratory due to the piece we fabricated for her and we have to pay them. We explained that since our Dr is out of network, let's wait for the insurance to pay the outstanding claims we have fromher and once we have payment from them we'll know exactly the total amount to refund her since sometimes insurances pay a little less or even a little more. On 3/23/23 we received the last payment from Insurance and on 3/31/23 we refunded her lending club account for the procedures that were not rendered. ******************* wanted a full refund which can not be done because we started work on her with her full consent, she understood the treatment, she understood the financing, she understood the process and never once denied until work was already started and days after not even the same day. If she wanted to stop she could've said it the same day or not do the application but she wanted to proceed and we can not pay for her lab bill because we already wasted a lot of time on her when we could've spent it with another patient that actually was serious and wanted to do dental work. Please see all signed consents, signed treatment plan, signed receipt, and services rendered. Thank you
