Solar panels installed with informing me that I would only have to pay for the Net Metering Fee associated with FPL monitoring of usage. I had to pay an additional $25. to cover the electric usage, and I estimated the shortfall to be about 2 panels short to produce the required energy. When contacting Soligo for additional panels as I was informed in the beginning to do if shortage in energy happens, they then informed it would cost me a couple thousand dollars more to install the needed panels, this pursued into an escalation as I wasn't made aware of this in the beginning and they claim the (37 Panels) are doing the 91.3% of what they were supposed to do. They failed to explain that the percentage wouldn't cover my electric bill, and that I would be responsible for anything over the net metering charge. It is a scam on Soligo's part to get you to sign up for solar electricity. They offered me the additional panels if I was to sign a hold harmless agreement with them afterwards, so it's a Quid Pro Quo to get what I originally thought was being agreed upon. They claim they have an agreement, but when I asked about the anything over Net Metering charge they paid for, they quickly said to me "Do You Have That In Writing?" I said I felt comfortable with everything being told to me at (66 years) that we didn't need something like that in writing as I considered it a common gentleman agreement with their policies. They misrepresented me not paying for any FPL usage and failed to inform additional panels would be added at a cost to me. I tried contacting them by text and phone and the don't respond to text and don't answer my phone calls. They are avoiding any contact from me, so this is why I am hoping that BBB can intervene for resolution.

    Business Response

    Dear ******,
We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint and clarify the facts surrounding the customer's project and our offer to assist.
This customer was clearly sold a system sized to offset approximately 90 percent of their historical energy usage. At no point was a 100 percent or 105 percent offset promised, verbally or in writing. No guarantee was ever made that the system would eliminate the need to pay the utilitys Net Metering Fee. The proposal and agreement were based on actual energy usage and reflect a responsible and standard design for long-term solar performance and utility compliance.
As the customer mentions, the current system is producing 91.3 percent of what was modeled. This is consistent with the original design and within industry norms. If the customer's ********************** usage has increased since the time of the original proposal, that is outside of our control. Solar systems are sized based on historical consumption, not future behavior.
When the customer inquired about additional panels, we offered to provide and install two more panels at a significantly discounted rate of $900. This is well below our actual cost and reflects our good faith effort to help the homeowner meet their updated expectations.
Regarding the Hold Harmless Agreement, this is a standard and reasonable safeguard. It ensures that if we go beyond the scope of the original agreement, the customer cannot later hold us liable for voluntarily helping above and beyond.
The claim that we promised the customer would never have to pay for any FPL usage is inaccurate. Every Florida homeowner with grid-tied solar pays a Net Metering Fee regardless of system size or production percentage. This was not misrepresented at any point in the sales or installation process.
We also strongly reject any implication of deceptive or unethical conduct. The original contract was clear, the system offset was explained, and our team has made multiple outreach attempts to resolve this matter.
Our offer to add two panels for $900 still stands. We encourage the customer to contact us directly if they wish to proceed.

I was told that there wouldn't be any charge beyond the net metering charge of approximately $25. **** that sales representative assured me that.  Then later, ******* told about the 91.3% build that I wasn't really familiar about and again I asked the question about any charge above the net metering charge? and ******* stated they would add panels to adjust the usage. Since I hadn't paid anything for the system Out of Pocket, I wasn't informed of any additional charge to bring my system into usage needs. It appears that I've been lied to by two different representatives of Soligo. Let me ask this? Bendan, what happened to your $2K charge for these panels to be installed?  and then better yet, what happened to your installed free if I signed the hold harmless agreement?  It clearly shows your all over the place with this panel charge to resolve the shortage, I haven't any faith it what you say as being honest with good intentions. Even *******, said your panel charges at $2K was absurd, and to design a system that's not to efficiency isn't what people getting solar are expecting with they move forward with the installation. I will agree to the hold harmless agreement pertaining to additional panels installation only but not going to pay anymore for the completion of what was expected during the conversations.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/23/2025

We want to be very clear. You were not quoted $2,000 for additional panels. The offer on the table is $900, which is a heavily discounted price meant to help bridge the gap and bring your system closer to full offset. That offer still stands. We are not obligated to provide these panels, but we made this offer in good faith to work with you.
Everything regarding your system was contracted properly. Your agreement was based on a 91.3% offset, and thats exactly what the proposal and final contract reflect. You acknowledged this at the time of signing. No one misled you, and we are not responsible for misunderstandings between different ***** especially when the contract spells everything out clearly.
If you would like to take advantage of the $900 offer, let us know. Otherwise, we consider the matter closed.

The company has people who go around your neighborhood at 9pm banging on all your doors soliciting when there is clearly no soliciting signs. The employees are kids and are rude and selling a terrible product to begin with.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/27/2025

We appreciate the opportunity to respond and want to first apologize if any of our representatives acted inappropriately. Our door-to-door reps are trained to respect posted signage and engage only during reasonable hours. If someone knocked at 9pm or ignored a “no soliciting” sign, that’s absolutely not in line with our standards, and we’ll address it internally.
That said, we flat-out reject the claim that we’re “selling a terrible product.” We provide professionally installed, fully permitted solar energy systems designed to save homeowners money and increase property value all while reducing reliance on the utility grid. Thousands of customers across the state are already benefiting from our systems, and we’re proud of the work we do.
We understand that not everyone is interested in solar, and that’s perfectly fine. But dismissing a clean energy solution as “terrible” based on a brief or unwanted interaction is simply uninformed.
If you'd like to provide more details so we can follow up on the specific behavior you witnessed, we’d be happy to investigate further.

I disagree that solar panels are garbage and more of a liability than anything.

A Soligo employee knocked on my door several times. Even tho his call was unsolicited he refused to leave my property when asked. He then proceeded to verbally accost me and threaten my life. He said he would kick my a** and that he was dying to throw a fade. He then proceeded to grab a handful of rocks from driveway and threw them at my personal vehicles. I have the entire interaction on video from my ring camera. I called local PD and notified our local civic association. I cannot upload a video but I did upload a screen shot of this upstanding young gentleman grabbing a handful of rocks to throw. I also have video of him threatening to throw rocks as well as calling me a piece of s*** Jew and he stated yeah Im a **** niggaPretty unacceptable behavior I will be flinging a complaint against the company with the **** in *******.

I want to personally and sincerely apologize for what happened. As soon as we were made aware of the situation, we took immediate action and fired the individual involved. His behavior was disgusting, completely unacceptable, and does not reflect who we are as a company.
There is absolutely no excuse for the threats, slurs, or aggression you described. I’m genuinely sorry that you had to experience something so disturbing. We are taking this very seriously and are reviewing our hiring and training procedures to make sure something like this never happens again.
If you're open to it, I would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly and apologize in person or over the phone. You didn’t deserve to be put through that, and we want to do everything we can to make it right.

At the end of February a sales *** from Soligo knocked on my door to try to sell me solar energy at my home in ********, *******. I ended up signing up for their program. The next day a sales *** from a competing company came to my door offering the same basic program, but at a lower rate and with a couple other perks. Because it was a better deal, I contacted the Soligo *** and told him I was cancelling my deal with them in lieu of a much better deal from the second company. This was on the third day. The Soligo *** agreed that it was a better deal and even said that he understood and would take that deal himself. After that the Soligo *** and another *** came back to my home three additional times trying to sway me from my decision and to sweeten their deal to match the other companys offer and offer me $500 to come with them. They had to call someone that I believe was named ***** to get a $500 offer approved to offset the cost difference from the other plan for the first year. Each time they came back, they would slam and disparage the other company and try to plant seeds of doubt. A **** league sales tactic and illustrates desperation to make a sale. If they thought they had a valid deal, why would they continue to come back and try to sweeten a deal? Because they had no deal. Since then they have threatened to put a lien on my home and then have sent me invoices for $3,500.00 as a cancellation fee and threatened to send me to a collection agency. They have done no work on my house and cant put a lien on my home, but continue to threaten a collection agency. I cancelled the sale on the Third day which is my legal right. They have not responded to emailed responses to their ********** a senior citizen, Soligo is harassing me and trying to take advantage of me by threatening ***** and sending me to a collection agency. Their tactics need to be exposed before they threaten other residents. Seniors beware!

    Business Response

    Date: 05/07/2025

We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation regarding this account. After thoroughly reviewing our records, we must respectfully refute the claims made in this complaint.
? We have no documentation or evidence of a cancellation request submitted within the legally required cancellation period. No written notice, no electronic communication, no phone call on record, nothing indicating the customer canceled prior to the expiration of their cancellation window.
? By the time we were informed of the customers intention to cancel, permits had already been submitted and approved, engineering work was completed, and expenses had been incurred on the project. At that stage, the cancellation clause in the signed contract is enforceable to cover the costs already committed.
? Unfortunately, it appears a representative from another company engaged in permit poaching tactics, attempting to secure the sale by undercutting our proposal with lower quality materials. It is critical to note that our contract was valid, and we had already performed work toward fulfilling that agreement in good faith.
Because of these facts, the cancellation fee remains valid and due as outlined in the original signed contract. We are committed to transparency and fairness in all of our customer interactions, but we must also uphold the terms of legally binding agreements and protect against unethical practices in the industry.
We would still be happy to discuss any outstanding concerns or provide documentation to clarify our position further.

I am rejecting this response because:I reject your response.  This was cancelled on the third day.  You know it and I know it.  This is nothing more than an attempt to try to bully a senior citizen. Into paying ridiculous charges.   If the deal had continued to be in place, the salesman would not have continued to come to my home and offer me more to match the other companies offering and to come back and offer me $500 to offset the saving I would get with the other company for the first year.  I was in sales management for **************************************************************************************************** place.

    Sincerely,

    ******* ****

    Business Response

    Date: 06/06/2025

Dear Mr. *********** appreciate your feedback, and while we understand your frustration, there are a few important facts that need to be clarified.
You stated that the project was canceled on the third day. However, both you and I know that is not true. No cancellation notice was ever submitted during the rescission period. Instead, we were contacted well after that timeframe, after permits had already been ordered and paid for. This timing directly coincides with contact from Freedom Solar, who clearly poached the deal.
At no point did you assign power of attorney to anyone else, and there was no indication that you were unable to make decisions for yourself. As a competent adult, you entered into the agreement voluntarily and allowed the project to move forward without objection until a competitor approached you with a new offer.
We will not waive a valid contractual fee based on false accusations of elder abuse. There is no legal support for such a claim, and the facts show this was a matter of buyer's remorse after being presented with an alternative offer.
We are still open to a professional resolution. However, we will continue to enforce the terms of the agreement that you signed and that we acted upon in good faith.

I am rejecting this response because:  I never said this was elder abuse.  I said you were trying to take advantage of a senior citizen, which you are.  Your sales *** was informed on the third day that I was cancelling out.  Hes more than aware of this otherwise he would not have continued to come to my house and offer me a ****** thermostat, a ****** door bell and finally $500 to offset your more expensive rates for the first year.  Again, if you thought you continued to have a deal, you would not continue to contact me and offer me more to stay with your company.  You sales *** even told me that the offer from the other company was a good deal and he would take it too.  The deal with you was cancelled.  Period.  I will continue to tell everyone I know in my neighborhood and on social media about your tactics.  You have not once answered emails Ive sent to you.  Not once, but instead only send invoices, which will not be paid.

On 3/6/2025 Mr ****** ***** and I had a conversation about his product, he asked me to sign it on his tablet to make sure that I classified. I told him that I DID NOT WANT A CONTRACT, he said that it was to verify acceptability ONLY. I also told him that I was waiting for my wife, and most importantly, that the payment had to be made with my insurance benefits card AETNA.Dillons coworker came to check my house and took pictures. I insisted that I DID NOT WANT A CONTRACT. He said not to worry about it. This visit was announced to me by ****** right before he left on 3/6/25 so I believe he knew he had already made me sign an actual contract against my will, and which is worst, without my knowledge ****** told me IT WAS ONLY to verify eligibility but told his company he had a sale and consequently created a $4000 debt ATTACHMENTS The Email that summarizes all the disagreement with ****** ***** on 3/6/25 about signing an application and not a contract.Text messages from March 6 to April 6 ****** and ****** do not show an approval text message saying that I had been accepted and if I wanted to sign the project continuation. Other documents, ******* ******* my Wifes Travel itinerary, and emails regarding these topics were not answered by Soligo team members

    Business Response

    Date: 04/28/2025

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
After a thorough review of this situation, including speaking directly with ****** *****, we would like to clarify a few important points. ****** remains adamant that he clearly explained during your meeting that you were signing a legally binding contract not merely verifying eligibility.
Furthermore, it is important to note that you voluntarily provided your full banking information at the time of signing. It would be highly unusual for anyone to provide sensitive financial details, including payment authorization, if they truly believed they were only being prequalified.
You were also provided copies of all documents you signed at the time of the appointment. From that point, you had three full business days to review the agreements a significant decision involving a 25-year commitment including the cancellation fee rate schedule you agreed to in writing. Had you chosen to exercise your right to cancel during that period, you were fully within your rights to do so.
Ultimately, we must rely on the legally binding contract you signed, not verbal conversations or recollections, which are considered hearsay and are not enforceable. The invoice and associated terms stand as issued.
If you have any further questions regarding the signed documents, we are happy to review them with you.
    Thank you.

It is highly disgusting for me to see Mr ****** lying without restrictions. Likewise, it is crystal clear to me now, that for this company any oral petition that a customer brings about during a business chatting with the seller, simply has no value at all. Definitely, when we are subjected to the intense pressure that selling people excerpt on us the customers, our values as human beings have absolutely no chance against the ambition of a sales person. Sadly, this is an ugly ****** I have learned from this deceptive approach to solar panels. You guys have a paperwork signed by me under illegal circumstances, and Iam challenging you by these means, to take me a polygraph test, hypnosis or whatever form of finding who is lying available, to finally prove that I am the one with the truth.

    Dear ******,
We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation regarding your contract with Soligo. While we understand that circumstances change, we want to ensure that the full and accurate details of this matter are addressed.
On February 6th, you had a recorded conversation with our team where you explicitly confirmed your decision to resign with Soligo and move forward with your solar installation. The next day, on February 7th, you officially signed to reaffirm your commitment. At that time, the cancellation fee was only $600, as minimal work had been completed. However, after you officially reaffirmed your contract, we proceeded with the necessary steps for installation, including securing permits, engineering designs, site inspections, and other administrative costs. Because of these significant expenses incurred after your February 7th signing, the cancellation fee increased to $6,000 to reflect the actual work completed on your project.
It was only after the installation was underway that you attempted to cancel, at which point it became evident that another company had taken over the project without following proper permitting procedures. This is a clear case of permit poaching, where a sales representative from another company searched for open permits, targeted you as an active customer, and undercut us to steal the dealeven though you had already reaffirmed your contract with Soligo. This is an unethical and deceptive practice, and we will not allow our company to be taken advantage of.
Additionally, we have all necessary documentation to support our case, including the recorded call from February 6th, in which you explicitly agreed to resign with us and continue moving forward. Since the BBB does not accept large files, we are unable to submit the recording directly here. However, we are more than happy to email the recording upon request to provide further proof that you knowingly resigned with Soligo before attempting to cancel after installation was underway.
While we regret that this situation has escalated, the cancellation fee of $6,000 remains valid and contractually obligated, covering the work we had already put into the project, including permitting, inspections, and other costs. We strongly encourage you to fulfill the terms of the contract that you reaffirmed on February 7th, or have the company that installed the panels cover the associated costs.
If you would like to discuss this further or request the recording, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:

    Sincerely,

****** ********. I disagree with that answer, as the events did not occur that way. I explained how the events unfolded, and i have proof of that. I have a time line of messages with your sellewr, including the message about the cancellation.

    ******,
We acknowledge your rejection of our previous response, but we stand by the facts and timeline of events. Regardless of any earlier conversations, you officially resigned the agreement with our company on February 7th, confirming your intent to move forward with your solar project.
Following that resignation, our team resumed full work on your account, including engineering, permitting, and preparation for installation. You did not notify us of any cancellation until we had already completed that work and were fully ready to install.
At that stage of the process, a significant amount of time and resources had been allocated, which is why the cancellation fee remains valid and due.
Text messages with a former salesperson do not override a legally binding agreement or the documented resignation date. We maintain clear internal records that support our position.
We remain open to resolving this matter professionally, but the fee stands based on the documented timeline and actions taken on your behalf.

I have always turned away Solar companies but on February 17 the salesman at my door from Soligo had a good sales pitch. I heard him out but at the end I still said NO I'M NOT INTERESTED. He still came by my house again with more information trying to change my mind. All I wanted to know was how much am I saving paying Soligo instead of FPL. He didn't have a good number to give me. He said the house still has to qualify and to sign a form for an inspector to come out and qualify the house. I did NOT sign anything. My name must of been auto filled by the salesman and his partner without telling me that this signature is me saying yes to put solar on my house. I'm still waiting for my savings at this point. He came back with an estimate of $30 to $50 a month saving if the panels produced enough energy to draw back from FPL. I told him, that is not a large enough saving to risk the hassle of damage to my roof and I do NOT want panels on my roof. I thought this was over until March 3. I received an email bill from Soligo for $2500 for cancelling. I received a call from Soligo wanting payment. I expained what happened but they didn't care. So here we are. All I want is the $2500 invoice to go away because of their mistake, not mine.

We are writing to formally respond to the complaint submitted by ***** **** regarding the invoice we issued.
Our company operates with clear and legally binding agreements. In this case, the customer signed a contractual agreement and completed a Notice of Commencement (NOC) to authorize us to begin the project. Additionally, we incurred costs on this account, including ordering materials and scheduling an installation date.
Furthermore, the customer proceeded with providing their banking information to ********** and completed a welcome call where the financing company explicitly outlines that they are moving forward with a solar installation. These steps go beyond a preliminary discussion and confirm their commitment to the project.
The late cancellation of the project does not absolve the customer of their financial responsibility for the expenses incurred. As such, the invoice remains valid and due as issued.
We have provided supporting documentation, including signed agreements, Permits, Engineering documents etc.. to demonstrate our position. Please let us know if you require further clarification.

It looks Like ****** did not see your messages which is why there wasn't a response.  I am helping with BBB complaints and will ensure they are taken care of in a timely manner.  If you could please reinstate our company to be in good standing again it would be greatly appreciated. I do not have the option to respond to this complaint on file but if you reopen the case I would be more than happy to give the customer a response.

Hello, I'm ******, one of the four founders of Soligo. As a veteran-owned company, we take pride in having many satisfied customers. Occasionally, we hire contractors for sales, which can lead to outcomes that some people may not prefer. I have emailed the customer to inform them that we have addressed the issue and discussed it with the sales representative who visited them.

This company keeps sending salesmen even after we have repeatedly said we don't want their product, solar panels. They have been to our property at least 3 times this year, 2024. Their salesmen ignore our feedback, we don't want solar panels, and refuse to note that we don't want anymore salesmen visiting. When I call during office hours to report their salesmen behavior the call is dropped. We want them to stop sending salesmen to our property. We do not want solar panels.

As a veteran-owned business, we have high standards and it's not the image we want to portray. I apologize for the inconvenience. Our sales representatives are contractors, and I will instruct them to stop knocking in your area. If you have specific names, please let me know so I can take appropriate action. Our business phone should be working fine, so I will contact our tech team to find out why your calls are not going through. Thank you!
