A ***** repair technician responded to repair a buried telephone cable that sustained third-party damage during an excavation project. Unfortunately, there was no one on site working when the tech arrived. ***** issued a demand for reimbursement of repair costs based upon information submitted by the responding ***** repairman. JNR did not create the subject claim, nor did JNR determine who should receive the demand. We're simply handling the matter on *****'s behalf.
JNR has to proceed based on information received, until there is additional information suggesting further investigation may be necessary. After speaking with the complainant and reviewing the information in the file, we acknowledge ***** may have issued their demand based on a vague or otherwise incomplete description of the loss location. Upon that discovery, our representative immediately asked ***** to clarify. That was just on 12/9/2021 and it's been less than three (3) full business days since making that request.
We apologize our representative has yet to respond further, but ***** has not confirmed a more precise damage location. Nevertheless, at this juncture, based on the photographic evidence alone, it seems very clear the loss did not occur on the complainants property as the demand originally indicated. The complainant should not receive any further communication from JNR with regard to the damages, and should consider the matter closed.
We apologize for any inconvenience *****'s demand may have caused and should the complainant have any further concerns, they should not hesitate to contact our representative at any time.
