We called this company to put a roof on our home, was given a quote and we finally agreed upon a price of $REMOVEDwith REMOVED, we told REMOVEDthat' this was all the money we had, but our insurance company said we needed to get a roof to get a renewal. Contract was signed and they started the roof replacement, the next thing I hear from REMOVEDyou need some plywood replaced and that's more money, I told him I have no more money, my husband ended up having surgery and has been out of work for almost 2 months and i am broke. I told REMOVEDstop the job we cant afford to pay another dime, REMOVEDtells me don't worry we will straighten it out in the back end, I said I don't know what that means but I have no more money, I than I said I do have 6 pieces of plywood in my shed the same thing that is on my roof use that, he told me no. They took it upon themselves to finish the roof and then sent me a bill wanting a extra $700.00. I am willing to pay the REMOVED, but they refuse to send me a invoice with balance due of REMOVED. Thank you for any help
Business Response

We understand that unexpected expenses can be stressful, and we sympathize with your family situation. That said, we must clarify several important points regarding your roof replacement.
-As outlined in the contract you signed prior to the start of work, any damaged or rotted decking discovered during tear-off must be replaced in order to comply with Florida Building Code and local building code requirements and to pass final inspection. Roofing contractors are not legally permitted to install a new roofing system over compromised decking, nor can we reuse customer-supplied materials for structural decking due to code, liability, and warranty restrictions.
-Once the existing roof was removed, it became clear (and we documented the rotted wood with photos) that 9 sheets of plywood were deteriorated and required replacement by code. At that point, the roof could not be safely or legally left unfinished. Stopping the job mid-installation would have exposed your home to weather damage and created additional risk and cost.
-We also want to note that the additional charge of $75 per sheet is significantly below the industry standard, which typically ranges from $150$200 per sheet. We intentionally keep this cost as low as possible for homeowners and do not profit from plywood replacement.
-Because the plywood replacement was necessary, documented, and expressly covered under the contract you signed, the additional balance is valid and due. We are therefore unable to issue an invoice reflecting only the original contract amount of $11,700.
We remain willing to work with you in good faith regarding payment arrangements, but we must stand by the contract terms and the work that was required to complete your roof properly and legally.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
The roofing company completed a job that they were told to stop the job once REMOVEDtold me about the wood that needed replacing, and due to i have no more money, because my husband had to have surgery and now can't go back to work until February, he has been out of work for almost 2 months, so when I was told about the wood I told REMOVEDto stop the job or use my wood and REMOVEDtook it upon himself to complete the job knowing I had no more money. So REMOVEDneeds to be held responsible for the $580.00, not us. I told REMOVEDto STOP all work on the roof, due to I could not pay for it, I had to borrow money just so I could pay the $11,700.00 . I am broke that is why I told REMOVEDto stop the job or use my wood and he did neither.Sincerely

I would like to bring up:
-Central Homes Roofing has not been paid the $11,700
-We gave 2 free sheets of plywood so the cost due is $580.
-We are willing to work with the customer with a payment plan.
-REMOVEDOR ANYONE ELSE DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO STOP THE REMOVEDLEAVE A ROOFING JOB UNFINISHED AND UNCOVERED, FOR ANY REASON BECAUSE IF IT RAINS THE INSIDE OF THE HOUSE WOULD GET WET.
Next steps:
-Lawyer will send a demand letter.
-A lien will be placed on your property by Central Homes Roofing. (you will not be able to re-finance or sell the house until the full amount is paid)
-Central Homes Roofing will not pay for the materials through our distributor which will initiate another lien by the distributor.
-Central Homes Roofing will begin charging interest.

on 05/14/2025 I acquire an estimate on the roof that was damage by a peril that cause rain, hail and wind to enter my home interior and exterior. I obtain this estimate by Central Home Roofing. I had their representative to come out and make an assessment on the damage to the roof and ceiling. It was communicated to me by REMOVEDthat the damage was caused by the Peril and estimate was forward. In the interim I am fighting with the insurance with the REMOVED, I find out the insurance made contact with Central Home Roofing representative REMOVEDand communication to the insurance on his assessment was not shared with me. He communicated his opinion that the roof was damage by wear and tear due to the supplies used to put the roof on. REMOVEDdid not discuss this with me, nor did I sign his estimate presented to discuss with the insurance less alone to obtain his service. I feel this was a breach of my privacy and I was kept in the dark on discussion between the two parties. My rights have been violated as well as my trust and Central Homes need to correct this matter asap or compensate for the loss. The email forward stated REMOVEDadvise screws were needed and not nails. Yet his invoice states nails will be used to repair the roof. Central Homes communication of an opinion that was not shared or given consent and has caused a financial hardship which is the result of a terminal illness.

I am in response to the phone calls received and unable to answer due to a number of medical appointments that take president over this unforeseen event. I attached again the comments that was communicated to the Department of insurance by the Insurance concerning the conversation they had with Central Home Roofing employee. A conversation that he admits has taken place. I have not spoken with the insurance on any estimate from Central Home and have not given them the authority to contact the estimator. Yes, I sent the estimate over to them at their request. which is normal protocol. However, I never consent for REMOVEDto speak with them or give an opinion on the structure build of the roof. Nor did I sign and date to confirm that the roof was to be repaired by Central Homes Roofing with the insurance. Don't know why my claim at this point has to do with any opinion furnished by Central Home as stated in their email to the REMOVED

Central Homes replaced my roof in 2018 at a cost of $15,900. In July of REMOVEDmy garage during a rainstorm. The leak only happens when we get rain with a strong wind. The supervisor, REMOVED, sent a warranty group out and they said the issue was that the dryer vent on the roof above the garage was not sealed properly by the installers. They resealed the dryer vent and said once we could confirm the leak was fixed, they would set up the drywall repair for the ceiling in the garage. I continued to get a leak during rainstorms. Central Homes came back out and tried to the find the leak by spraying water from my hose by the dryer vent, but they were not able to recreate the leak. The supervisor of the crew, REMOVEDagreed there was a leak covered by the warranty but would not do any drywall repairs until we were sure the leak had been fixed. After the visit, it occurred to me that maybe the leak was being caused by the wind blowing rain up the roof. I asked them to come out and check again except spray the water up the roof instead. This caused water to leak in the garage. The crew reported this back to REMOVEDwho texted me saying a small piece (about an inch in diameter) of a shingle was missing. He claimed myself or someone else worked on the roof and he was not responsible for any further repairs or warranty. No one has worked on the roof except for Central Homes and the leak has never been stopped so I am not sure how a little piece of shingle missing would completely void the warranty. After REMOVEDtold me he would not honor the warranty, I tried to call him several times and he refused to respond. I then called the Central Homes office on two different occasions and explained the situation and was told someone would call me, which has not happened. I have been treated very unfairly and would like my roof leak and my drywall damage in my garage repaired under the Central Homes roof warranty.

As you know, the warranty on your roof was voided after the last hurricane.
During our inspection, we identified and photographed a small leak in a gooseneck vent, which we subsequently repaired. We also identified a leak in your chimney siding and provided a quote for its replacement. You declined this quote.
We have since been informed that you have identified a leak near the previously repaired gooseneck vent. We believe that this damage was manufactured by you, as we have photographic evidence of the area before and after our repair. Additionally, the warranty on your roof was voided due to hurricane damage, and you declined our quote for chimney repair.Customer Answer

Complaint: REMOVEDI called Central Homes to address three leaks in my roof. Central Homes made repairs under warranty but was unable to find the garage leak. Central represented throughout the process that fixing the garage leak once it was found and repairing the damaged drywall was covered under warranty. As to the leaks, I never found the source of the garage leak. Central found the garage leak when I asked them to do a more extensive test to try and find the leak since their original repair did not stop the leak. The leak existed before and after the one inch piece of one shingle was found to be missing so it would seem the leak is not related to the small missing part of one shingle.
It is very unfair to say for months that repairs are covered under warranty and then refuse to cover those repairs when the leak is found.
Sincerely,
REMOVED

1. chimney leak had nothing to do with the roof
2. boot leak. we replaced even though it was determined that it was a plumbing issue where water backed up and flowed out of the boot
3. Dryer vent leak. There was no water intrusion until the hurricane blew some wind driven rain up and into the gooseneck causing it to leak once. We water checked AND IT DIDN'T LEAK. We still sealed again to ensure no future leaks. We have before and after photos of this seal attempt. We realized the homeowner lifted shingles after we were there and is saying that the water came in from the lifted shingles that he created (we have photo proof).
REMOVEDWe're sending an inspector to show that the leak stain in the garage is a past old leak for years. It doesn't have anything to do with the one time it leaked during the hurricane. HOMEONWER WILL NOT ANSER THE INSPECTOR'S CALL.
REMOVEDThey're trying to have us replace interior damage that was there before. They still have interior damage inside of the house from other problems such as A/C unit leaking.

I am rejecting this response because:As previously stated, I have had multiple instances of the leak in the garage which happened both before and after the repair Central made. I do not have an AC in my garage. The inspector was given my wife's number for some reason and she is not involved. The inspector and I spoke a few days ago and he is scheduled to come out on Thursday March 6. The inspector is from another roofing company and he sounded fair when we spoke. It is concerning that Central now states "We're sending an inspector to show that the leak stain in the garage is a past old leak for years". How would the inspector know any of that having never been to my home? I hope a fair assessment is made.

I had a new roof put on my house Oct 2021. In 2023 it leaked causing damage inside. Took multiple phone calls and about 4 months for them to fix it. This year after REMOVED, about 35 shingles came off at the same area from last years leak and ruined my inside ceiling and light fixtures from water. They are stating "hurricane clause" and not responsible. I'm claiming faulty workmanship. They reluctantly fixed the outer roof but are refusing to fix the interior damage.

REMOVED, when we did a repair in 2023 we did not take 4 months to fix it. We have records and notations of immediately calling you back, however you would not answer your phone for the service techs. They even showed up to the property because we could not get an answer via phone, this is all in our internal system. You called June 30th 2023 and we were finally able to reach you and perform the repair July of 2023.
Now we had a major hurricane hit Florida with winds up to 90mph which voided the workmanship warranty as this is an act of god. Again you called our main office one time while all power was out post hurricane. We called you back multiple times and could not get a response, we have text messages of this as well where you informed us you have phone issues some times and dont receive messages?
We explained that due to how strong the hurricane was, it is not the workmanship that caused the shingles to fly off but a literal act of god and that is not covered under the warranty.
NONE THE LESS, TO HELP THE SITUATION WE OFFERED TO FIX THE ROOF COMPLETELY FOR FREE, HOWEVER, WE INFORMED YOU WE CANNOT COVER THE INTERIOR AS AGAIN, THIS IS AN ACT OF GOD AND OUT OF OUR CONTROL.
So yes, we cannot cover your interior to be fixed for something that was not our fault, and we went above and beyond what our warranty even covers by fixing your roof for free. Yes we have received your threats about contacting an attorney and again have tried to reach out with no response... An option you did have which were not interested is filing an insurance claim as this was hurricane damage and an act of god. I am assuming you still have this option even though we fixed the hurricane damage free of charge.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:I did call for 4 months in 2023 with no response. I absolutely believe it was faulty workmanship as it leaked just after 2 years with no storm relationship. Then the exact same area loses approximately 35 shingles. This storm was under 70 mph steady, gusts under 90. Thus should never have happened. I will not accept the answer

Our flat roof was REMOVEDlaced Aug 2023 by Central Homes. During the fixing of our roof their workers got an unknown chemical on our back porch. These workers showed up several times unannounced to try to "fix" the splatter marks all over our porch by pressure washing, trying to paint over it with a color they thought looked similar, until eventually they agreed to pay a professional painter to fix it. After hurricane REMOVEDwe had significant water damage inside our walls along our back sliding doors as a result of the flat roof being poorly installed. Water was coming into our house and collected into buckets. Also had water mitigation company come after the fact to let us know about water damage inside our walls. We asked for a REMOVEDfrom their company to look at it and they said everything was fine and placed the blame on another roofing company who fixed our main roof. We then had the company who fixed our main roof come out and they found several errors with the flat roof, such as a hole that cause the water damage as well as other issues only a knowledgable/experienced roofer would know. He also placed a patch over the hole to help with any further water damage. He gave us the pictures and a detailed REMOVEDort. Central homes then denied our warrantee saying the company who fixed the flat roof touched their work so they can't guarantee anything that happens and then made ridiculous remarks stating their work was messed up by the weight of the equipment from the other roofing company. Now they are completely ignoring us and refuse to pay for the water damage even though we have mold and I am a family of 2 babies and a toddler.

We had noticed a roof leak, and called this company for a quote. (2018). They sold us on the 7 year workmanship warranty. Roof was put on 2018. All seemed fine until we recently started seeing damage to ceilings in 3 areas, including a window. Called the company, a representative came out, saw all damage. Claiming all would be covered under the warranty as clearly things were caused by the roof. The company now would not answer any calls or show up for repairs. Over two weeks later after leaving a review, someone finally showed up for repairs including wood. First repair wasnt done correctly. They were confused as it appeared the roof had a repair because of some metal piece that had been shingled over. It was rusted. Had to call back. Second one showed with a 3 year old son, and wife. I was asked if I had a ladder they could borrow plus power tools. Wow. The 3 year old threw rocks from my entrance way at my windows and home while the mother wasnt paying attention. She was on her phone. Many contractors came and went. Looking for quotes. They brought one in as well. Still nothing done. The next step was an engineer because of structural damage. So here comes the engineer. Finally we are moving forward. (Again we were told, not only verbal, but in writing that all repairs were cover.). This engineer wasnt an engineer at all, he is a general contractor. He clearly wasnt informed about what things looked like before the repairs were done (so he could actually tell were the damage came from) before he was brought in. He never went on the roof, he guessed many things without proof or without all knowledge. Including a clogged gutter. Not even close. This company now refuses to cover any damage, and told me to contact their attorney.. The report given from an engineering company, was signed off from an engineer that never set foot in my home. This company gave us a run around for months, and now they want to do nothing. Unacceptable.

Central Homes will always go back and fix things we have caused. We do it all of the time, however, confirming with the engineer we employed concerning their report and findings, it appears that you experienced water damage and termite damage before we began working for you. We recommend you employ your own engineers to perform an examination, and you will realize that the degree of your damage did not result from a small roof leak. Once again, we will fix anything we may have caused, if we caused any damage at all, we just ask that you perform your own due diligence so we're on the same page as to the type of damage that our engineer found vs the damage from a small leak would have caused.Customer Answer

Last October 2023, the central homes company replaced the roof of the house. During the work, 3 new Skylights was installed, on the 9th of October one of these Skylights leaked so I proceeded to call the Sales Representative REMOVEDwith whom I signed the contract from the beginning, he contacted REMOVEDsuperintendent, REMOVEDsaid they would come to change it, 3 days later they came to change it was a water stain on the wall as a result of waiting, I didn't do anything about it, in December drops of water started to appear on 2 of the skylights, inside the skylight it became like sweat with drops of water, I called REMOVEDand he sent all the photos and videos to REMOVEDnever called me and I had to REMOVEDagain for REMOVEDto contact me, in The conversation with REMOVEDsaid that he didn't know why that was happening but he was sure that it couldn't happen that, they had to be changed to a low profile that he knew would help, he told me to give him a few days to get the people to do The change, on Monday, January 8, REMOVEDcalled me again that he had to go see what was happening because he didn't know if it was the skylights. He came to the house on January 10 and checked and said that everything seemed fine with the skylights. that there was nothing he could do, that he was going to call the skylight company so that they could see what was happening and that the same day he called me to give me an answer, he never called me, I called central homes REMOVEDI told him the representative who contacted me with a manager bigger than REMOVEDand didn't do it,she told me to going to tell someone to call me, they never called me, I am going to take legal measures since the problem with my skylights has not been resolved, the water continues to reach my wall as a result of sweat, I have photos, videos, messages and recorded phone calls from the beginning of this problem, I wanted to solve it without reaching the legal point and it didn't work.

We will replace the skylights with low profile skylights. We are currently working on doing so.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: To this day 01/24/24 I have not received a call, message or anything that says that the skylights are going to be replaced, there is no communication from the company, unprofessional, and lack of respect with the customer.
Sincerely,
REMOVED
