Central Homes replaced my roof in 2018 at a cost of $15,900. In July of ********************************************** my garage during a rainstorm. The leak only happens when we get rain with a strong wind. The supervisor, ******, sent a warranty group out and they said the issue was that the dryer vent on the roof above the garage was not sealed properly by the installers. They resealed the dryer vent and said once we could confirm the leak was fixed, they would set up the drywall repair for the ceiling in the garage. I continued to get a leak during rainstorms. Central Homes came back out and tried to the find the leak by spraying water from my hose by the dryer vent, but they were not able to recreate the leak. The supervisor of the crew, ****** agreed there was a leak covered by the warranty but would not do any drywall repairs until we were sure the leak had been fixed. After the visit, it occurred to me that maybe the leak was being caused by the wind blowing rain up the roof. I asked them to come out and check again except spray the water up the roof instead. This caused water to leak in the garage. The crew reported this back to ****** who texted me saying a small piece (about an inch in diameter) of a shingle was missing. He claimed myself or someone else worked on the roof and he was not responsible for any further repairs or warranty. No one has worked on the roof except for Central Homes and the leak has never been stopped so I am not sure how a little piece of shingle missing would completely void the warranty. After ****** told me he would not honor the warranty, I tried to call him several times and he refused to respond. I then called the Central Homes office on two different occasions and explained the situation and was told someone would call me, which has not happened. I have been treated very unfairly and would like my roof leak and my drywall damage in my garage repaired under the Central Homes roof warranty.

      Business Response

As you know, the warranty on your roof was voided after the last hurricane.

During our inspection, we identified and photographed a small leak in a gooseneck vent, which we subsequently repaired. We also identified a leak in your chimney siding and provided a quote for its replacement. You declined this quote.

We have since been informed that you have identified a leak near the previously repaired gooseneck vent. We believe that this damage was manufactured by you, as we have photographic evidence of the area before and after our repair. Additionally, the warranty on your roof was voided due to hurricane damage, and you declined our quote for chimney repair.

      Complaint: ********

I called Central Homes to address three leaks in my roof.  Central Homes made repairs under warranty but was unable to find the garage leak.  Central represented throughout the process that fixing the garage leak once it was found and repairing the damaged drywall was covered under warranty.  As to the leaks, I never found the source of the garage leak. Central found the garage leak when I asked them to do a more extensive test to try and find the leak since their original repair did not stop the leak.  The leak existed before and after the one inch piece of one shingle was found to be missing so it would seem the leak is not related to the small missing part of one shingle.

It is very unfair to say for months that repairs are covered under warranty and then refuse to cover those repairs when the leak is found.

      Sincerely,

      ******* *****

      1.  chimney leak had nothing to do with the roof

      2.  boot leak.  we replaced even though it was determined that it was a plumbing issue where water backed up and flowed out of the boot

      3.  Dryer vent leak.  There was no water intrusion until the hurricane blew some wind driven rain up and into the gooseneck causing it to leak once.  We water checked AND IT DIDN'T LEAK.  We still sealed again to ensure no future leaks.  We have before and after photos of this seal attempt.  We realized the homeowner lifted shingles after we were there and is saying that the water came in from the lifted shingles that he created (we have photo proof).

**We're sending an inspector to show that the leak stain in the garage is a past old leak for years.  It doesn't have anything to do with the one time it leaked during the hurricane.  HOMEONWER WILL NOT ANSER THE INSPECTOR'S CALL.

**They're trying to have us replace interior damage that was there before.  They still have interior damage inside of the house from other problems such as A/C unit leaking.

      Complaint: 22989121

I am rejecting this response because:

As previously stated, I have had multiple instances of the leak in the garage which happened both before and after the repair Central made.  I do not have an AC in my garage.  The inspector was given my wife's number for some reason and she is not involved.  The inspector and I spoke a few days ago and he is scheduled to come out on Thursday March 6.  The inspector is from another roofing company and he sounded fair when we spoke. It is concerning that Central now states "We're sending an inspector to show that the leak stain in the garage is a past old leak for years".  How would the inspector know any of that having never been to my home?  I hope a fair assessment is made.

I had a new roof put on my house Oct 2021. In 2023 it leaked causing damage inside. Took multiple phone calls and about 4 months for them to fix it. This year after ******, about 35 shingles came off at the same area from last years leak and ruined my inside ceiling and light fixtures from water. They are stating "hurricane clause" and not responsible. I'm claiming faulty workmanship. They reluctantly fixed the outer roof but are refusing to fix the interior damage.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/04/2024

****, when we did a repair in 2023 we did not take 4 months to fix it. We have records and notations of immediately calling you back, however you would not answer your phone for the service techs. They even showed up to the property because we could not get an answer via phone, this is all in our internal system. You called June 30th 2023 and we were finally able to reach you and perform the repair July of 2023.

Now we had a major hurricane hit Florida with winds up to 90mph which voided the workmanship warranty as this is an act of god. Again you called our main office one time while all power was out post hurricane. We called you back multiple times and could not get a response, we have text messages of this as well where you informed us you have phone issues some times and dont receive messages?

We explained that due to how strong the hurricane was, it is not the workmanship that caused the shingles to fly off but a literal act of god and that is not covered under the warranty.

NONE THE LESS, TO HELP THE SITUATION WE OFFERED TO FIX THE ROOF COMPLETELY FOR FREE, HOWEVER, WE INFORMED YOU WE CANNOT COVER THE INTERIOR AS AGAIN, THIS IS AN ACT OF GOD AND OUT OF OUR CONTROL.

So yes, we cannot cover your interior to be fixed for something that was not our fault, and we went above and beyond what our warranty even covers by fixing your roof for free. Yes we have received your threats about contacting an attorney and again have tried to reach out with no response... An option you did have which were not interested is filing an insurance claim as this was hurricane damage and an act of god. I am assuming you still have this option even though we fixed the hurricane damage free of charge.

I am rejecting this response because:

I did call for 4 months in 2023 with no response. I absolutely believe it was faulty workmanship as it leaked just after 2 years with no storm relationship. Then the exact same area loses approximately 35 shingles. This storm was under 70 mph steady, gusts under 90. Thus should never have happened. I will not accept the answer

Our flat roof was ***laced Aug 2023 by Central Homes. During the fixing of our roof their workers got an unknown chemical on our back porch. These workers showed up several times unannounced to try to "fix" the splatter marks all over our porch by pressure washing, trying to paint over it with a color they thought looked similar, until eventually they agreed to pay a professional painter to fix it. After hurricane ****** we had significant water damage inside our walls along our back sliding doors as a result of the flat roof being poorly installed. Water was coming into our house and collected into buckets. Also had water mitigation company come after the fact to let us know about water damage inside our walls. We asked for a *** from their company to look at it and they said everything was fine and placed the blame on another roofing company who fixed our main roof. We then had the company who fixed our main roof come out and they found several errors with the flat roof, such as a hole that cause the water damage as well as other issues only a knowledgable/experienced roofer would know. He also placed a patch over the hole to help with any further water damage. He gave us the pictures and a detailed ***ort. Central homes then denied our warrantee saying the company who fixed the flat roof touched their work so they can't guarantee anything that happens and then made ridiculous remarks stating their work was messed up by the weight of the equipment from the other roofing company. Now they are completely ignoring us and refuse to pay for the water damage even though we have mold and I am a family of 2 babies and a toddler.

We had noticed a roof leak, and called this company for a quote. (2018). They sold us on the 7 year workmanship warranty. Roof was put on 2018. All seemed fine until we recently started seeing damage to ceilings in 3 areas, including a window. Called the company, a representative came out, saw all damage. Claiming all would be covered under the warranty as clearly things were caused by the roof. The company now would not answer any calls or show up for repairs. Over two weeks later after leaving a review, someone finally showed up for repairs including wood. First repair wasnt done correctly. They were confused as it appeared the roof had a repair because of some metal piece that had been shingled over. It was rusted. Had to call back. Second one showed with a 3 year old son, and wife. I was asked if I had a ladder they could borrow plus power tools. Wow. The 3 year old threw rocks from my entrance way at my windows and home while the mother wasnt paying attention. She was on her phone. Many contractors came and went. Looking for quotes. They brought one in as well. Still nothing done. The next step was an engineer because of structural damage. So here comes the engineer. Finally we are moving forward. (Again we were told, not only verbal, but in writing that all repairs were cover.). This engineer wasnt an engineer at all, he is a general contractor. He clearly wasnt informed about what things looked like before the repairs were done (so he could actually tell were the damage came from) before he was brought in. He never went on the roof, he guessed many things without proof or without all knowledge. Including a clogged gutter. Not even close. This company now refuses to cover any damage, and told me to contact their attorney.. The report given from an engineering company, was signed off from an engineer that never set foot in my home. This company gave us a run around for months, and now they want to do nothing. Unacceptable.

Central Homes will always go back and fix things we have caused.  We do it all of the time, however, confirming with the engineer we employed concerning their report and findings, it appears that you experienced water damage and termite damage before we began working for you. We recommend you employ your own engineers to perform an examination, and you will realize that the degree of your damage did not result from a small roof leak.  Once again, we will fix anything we may have caused, if we caused any damage at all, we just ask that you perform your own due diligence so we're on the same page as to the type of damage that our engineer found vs the damage from a small leak would have caused.

      Customer Answer

I have all documentation proving they caused the damage.  Pictures are worth a thousand words.  They dont have them, we do.  They caused the issues.  Again they didnt have an engineer on our property.  Our attorney will rip that report to shreds.  They caused the damage and they need to repair it.  We have everything we need.

We stand by our engineer report.  You had damage long before we showed up.  Once again, would be happy to fix anything we caused but you will need to point that out amongst the excessive damage you've had.  We encourage you to hire your own engineer so you can see for yourself.  Central Homes is not in the business of taking advantage of customers in this way.  We went out and fixed our leak area.  It doesn't leak.

I paid Central Roofing LLC , to replace my roof on June 7, 2021. I was given a 7 year warranty on parts and labor. The new roof is now leaking. I contacted the company and sent pictures over 4 weeks ago and there is no reply. I called and left messages on several occasions but still have not heard from them. Chase L****** and Trevor D**** solicited me about putting a new roof on. We went into my garage because it was raining and I told them I couldn't afford a new roof at that time as I hadn't worked in 2 years and was probably going to have to sell my home. I said I knew there would be an insurance deductible and I could not afford it. They saw how sick I was and said that they would forego the deductible. Well, I had to sell my closing is one month from today and the title company just called and said they put a lien on my house and I cannot close until it is paid. I am screwed at this point.

Original contract was signed in 09/21 for our roof-we had knowledge from the sales person that there was an excess of debris in the valleys of the roof which needed to be cleaned, sealed, and all ridges needed to be sealed and re-concreted.Work started in November of 2021 - the company hired a sub-contractor who came out for a single shift and "completed what was assigned to him". When i called the sales person, ****, and sent him photos of the work showing that only a portion of the work was completed and that the roof area that was previously leaking was still leaking he was pretty frustrated as he knew the work was not done to his expectation. He ensured someone would be back to complete the work properly. Approximately 2 weeks later, two people came back to finish and attempt to correct what was not properly done. A week after this I called **** again as the leak was still progressing and wasn't fixed. They sent another person who came and worked in the dark on my roof - causing a bunch of cosmetic damage to the outside of the home but ultimately seemed to seal what we saw as an active leak. I processed full payment at this time (January of 2022). At this time, I believed the water intrusion was solved. Over the next several months I smelled a musty odor coming from the 2nd floor (above where the water was initially spotted). In 08/2022 we noticed water damage again in the same area as where it was previously. At this time I first reached back out to ****. After not hearing back from him after multiple attempts I attempted to reach out to the company's main number to which I had no response on multiple occasions. I finally was able to reach someone in their accounting department on Nov 17 to which I received a phone call on 11/21/22 after making threats of legal action. Unfortunately, the roof was NEVER actually fixed-the cause of the problem is evident and extremely apparent from a valley. This has a major mold issue in my home & major health concerns.

This gentleman stole our sales rep's ****** and was holding it hostage from our sales rep.  We did a repair for him over a year ago.  He wanted us to warranty the repair and also complete other repairs without wanting to pay extra money after the hurricanes last year.  He was wanting us to refund him the money from the repair we did in 2021, which is now over its year warranty and also went through 2 hurricanes.

I am rejecting this response because:

Telling me in writing I stole your sales rep ****** is an insult and an accusation of theft in which I do not take lightly. I will be presenting this to local authorities. Your sales person without your knowledge left his ****** on my roof. It was found from a competitor of yours which came out to actually look at the damage your company caused and NEVER FIXED. The leaks that we had your company come out to fix were never repaired and I have documented proof they tie in together from text messages I received from your sales people. Additionally because this wasnt resolved and your company failed to get back to me after numerous outreaches PRIOR to the hurricanes, the situation has grown into one that has caused my family irrevocable health concerns. Additionally the leaks that persisted caused us additional damage in an area Ive already paid to fix once. I have text messages, invoices, pictures, and witnesses to these statements that if not resolved amicably here will be resolved by my legal team.

      Sincerely,

      *******************

Roof installed around September 15, 2021. Leaked during Hurricane *** due to shoddy workmanship, flashing was incorrectly installed, no silicone caused Bathroom ceiling underneath badly installed roof to collapse. Company came out to do repairs and was caught using old moldy warped plywood by son and friends, **** the manager got irritated and left job site with his crew and called the police, leaving the roof with a 3 foot square hole because of missing plywood and no shingles.

      ***Document Attached***
We installed the roof for ******************* 09/2021 in which the roof passed final and there were no issues regarding the install from the homeowner. On 09/20/2022 the ** contacted Central Homes in regards to a leak that occurred during Hurricane ***. Previous to the hurricane we were not made aware of any issues that *** be ongoing with the roof prior to the hurricane. The ** is claiming that the damage was caused from "shotty" work and not the fact we just had a Hurricane.
We then sent a team out to attempt to assist the ** in the repairs that were needed. At this point our team removed shingles from the area of concern and ended up finding that there were damages to the siding of the house causing the water damage (central homes did not touch the siding during original roof job). We still were continuing to assist this ** with the repairs until her son and some neighbors/friends showed up to "critique" our work.
At this point the son and other persons begin to yell and curse at our employees (including the manager on site). We began to try and reconcile their complaints, at which that point our crew was met with threats from them. They were threatening our crew with physical harm as well as destroying our company property (tools, truck, dumpster). We then instructed our crew to call the police and to leave the property as they were threatening them and throwing tools across the property. The police were called and they were able to assist in the manner of getting our tools and crew off of the property safely. Not only were we going out of our way to help a ** after a Hurricane (our warranty doesn't cover damages due to named storms) which we weren't obligated to do, we also attempted to reconcile this without going this far, with no avail. I have uploaded a police report with the interaction of the exchange between both parties and law enforcement. Law enforcement advised us to not come back to this property without assistance as this isn't the first encounter they have had at this property.

April 11, 2022, Appointment with Aaron M********* at my home. No documents were signed. Initials on documents were downloaded from Aaron M*********'s cell phone (my mistake). He returned to his office, prepared and signed with an electronic signature a Contractor Agreement Disclosures, Contract with an AOB (An Assignment of Benefits), and other required documents without my knowledge or approval. My husband never met with Aaron M*********. April 15, 2022, Appointment with Insurance Adjuster. Adjuster asked if a contract had been signed with a roofing company. My Answer: NO. Unaware a contract was prepared and signed on April 11, 2022, without my knowledge. After reviewing these documents, I accused Aaron M********* of scamming me. Unfortunately, he did not deny it. Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2022/07/27) */ The husband signed documents and claims he doesn't remember. He is an older gentleman. The wife is attempting to profit from insurance proceeds which is a felony. We put on 250 roofs per month and have 4.9 stars on google. These allegations are completely false and baseless. Consumer Response /* (3000, 16, 2022/08/04) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) For Central Homes Roofing to stoop this low is unconscionable. This is not a response it's lies and slander. Documents were signed by Aaron M********* using an electronic signature in his haste to secure a contract. Yes, my husband is an older gentleman 82 years old. I am his 81 years old wife. We were both employed by the Federal Government with security clearance 30 plus years. Retired in 1997. Living a comfortable life. I have neither the need nor desire to illegally profit from insurance proceeds. Business Response /* (4000, 18, 2022/08/08) */ We spoke with Mr. ******** last week. He lives in New York for the summertime and at the property address on file is for the Wintertime. When we spoke to Mr. ********, he seemed calm and perfectly fine. He asked me for an estimate. I have tasked for an estimate to be created to include all of the items. I then sent for the measurements of the gutters and do a proper roof takedown. We are waiting on interior estimate to include the interior cost in the total estimate. Not sure why anyone is so upset, but he did not mention anything negative to us nor did he mention he wanted out of the contract or felt that he didn't sign up with us. He has a check from the attorney and is ready to move forward with us. Consumer Response /* (4200, 20, 2022/08/09) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This has gone completely off the rails. This is not a response to the complaint. I have no knowledge of your Mr. ******** he is not related to me. Not in New York. Never lived/owned property in New York.
