I paid for a permit and the contractor did not pull a permit or close one out when they performed work in 2022. I found out when I attempted to sell my property. They pulled a permit in June 2024 but have not been back out to resolve with the county and do not return phones calls to get this issue resolved.Business Response

We have been very frustrated over this ordeal. We pulled a pemit for the new roof we installed for this company called ************************
When we went to close the permit out and did not realize till recently that they did not close our pemrit out. So, in turn we called the building department to ask why they have not closed our permit out. The building department told me they could not close our permit out because there was a lot of remodeling done to this home without a permit.
From our understaning, the owner of this property had to hire a contractor and have all the unpermited work permited and then have it all inspected and once that would be done and closed, then and only then would they close our permit.
It is our understanding that this took place yesterday and now we are able to start the process of closing our permit out. This has been an ordeal but totally out of our control.
We will update once permit is closed, but rest assure we are and have been working on it

I am rejecting this response because: If you look at the documentation they submitted, the roof was done over 2 1/2 years ago and no permit has ever been filed or recorded. There have been at least 30 calls that can be documented from myself, my realtor and my contractor. They had ample time to pull the permit and never did so. The country was waiting on them to pull the permit, and they were the cause of some of the delay by the county. The response by them is a total fabrication. At the time of the roof 2.5 years ago, no other work had been done on the house. They continue to lie to us, telling us that they would take care of it, yet no action on their part. The company has no response as to why the permit was not pulled at the time of the job in April of 2022.

8/24/24. Roofers put roof tiles over vent to bathroom. Fumes now in house. Called last Friday said they would send someone right out but didn't and still haven't. I called four times last two times went to voice mail. They removed vent now venting into houseBusiness Response

These are very nice people we are dealing with and we had a lot of bad wood replacment. When I say lot of bad wood, it was lot of bad wood and with SUMMER BREEZE ROOFING all the bad wood is all inclusive, we never charge a ***** more for bad wood replacement.
In the course of replacing the bad wood, the vent pipe fell into the attic, we have already went back and met with the plumber and had everything re installed and took care of it, took little longer than expected because we had to cordinate the time with the plumbing company. But it ws done within 5 days, it was our fault and we take full accountability and we fixed at no charge.

Summer good and summer breeze. The problem I had with this company was. The only 2 roofers they sent to work on my roof replacement, couldnt speak or understand English too well. After only a couple of days. It went from the 2 roofers to only one of the guys working by himself on my roof replacement. But I asked the guys to increase the pitch on my flat roof. They told me ok. But that it would cost an extra 500 or so for the extra wood, that they needed to build it up more for the higher pitch. I agreed and told them to do it. However whenever they were done and had just left my house, there was a pretty heavy rain storm. But after it stopped raining. I decided to climb the ladder and check out how the flat roof was draining off with the additional pitch in it. However I was pretty disappointed to see the pooling rain water across my entire flat roof. Apparently after the conversation that we had about adding the extra wood to create the pitch. Plus I had already agreed to paying the extra 500 for the additional wood. The guys told me that that thought I just wanted all the existing wood replaced. They just tore out all the existing wood and replaced it exactly the same height. Without any increase in height or pitch. However now Ive realized that they didnt replace the rotten wood. Ive got rats in my house attic as a result of this company. This has destroyed my AC ductwork. The boss ***** has just given me the runaround telling me that he is sending someone to make the repairs but hasnt bothered to. Instead ** left out of pocket unable to finish my insulation upgrade. I believe this crew of one 2 guys wasnt proper roofers. They also used the wrong wood for my Facia boards. Instead of cedar wood I paid them extra for they used inferior wood. I would like complete refund. They have cost me thousands in damages to my central ac ductworkBusiness Response

I first want to say thank you for reading this and hearing our side of this project.
We pulled a permit and did the job well over a year or two ago. We passed all inspections and the city inspector commented on a great job.
Customer paid us and we didnt hear from this customer till this month. He was complaining about drip edge and fascia.
We inspected the job and the roof is not leaking. Theres no bad fascia and we said we would still replace the area he wants and said we would replace the drip edge in the area he wants.
We go overboard to make our customers happy and we will do the same here.
For whatever reason, one of my *************************** was cussed out by this customer and he refuses to go back.
This customer also has done the same with **** in my office.
I have no problem at all resolving this issue but he will have to deal with me directly and I can schedule one of my other ******* out; but nothing will get resolved if he continues in this manner.
So we shall see what happens. Ive talked to the customer by text and hopefully we will get on same page and once we do, then he can respond by saying ; issue resolved.

I am rejecting this response because: the roof isnt done professionally & properly there is numerous issues with the roof. Theyre aware of all the issues from rip shingles bent drip edge facia boards not cut or installed correctly nail heads coming through new shingles. Ect !! The owner when confronted about the poor workmanship he gets very aggressive towards the homeowner and acts like a fool ,not a professional businessmanvery disappointed in this company and their unprofessional behavior from owner

We have one of the best reputation in the industry. As stated and putting this very respectful, this is not a normal situation with this customer.
This customer was crass despite our effort's.
We can no longer deal directly with this customer.
What we have told this customer is go hire a 3rd party inspector at our costs and have him inspect the roof and if theres things that need to be done. We will handle them asap.
We have talked to the building department and the inspector that did all the inspections and they confirmed our permit was pulled and job was done correctly and passed all inspections and final inspection.
We have been in business since **** and do everything possible to make all customers happy. Its sad when these type situations arisethank you for reading ,

The work they provided is not done professionally or properly the roof has many issues from the poor craftsmanship from the crew they sent out and they never even looked at the roof to see the issues with the work the did even when the owner came out to see the issues he never once got on the roof to look at anything so he has no idea and when the owner came out he was just being very aggressive and acting like its the home owners fault that the roof is not done properly or professionally would like to resolve this issue by having the roof redone properly & professionally like I paid tho have done from the beginning !!

Summer Breeze roofing installed a roof in May of 2023. The roof has leaked in several spots whenever there is a heavy rain. Summer Breeze has patched the roof on three different occasions and in different locations on the roof. The roof was not torched down correctly and the seams are failing causing the roofing material to peal back. The roof now looks like one big patch job and will continue to leak because the seams were not torched correctly.Business Response

THIS IS SUCH A BETTER SYSTEM, THE PEOPLE WE ORIGANL SOLD THE *** TO, HIRED US AND WE EXPLAINED THE *** WITH ISO WOULD BE THE BEST SYSTEM BUT THEY CHOSE TO GO THE CHEAPER ROUT, THEY WERE SELLING THE PROPERTY AND JUST WANTED LOW COST ROOF.

Did our roof in January and still leaks.. They have been here 4 times now and still leaks.. Have called them on Monday the 12th of September no call back.. Called again on Wednesday the 14th no call back.. Called again on Thursday the 15th talked to a women said she did not know nothing about this that she was new there.. Said owner was in and she will talk to him and get back to me.. Never did.. Called on Saturday the 17th no call back.. Called again on Monday the 18th talked to a man he was not very pleasant.. Also hung up on me when I asked if they were going to send someone that will fix it... I am one of 3 ****** in a 3 unit Condo building. I am filing on behalf of all 3 ******. All details occurred in 2022. Feb 21st condo ****** met with Summer Breeze Roofing (SBR) sales **** ******* Owners detailed out the issues with the mansard roof & the downspouts/scuppers. SBR provided quote on Feb 23rd. The quote met our requirements (replace ********************** Owners signed contract with SBR on Mar 2nd. Jun 21, the owner of SBR (*****) met with ****** indicating ****** had underbid the project and SBR needed an additional $12k. With further discussions, the ****** agreed to change he roofing product from a metal product to shingles to be able to hold the original contracted price. Jun 29th, metal product was delivered, ***** decided to keep the original product & hold the original contracted price. Jul 20 first day crew arrived on site. Aug 2nd crew started to remove/replace 2 of 7 scuppers that is in scope. Scupper install was not correct/not completed; rained; interior damage occurred. Aug 3 ****** (sales guy) came to the building and indicated SBR needs to charge for "structural damage". Aug 8 informed project is STOPPED until agreement is met for "structural damage". Quote provided for an additional $12k. Aug 15 ****** met w *****. All agreed switch to shingles to hold price and ***** agreed for SBR to cover cost for improper install of scuppers, damage to flat roof membrane, interior damage from water intrusion. Bldg ****** to get a quote from roofing contractor that installed the flat roof and ****** of Condo agreed to take on the cost of the downspouts (scuppers remain in scope w SBR). Aug 18 Crew back on site, SBR decided to using metal product; not shingles. Aug 23 first tile installed. Sep 1 CREW WALKED OFF SITE after the bldg ****** questioned safety of scaffolding and drilling into side of building to secure the scaffolding. ***** is rejecting to cover cost of damage his crew caused. Project is about 60% complete.Business Response

I want to first start out by saying, we here at Summer Breeze Roofing are in total disbelief that this 3 unit HOA would take this step
and write a complaint with the BBB against our company. They have not paid us any money towards anything that has been done to date and that is a major statement.
The reason we are in shock is we were out at the job site last Thursday when we had a situation. That situation should have never
ever happened, ***** came out and was very abrupt with my ******* for drilling by code safety screws to lock in our scaffolding. She was startled and
was explained that the scaffolding must be secured to the wall for safety reasons. My ******* was so upset with the way he was treated by ***********************
that he said he could not work under these conditions.
Now we felt horrible for our ******* and Summer Breeze Roofing agreed with the ******* and he was informed to clean up immediately and by Friday morning
we had the scaffolding, dump trailer and all materials off the jobsite.
Now we went out on 9-1 as the crew was cleaning up and we met with *************************** and *********************** and this is why we were so confused by them writing
a complaint with the BBB.
We left it on 9-1 that we pulled off the job and that crew was not coming back and *************************** has a very close friend that did the coating to top of the roof.
We told them to hire them to come finish and we would pay. But the price had to be legit, not a price taking advantage of people.
To continue, at the meeting of 9-1, they were informed that we could have our people come in and take care of the inside work quickly and I can have a crew
to fix the 3 scuppers we touched. But, *************************** for whatever reason wanted his friend doing inside work and the roof scuppers we touched. The original price his friend
tried to charge was $7800 for the three scuppers and fixing roof, he priced close to $3,900 for the inside leak repair and tried charging $3500 for the other 4 scuppers and roof
work. All those prices are not inline with industry pricing.
Furthermore, our work order was for the mansard roof and 7 down spouts, we are not contracted in any way to install new scuppers. The downspouts are
connected to rusted totally messed up scuppers. We had zero knowledge of that till we started pulling off the tile to the mansard, once we pulled the tile off the mansard and pulled the 2 downspouts out it exposed the state of the scuppers. There was no way to install new downspouts without replacing the scuppers! Now we also found all the wood
had termite damage to it. Please keep in mind, the company that did the coating and some underlayment per *****, we never saw a permit pulled for that and that is a
major problem if we are correct in our findings. They should have seen the scuppers how bad they were and took care of them.
So our stance now is, they need to retract this complaint with the BBB or we will just file a lien against the property. We have been very nice and very vocal on how we can take care of these issues, this is roofing and we are experts at it. Plus, the inside work is easy as well and we have the general contractors license as well. So all of this is
things we can take care of and have done. *********************** would have to stop causing more problems, the verbal abuse my ******* took last Thursday was not acceptable
and we took his side and that's why we pulled off the job. If she would have just obviously noticed that we were securing the scaffolding to the wall and let them work, I would not be writing this email. We would be finishing up easily this week.
Then for her to write a complaint with the BBB, we are just shocked. We do not cut corners, we do everything by the book. We pulled a permit for this job,
We are licensed by the state of ******* as a State Certified Roofing Contractor and as a State Certified General Contractor. We know what we are doing and we will not be doing work that we are not contracted to do unless we are paid.
Our resolution to this complete matter is that ***** and ***** come into our office and they sign a new contract for the roof, scupper, downspouts for $35,000.00 and we would want 50% down because we have over 50% done and very important to point out, we have not been paid a ***** to date on this project. Then the other 50%
will be set in escrow at my title company that I own with my Lawyer called ********* Agency.
We have already shown good faith and now we expect the same in return; if ***** and ***** come in and sign a new work order for the extra work we will schedule
and finish the project.
To conclude, the extra work would be installing 7 scuppers and doing the roofing work around each of them and then coating (when we touched the scuppers we did not realize they were totally shot and that caused the leak, it does not matter who touched the scuppers, they would have fell apart and leaked). We will take care of inside work.
Let me know if this is agreeable and we will set a time for you to come into our office and have all the paperwork made up and once signed and draw
given and money in escrow. We will be back to work and we will do all the work.

If this was such an urgent situation and they have leaks, why would they not want this done right away?
The fact is, the roof is not leaking.
Now keep in mind this roof has 2 types of a roofing system, mansard and flat. We did not do the flat another company did. We were contracted to do *********** and down spouts. We had a leak when we pulled couple down spouts out and the scuppers from the flat roof were totally rotted. It poured down rain and after the rain we went up and patched the scuppers (2 of them).
If the other roofing company that did the flat, if they would have pulled a permit we would never ever had the issues. The other company came in and put down an underlayment and coated the flat roof. By law you need to record notice of commencement and pull a permit. They did not do that!
This caused an issue and the three unit triplex is upset and we are 100% willing to come in and fix the inside. Plus we are willing to 100% finish the job, but we need new work order signed adding the scuppers to the work order at an additional $12,000.00 and they need to come into my office in our conference room and sign and in good faith pay 1/2 of the work because well over 1/2 is completed and we will come and finish.
We cannot let any work be done under our permit and not employed by Summer Breeze Roofing. Our insurance will not allow this.
It is criminal to do the type of work the other roofing company did and not pull a permit. But I ma not going to harp on that, We just want to get back to the job and complete.
If not we will just lien the property and we are fine with that as well. But it's best for all involved for us to come out and complete. We are of the largest roofing contractors in the bay area and this is not a major thing for us to complete.
Please let us know and If you need more time we will wait because this is not an emergency because theres no leaks. It is jut frustrating because we have not taking any money down at all and we are 70% completed and now waiting.
