COMPLAINT Description and Chronological events:Vehicle: 2010 JAGUAR XF BLACK Location: ***************, ** ***** Summary of events:July 24, 2023 - Called *** to provide battery boost for my vehicle 2010 Jaguar XF, parked on the lot outside my residence. *** dispatched their *************** affiliate Petes Auto to boost the battery in my car.- ************* from Petes showed up and boosted the *** premium battery installed by them, but after running it around 15 minutes he took the booster cables out and shut the car. He started it again but car would not start. He discovered that battery is not holding charge, but boosted it again and went away, saying he would not have to change the *** battery although it was still under warranty. On my way, I drove the car to ********** for oil change, but car would not start while it was on the bay. I called ************* again and he showed up within an hour to boost it again, but although he realized it is not holding back the charge he let me drive away. - I had some doubts, so I took my car to the nearby Jaguar dealer to get an opinion. ***************** dealership representative ************************* looked at the battery and right away mentioned to me that the battery is not equivalent or compatible, so they took the car in to inspect and diagnose the problem ($199 plus tax).- I had to rent a car from Datura Rentals on ***** Hwy near Jaguar dealership on July 24 as I was stuck with no option until the battery issue is resolved.July 25, 2023 - The next day evening on July 25th, Jaguar dealer representative ************************* responded to me saying the battery is faulty and not holding the charge, while their test does not show any draw in the system after diagnosis and inspection. Jaguar dealer gave me two options: a) put a new Jaguar battery; or b) ask *** to replace with a compatible battery since it is still under warranty.July 26, 2023 - I called *** on July 26 morning and the same technician ************* from Petes came by the Jaguar dealership lot and he also confirmed that the battery is not holding charge. He called his boss at Petes but no new battery was available in their inventory on that day and he went out to pick one at a nearby location, but only to say that was not a match. ************* mentioned that the new one will be available the next day July ***************************** my rental car and left my Jaguar at the dealership and they stored my car until ***/Petes takes care of the issue.July 27, 2023 - I called *** back on July 27 around noon and Petes sent their technician ***************************** to replace the battery. However, once ******* called his boss at Petes, the story changed. I was told that there was one warranty battery replacement was done previously, so the warranty is no longer applicable and I have to pay for the new battery and the installation charges costing $400 or more. I was absolutely puzzled on the tone and demeanour of the person on the other side that amounted to a fraudulent and dishonest way to rip-off a customer and *** warrantied product. At that time I decided to go for a Jaguar original battery instead of trusting the *** product and Petes games.July 28, 2023 - On July 28 Jaguar replaced the battery. *** the mechanic at Jaguar service department mentioned that he came across this few times wherein *** batteries caused similar problems and clients ended up installing new Jaguar battery.- On July 28 I returned my rental car (after renting it on July 24) and picked up my Jaguar with a new battery. Compensation Claim:My claim at this time is against ***/Petes are for reimbursement of costs to replace the faulty *** premium battery ($521) and rental car ($201.16) charges. The bills and payment receipts are attached for reimbursement. If this can be resolved amicably, then I will close the matter to avoid legal action and additional costs.

This *** Member originally purchased a battery from *** on 3/29/2022. It was then warrantied on 7/1/2022, At the time the member drove the vehicle less then 400 miles. We explained the vehicle has to be driven more often, as all the *** battery receipts states the a battery that is merely discharged due to improper charging is not warrantable. But we warrantied it anyway. On 10/3/2022, This member called again requesting a warranty, this time the vehicle was driven less then 200 miles. We explained to the member that they have to drive it more often and cannot let the car sit for long periods of time otherwise they will void the warranty. But we warrantied it AGAIN anyway. Then on April 11, 2023 this member called again, on this date the odometer read ******, we warrantied this battery AGAIN, same story (3 times within 1 yr). On 7/24/2023 the member placed another service call with ***, the odometer read ******. The battery had 0volts and was completely discharged. This time we did not warranty it, we advised the member to get the battery professionally charged. He then took it to ********** to get an oil change because its been sitting for a while, the 900cca battery was not charged and therefore the car would not start. He called us directly (*****) and we made a trip there to assist him free of charge without a service call work order from ***. On 7/26/2023, He called again, ***** told him that we could not warranty it even if we wanted to because we did not have the battery in stock. On 7/27/2023, He called again, we did not warranty it a 4th time due to the vehicle not being driven and the battery being discharged which voids the warranty. Attached is the warranty policy the member received every time we warrantied his battery. *** policy is that battery has to be maintained for the warranty to be valid. His complaint should be directed to *** warranty policy and not us  Please read the warranty exclusions section.

Purchased new battery from Petes in September 2022 with a 3 year warranty. Battery died July 8th, 2023. Technician, claimed the problem was my car, and there was nothing wrong with the battery. I took the car to ******* and they confirmed the battery was dead. Petes does not honor their warranty.

On 6/13/2023 called AAA and informed them I needed a jump. Technician by the name of ****** was very polite upon arrival. First thing he said, "We sell batteries", I replied, you must have intentions of letting me have it on credit, his response, we take credit cards. He put the Jumpbox on my battery for approximately 3 minutes to inform me it only had 56%, of course it only had 56% due to the fact I left my lights on. The battery was no dead, it turned over, it just wouldn't start. After me telling him I was not going to purchase a battery he immediately disconnected the Jumpbox from the battery and left. I guess since I'm a woman, he thought I was ***************** LUMP! After he left someone came over and my vehicle started without a NEW battery, and guess what they used a Jumpbox!

Pete's Mobile Service runs a full system test on all batteries before offering a replacement if a replacement is needed. Just because you leave your headlights on does not mean the battery is good after a jump start. If the battery is older and a serious drain is left on the battery for a long period of time, like headlights, the biggest drain you can leave on battery it can finish the battery off. The customer stated another jump start was needed later that tells me that the battery is now weak, therefore the tech did his job in recommending the battery be replaced. His test results also show the battery as testing bad. Average battery life is two to three years in ******* where this service call took place. ****'s Mobile is also survey based and does everything possible to ensure our customers are totally satisfied with our service, otherwise we could no longer provide service in the area.

I am rejecting this response because:  The person responding to my complaint was not present during the time of this incident.  You are writing a response according to your companys policy. You dont know what occurred first you wasnt there and your technician tell you what you want to hear, if you even asked him, and if he was truthful!   An apology would  been acceptable.  Very Poor customer **********************.
