1 starStarted this process in Dec 2024, was told this company could resolve my tax issues. Ive paid them over $8000.00 and now they want my bank account info so they can negotiate with the *** to setup a payment plan. They havent told me what amount I was dealing with and I cant afford to just give my bank info and hope for the best. And still havent been given my state filing and what I owe them. Im so disappointed with this company and what I have paid them for nothing.Community Tax

1 starI found myself owing money to the IRS and found Community Tax. Based on other reviews, I thought I'd be taken care of. Instead I was talked to rudely from the beginning. I took it to be a language barrier issue - and continued with the process. I never received updates unless I called to get a status or sent a request via the app. When the resolution finally came back (2 months after the process started), they told me my balance due was nearly $9000 more than I owed. When I questioned the amount, I was told it was the penalties and interest owed despite it NOT being past 4/15; when taxes are due. I was informed the IRS starts to accrue penalties and interest from the date I file, regardless of it being past 4/15. I got off the phone and started researching that statement- and found it to be complete lies. The IRS starts assessing penalties and interest AFTER 4/15; not before. I had also been informed that I was not eligible or that an extension would not be granted based in my situation. I contacted the IRS (sitting on hold for nearly 2 hours) and was able to, (by MYSELF), set up an extension with full payment for 60 days and get placed into a first time abatement program for penalties. Oh - and my balance is NOT $9000 more than I owe. Community Tax staff that I worked with were awful - they do not know what they are talking about. They should NOT be trusted with any tax matters.Community Tax

This is a follow up review to my initial review left on 4/15/2025 - After my review, I was contacted by Community Tax. They wanted to make the situation right; and I believe they were very responsive. The manager I spoke with listened to my issue and problems with their staff and situation. He went back and listened to the phone calls and came back to me with a refund option. I was very appreciative of that. I feel the refund amount is fair. He said they would also be addressing the situation internally. Overall, I will say my experience was improved with their organization."Review fromMaple G

1 starI paid Community Tax $5000 back in 2018. They assured me they could get the interest stopped and penalties reduced. Hooked me. Once I paid, My first contact with the person handling my account was a guy who said immediately, and grumpy, "I wish they would stop telling people they can get interest stopped and penalties reduced." I NEVER said a word about that...HE came out the gate saying that. Once I got the balance owed, it was less than I expected. So I thought maybe he was wrong. They worked out I would pay $510 a month. So I did. And 7 yrs later? I've paid over $38k and owe $17000! Record your calls with these people. Make them state they can lower or get rid of those things on record and ask for it in writing. I'm a single woman with no degree. I worked hard to make enough to begin paying the *** and my bills to live. Never had a new car, cut my own hair, shop at ******** and *******. I live very humbly. Then I was phased out of my job of 14 years due to a buyout. Now making $35k less a year and barely surviving. This news I owe more now than I did in the beginning has me wondering why I should even stay. They are NOT an honest company.Community Tax
