Through Brightway insurance brokerage I have been with Olympus Home Insurance for over 10 years with no compensated claims, no fake roof claims, no missing payments etc.. My renewal for this year was north of 17k. I called Brightway in what I think was Feb of this year to make sure it wasn't a mistake, it was not, that was my new premium. So I told them I would be cancelling once I found another more affordable policy. I did find a new policy and called Brightway back to tell them my insurance would be cancelled on 4/7/2023 and asked what I needed to do. I was told by a rep at brightway there was nothing they would do, that my mortgage company handled the switch in the escrow account. When my mortgage payment didn't reflect the new premium I called Rocket Mortgage and asked what the hold up was, THEY notified me that I should have received a check from the insurance company to then forward to them. I called Brightway back (a few months had passed at this point) and complained that I was misled by them, but still needed to process my cancellation and refund. They processed the refund from that date, but not the date I called, or the date I called back and told them my new coverage started on the 7th of April. I have contacted both Brightway and Olympus numerous times and they tell me they have no record of those calls and essentially that I am a liar and that money is gone. We are talking about roughly 5-6k they are keeping in premiums for a property I told them I didn't want insured anymore and had covered from another company. Olympus sends me to Brightway now, who then blames Olympus who won't do anything. Nobody from Olympus will contact me directly, they just have Brightway call back who has been no help. I should have been notified that I should expect a refund check from Brightway when I first called and when I called back to cancel. They have lied and stolen from me and tell me since I don't have an exact record of the call, they won't help.
