My father died on March 11, 2022. I became his executor and personal representative for his estate. I called and let Florida Blue know of his passing on April 8th. At the time of my call, they told me they would stop taking health insurance premiums out of his account and refund part of March's and all of April's premium. The total was $511.72. It has now been approximately 9 months, many phone calls, many emails, many legal documents provided, and still no refund of my father's money. Every time I call, they tell me that the refund is in process...? I just got off a telephone call and they said they have everything they need and we would see a check in 7 -10 days. I have heard this story many times over the last 9 months. I could use some help please...

My son and I had Florida Blue through the Health place Marketplace. Toward the end of September 2020, we received a notice from Florida Blue explaining that our insurance was being canceled for nonpayment. Our monthly copayment was only $2 a month, this was an oversight on our part. The letter which was dated September 2020, mentioned our insurance was being canceled and backdated effective August 24th, 2020. We had blood work drawn at Quest Diagnostics on 8/24/2020 or 8/25/2020. I failed to place a complaint with BBB prior to this because I called on 2 different occasions and spoke with supervisors at Florida Blue in an attempt to settle the matter. I have yet to hear back from the company, and we now have been sent to collections as a result.Business Response

I received a check from BCBS of Florida and I have no idea what it is for. After multiple attempts to contact them, I have been unable to reach a person for help. On 12/27/2022 I reached out to provider contracting to see if they could help me access a person at claims, and after expressing my frustration, ******* hung up on me. I never received a call back (I was asked to give a call back number at the beginning of the phone call), so I know it wasn't accidentally disconnected. Honestly, I'm disgusted with the whole situation and the lack of availability to speak with a person, but being hung up on was the icing on the cake. The best solution for me is to figure out what this check is for, and an apology for someone hanging up on me. I expect better from Blue Cross. I would like a phone number to call to speak with a person left on my voicemail if I am not able to answer.Business Response

I have a Florida Blue Medicare plan member number ********** *nd the vision portion is administered by VSP/IMED. I last spoke with a manag er Peter. he tells me Florida Blue is supposed to provide me with an outline of the coverage at the beginning of the year, which they did not. Additionally, they are to provide me with the vision EOBs. That makes no sense when they are paying them. Florida Blue is not monitoring VSP because the claims turn around is in excess of six weeks and they wont give me an answer how long it takes. They say they have only received one claim when there were two in the same envelope. I have mailed 3 others the postal service does not lose that much mail. I am trying to find out where I can submit the claims by certified mail and they will be processed correctly and timely. I think Florida Blue should be insisting that VSP move the account to an office better equipped to handle the account.Business Response

My daughter had a procedure done at ******** Children's Hospital on January 14th 2022. We submitted a claim and received a letter back from Florida Blue asking for more information about the claim.
I tried calling but the customer service providers could not locate the claim and therefore not tell me what was missing. The frustrating part is that I know that Florida Blue had to have received the claim as I would have not received communication back if they had not. So I am asking for somebody from Florida Blue to contact me who could actually help with the problem that I am encountering and not tell me to reach out to the provider to get the same information that I had already sent to Firodia Blue.Business Response

I just learned BBB could help with my case and make a better business environment in our country. That's why I did not reach out to you in 2020.
I had my baby in Mar 2020 in Baptist Health Baptist Hospital in Miami FL. The next day I called my insurance Florida Blue, if my plan covers the circumcision. I was told as long as it was done within 30 days after birth in hospital then it is free for me. I even called twice to confirm it. My kid had circumcision within 3 days after his birth in the same hospital before we got discharged there. Around a few months later, I received an invoice from the hospital, where I learned I need to pay for this circumcision and a routine daily care. I called Florida Blue immediately. I told the representative what happened and we even had a conference call with the Miami Baptist Health Baptist Hospital. They confirmed my baby had circumcision and routine daily cares. The reason that Florida Blue rejected this bill is because Florida Blue received a universal bill, and this universal bill showed my kid had 1) a small surgery instead of circumcision, and 2) non-routine daily care. The coding and description is different from the itemized bill I received. At that time Florida blue agent told me they could reprocess the payment and pay this bill. But after a month, they rejected it again. I contacted Florida Blue again and was told hospital did not send the corrected bill to them. So the Florida Blue agent would reprocess it again. However, again Florida Blue rejected again for the same reason and started to play ping pang with me. It took a few months and I got tired and I paid this bill. But it is wrong. Florida Blue need to pay that bill. I need this refund from Florida Blue.

I am rejecting this response because: I paid services: circumcision and infant care routine as shown in the itemized bill. However, according to the benefits, circumcision and infant care routine are free for me. I don’t understand why Florida Blue refused to reimburse me. Florida blue used their benefits to attract me to buy their insurance, but they don’t allow me to use the plan I have bought. What’s the point of buying your insurance?
Regards,

I spoke with BCBS Florida to make sure I was in network and was told I was only to be going back and forth with them currently. At Dr appointments they make sure ik coverage under my insurance for procedures then I'm billed later the full amount. I've contacted the insurance company multiple times and have reference number for each call.Business Response

I had Cataract surgery in August 2021. My policy (PPO Florida Blue.
Group number ******. Member************** provides a free pair of prescription glasses. I waited 8 months to purchase the glasses to make sure that the surgery was fine and no further treatments were required. Purchased the glasses and I turned in my claim only to to be denied. I then went to the local office a representative said that they probably didn't see that I had surgery due to the delay time between procedure and purchase. Four weeks later It was denied. again I went to the local office which filed it again. It too was denied. I called customer service (twice) getting a "supervisor" on the second call. He apologized and said he didn't understand why it was denied but that he would personally look into it and get back to me. He never did. I then went to HR and they contacted the representative for our PPO and he said to file again which HR did on my behalf. Again denied. Enough is enough I want glasses money for the glasses. Now. It's the only resolution besides small claims court which will come next if this isn't resolved. Thank you for any assistance in this problem.Business Response

Consumer alert. Florida blue doesn’t really care about every individual. I am a provider in the medical field.I have been suffering for over 30 years with debilitating back pain. Due to the progressive pain and refusal by insurance to help, despite everything , I have been unable to see my own patients or work for over a year. I have jumped through every hoop that this company has put m through to try to get a simple noninvasive procedure done on my back called Intracept that could restore my quality of life. For two straight years they have denied me as i have gotten worse by the day. I have done every medication out there, seen physical therapists, alternative med options, chiropractics, acupuncture and massage and I only get worse. Not to mention the enormous amount of medical bills i have had to pay for copay’s, deductibles and non covered services to try to get any relief I have 5 children and can no longer do the fatherly things I loved to do with them. It’s a shame to see insurance agencies coming between drs and their patients. I have 4 discs issue and heart problems which both put me out of commission for a major surgery which would also cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, where this procedure would be literally a fraction of the cost and outpatient with minimal to no risk! How on earth does this sound like a company that cares about us as individuals or quality of life. It’s even sadder to think that they would rather pay out exorbitant funds for a surgery that could cost my life and raise all of our premiums even more than the 24 percent we are getting in 2023, then to just do the right thing. This procedure is a last resort for me. I have paid premiums religiously for over 20 years and when I need to utilize the Insurane they would rather try to act like they know better than my doctors and jeopardize my life. They have already taken away my quality of life and my ability to work and provide for my family. Someone pls helpBusiness Response
