Complete incompetence doesnt sum up the total lack and disregard they have for their clients. Poor workmanship, poor project management and nothing but excuses about why their project is a disaster. They tell you its a trade issue but that is what they are paid to manage. The owner doesnt even come by to check his companies own projects when clients (plural) are complaining. Avoid Encore at all cost and dont buy at ********** in *************. Their contractor license should be revoked. ****** (owner) does not care about his projects or his clients.

Encore Homes of North Florida Response

We work very hard at Encore Homes to build quality and create good experiences for ours customers. It is something we try very hard to achieve. Given the current market conditions with the lack of availability of quality labor and the current supply chain issues, we are doing our best to deliver quality homes to all of our customers. We have been communicating regularly with this customer and continue to work on any issue that they have outstanding as we do for all of our customers in need of service work. We will continue to do so until we have completed our obligation and done our best to satisfy our customer.

    Customer Response

The statement made by the builder confirms they accept no responsibility and are just pointing fingers at the trades throwing them under the bus. The entire purpose (what they are being paid for) of Encore is to MANAGE THE TRADES and the project; which they have completely failed each resident and the project as a whole. I have spoken to numerous other residents who have similar complaints, so it isn't just me being an isolated case. When I ask other residents if it is just me and my experience, they literally laugh while rolling their eyes, it's that bad. If I was Encore or ********, I would be beyond embarrassed and doing everything and anything I can to make it right. Even ******** has had issue with Encore and their level of management (yes, I have an email stating as such from *************************). If the trades are the issue, then Encore should be taking a more active role in their management. Supply chain issues has zero relevancy and is more confirmation of their incompetence because it gave them more time to manage their project because of delays. Meaning, it took Encore >1 year to build this townhouse (typical build time is 9 months), so instead of taking advantage of the extra time to make certain things were right; they left the trades and the project unmanaged. I have no issue with the materials or the delays, I take offense to the fact ****** (the owner) couldn't take 5 minutes to meet with complaining residents to at least hear out their concerns and see for himself the issues at hand. This confirms his complete indifference to the project, his company and reputation. I complained to Encore and ******** numerous times and my voice has fallen on deaf ears. Not once did I even get an email or phone call from the Encore owner asking to meet with me, acknowledge my concerns or come by any of the residences to see first-hand the issues of concern. This simple act of meeting with residents, an email or phone call would have garnered a lot of goodwill and showed he actually cared about a project his company was involved. As an owner, he should be making our problems his problems and take ownership. If Encore knows the trades are an issue, Encore should be more involved with trades management. I was in this business for many years, and I have never seen such incompetence in all phases of a project as this one. I take personal issue and offense with ******, Encore and ******** who have completely failed the project and the owners paying them to do a proper job. We did a pre-walk on 9/12 and there was still trash in the bathtub and the home was in complete disarray. We received a call the night before closing on 9/16 and was told nothing had been done in the 4 days since our pre-walk. All of the blue-painters tape highlighting issues, nothing had been addressed. The only item that was touched was the tile floor in the bathrooms and they actually made the issue worse. They didn't even sweep the home out and take out the trash before we closed on 9/16. We informed them during the pre-walk we had painters, carpet and movers coming the following week and as long as they made progress, we would be flexible; our flexibility was severely taken advantage of. We found trades working on our neighbors' homes who had not closed (we had) and were not moving to the area for another month; yet here we are, keys in hand and can't even open the front door because the deadbolt was so tight against the jam, you couldn't unlock the door from the outside. Normally, the builder will send in a cleaning crew to clean the home. I had to ask for this to be done and this happened over a week after we closed. Let me be clear, I had to ask for the **** to clean up their mess throughout the home AFTER we closed on the property. How is this a trade and supply issue? Our neighbor still had construction materials in the garage a month after closing which I had to remind the ******* several times to remove. We also had a roof leak that has yet to be addressed (yes, the ******* is aware) and the leaking water destroyed a brand-new 32" computer monitor and flooded my desk with water. Florida, mold? That has yet to be determined.
