• Advertising Review:

  In April 2024, BBB contacted Gutters and Covers regarding claims in its advertising.
  
  Its advertisement in the April 2024 and Spring 2024 editions of The Home Mag (Jacksonville-North) states "Best Prices,..."  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, despite an advertiser's best efforts to ascertain competitive prices, the rapidity with which prices fluctuate and the difficulty of determining prices of all sellers at all times preclude an absolute knowledge of the truth of unqualified underselling/lowest price claims. Advertisers must have proper substantiation for all claims prior to dissemination.  The business did not respond to BBB's request that it provide proof of its 'best prices' claim or consider modifying the statement.
  
  Its advertisement in The Home Mag also states "... Best Warranty Around."  Its website and other online advertising states "Gutters & Covers Llc. is a fully insured and licensed family owned business with the highest standards of quality, we warrant all of the materials and the have the highest warranty on Craftsmanship in Jacksonville and surrounding areas."  Advertisers must not deceptively or falsely disparage a competitor or competing products or services in their advertising. Truthful comparisons using factual information may help consumers make informed buying decisions, provided the advertiser can substantiate all claims made.  The business did not respond to BBB's request that it provide substantiation for these 'best' and 'highest' warranty claims.
  
  Its website and online advertising make references to its warranties, including:
  "With our long-lasting warranties, you can rest assured in our work from start to finish."
  "Contact Gutters & Covers LLC to learn about our 10-year labor warranties on residential work!"
  "Our high-performance brand offers a 20-year manufacturer warranty and a 15-year labor warranty."
  "All Gutter Toppers come with transferrable lifetime warranties."
  "Gutters & Covers Llc. is a fully insured and licensed family owned business with the highest standards of quality, we warrant all of the materials and the have the highest warranty 15 years on Craftsmanship in Jacksonville and surrounding areas."
  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, when using the term warranty in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on the advertiser’s website, or include a basic disclaimer such as 'call for details.'  Because its advertising includes different warranty term lengths and a lifetime warranty, BBB requested that the business either include the terms of the advertised warranties, or a disclaimer so consumers understand that there may be terms and conditions. In addition, when advertising lifetime warranties, it is essential to explain the intended meaning of the term lifetime; for instance, if lifetime refers to the owners or to the property. The business did not respond to BBB or adjust its claims.
