We have been with BFS for several years. However this year has been a disaster. First we had a issue with our ** mini split air conditioner. After several weeks we were finally told that the circuit board was no longer made. It was then told to me the remedy was to get a new mini split. I did not accept that solution so I called the company that installed the unit originally about 5 years previously. They came out and confirmed that it was indeed the circuit board and were able to get one and installed it within a couple days. It works perfectly. My cost to have someone install was $1240. This weekend our air conditioning unit stopped working. So I again called BFS, we have their gold plan, repairman came out and said we needed a new compressor. Since we had their best plan we anticipated it was under warranty by them. Wrong. Under their fine print there is a clause that says electric or variable speed motors and dual/scroll/variable speed compressors are not covered. How is a customer going to know that they have a variable speed motor in their air conditioning system? Furthermore, since the compressor is an integral part of an air conditioning system one would anticipate that it would be covered. They tell us that they can install a new compressor for over $1400.this does not seem like very good coverage that cost $881 per year. I called their corporate office and was told that there was no one available with which to register my dissatisfaction and that someone would call me back from the corporate office. It has been several hours and I have not heard from anyone from that office. While, as I said, we have used them for a few years and all rather problems have not been to this extent. Our contract expires in September and I doubt very much that we will renew.
