    Fence With Style

The customer signed an agreement with us approximately one year ago to install a wood composite fence with a sliding gate around their property. The material they chose was custom-made overseas in a specific color, which was indicated on the signed estimate. However, upon arrival of the material, the customer decided they no longer wanted the color and threatened legal action. To avoid a lawsuit, we agreed to provide the customer with different material in their desired color from a local supplier, absorbing the $6,000 loss ourselves.

The customer wanted us to begin work before their permit was approved. We explained that the city might halt work, but they proceeded anyway. The city did stop work two days after we started, and because the old fence had been removed, we were required to cover the pool with plywood, which we did at no charge to the customer.<br **********************="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" />

As we began installing the fence in the backyard, the customer made additional requests that were not part of the original contract. For example, they wanted us to cover the gap between the fence and the ground to accommodate their artificial grass, which we did.

The city also had additional requirements for permit approval, including a 26-foot wide sliding gate. This meant we could not use the original custom-ordered gate. We explained to the customer that we would need to order a new gate from a local manufacturer, and it would not look exactly the same, to which they agreed.

Upon installation, the customer complained that the new gate was not the exact same color as the original fence. We explained that it was impossible to match the color exactly, but we had done our best. At the customer's request, we paid $1,500 to have the gate repainted and an additional $2,400 for electric power coating.

The customer also insisted that we redo several panels to eliminate the gap between the ground and the panel. We explained the need for drainage but complied with their request, incurring additional costs.

We have made every effort to satisfy this customer, but it seems impossible. The customer has an outstanding balance of $7,900. We have even offered to forfeit the balance and walk away from the job, but they refused. We also offered additional compensation out of pocket, which they also refused. Instead, they posted a false negative review on ****, claiming that our company does not exist.
