My belongings were basically held hostage after not being given an accurate price until the truck was loaded. Promises were made for next day delivery and then I was told this would not be the case, again after the truck was loaded. They then told me next day delivery was possible for an extra $3500. I ended up paying almost double my initial quote all told. This company does not communicate between its sales team, dispatch, or actual contracted movers, who were, no joke, hired off *********** They lack any semblance of honesty, logistical capability, or general competence. They are either terrible at what they do or are flat out crooks. I made the mistake of trusting them with my move and I warn anyone else to stay far away from these people.

I apologize for not responding to your complaint sooner. Unfortunately, it took my customer service staff a few days to gather all the information needed to understand what transpired. This is their findings:I went over ***************************' paperwork, and they loaded more items than what was estimated and charged him $3500 for a straight delivery, but they also shorted themselves $1000 on the paperwork, so he should have paid $1000 more. I also reviewed the calls between the customer and ********, and nothing was said about the delivery being the same day or the next day. The only thing that was said on the first call was that they would be able to get it loaded the same day. She did say 99% it was going to be picked up on 7/27, and it would all be done the same day. The customer chose the p/u dates of 7/27-7/28 during the booking call, but nothing was said on that call at all about delivery. If you would like any copies of the recorded phone calls or paperwork showing the additional inventory loaded by the carrier, please let me know, and I will forward them to you.

VanLines gave us the best rate, were on time, finished efficiently and took great care of our furniture and special attention to not damage the walls while moving. The movers were personable and communicated great! Highly recommended.

Vanlines, **** Warm voice on the phone, panic voice when talking about what you have to be moved, utter panic when calculating what it will cost. Triple panic when sitting up the move with the dispatcher, whe also charges you via credit card. The contracted movers talk nice to you, the head mover tells you mid move, that they will not move a piece until you pay in cash the amount that they say, on the spot that you owe them. Meanwhile you are in shock, I actually cried when the "bossman" told me what he expected me to pay in cash, on such a short notice, and on a Saturday. "Extortion", that is how what he did, and how he did it, felt to me. Here I was, totally unprepared, no cash on hand, and a credit card. I had tip money for the movers, not $4,240, in cash which was only half of what he said that I had to pay. That is what was demanded of me, by a smiling face. Who does that to a client? What planet did they come from? It took me years to amass the amount of credit that could handle this move, I was confident, until he verbally reached into my pocket, never in my wildest dreams was this scenario. I cried, really cried like a baby. There's more, but shock, me in shock, is what I still am in. It took them longer to deliver, I think that I got everything, but the trauma of being held over a roasting fire, or that rock and a hard place, comes to mind, when I think of Vanlines, ****

******************, thank you for bringing this to our attention. My customer service department has contacted you regarding all these issues. From what they tell me, your pickup went well, and you don't have any problems with being charged for the additional cubic feet loaded at pickup. The issue was the form of payment when your inventory was being delivered. Before your pickup, ***** from our dispatch department emailed you regarding the carrier's arrival time - what you would need to pay him at pickup and what you would still owe at delivery, along with the approved payment method. The payment methods outlined in the email specified cash, personal check, US Postal money order, Zelle, or Venmo. You did not have to pay cash. I understand hindsight is 20/20, but one phone call to our office would have cleared any misunderstanding. We're sorry you struggled with the delivery form of payment; you were informed by email when you agreed to the pickup date and time. If there are any other issues, we are here to help you.

The red flag started, when payment in cash was demanded, I was in shock when I spoke to *****, I told him that the movers were nice to me, however the tears started to fall when in mid move the demand for payment before another piece of my property was put onto the truck. To you it may seem ok to do that, but to me it came out of left field. I have very good credit and that credit was used by ********, and *****. That was the only type of credit that I have access to. Which as I said was good enough for them, but changed midstream for the movers, who demanded cash or money order of a sum that I had no prior knowledge of or its sum. They came on a Saturday when my regular bank was closed. I had to scramble around and because I'm not a dead beat, I was able to secure an expensive cash advance from the very credit card that those clowns refused to use. No I was not satisfied in the beginning, I was in shock. I told ***** that I was crying on my way to the bank, did he not understand the words crying, I cried like a baby, when the mover told me that he would not accept a credit card, I was smiling and confident until that moment. I fell to pieces, as my mind whirled to and fro, trying to think of where I was going to come up with $4,240.00 in cash. Even if my financial institution was open they would only have given me, $2,000 in cash per day plus a cashiers check which they would not have accepted.

It is now about 3 months that I'm at my new address. Yes, I do have lots of things, still, there are things nor found, small things. However, that is not the reason for this addition. You write that I was fully aware of what I was expected to pay when the movers came to move me possessions, not true. Who do you know has on hand the kind of money that the mover requested of me, on a Saturday. Most banks are closed, getting a money order from my bank, in the amount that was being requested, before they would continue to remove anything else, was astronomical to me, I actually cried like a baby. It was pitiful to watch, the mover let me walk out of the apartment to get the money, the rest is history. For extremely large sums, credit is used. My bank on a week day only gives $2,000 in currency, and the remainder in a cashiers check, which I might add, the movers would not have accepted. The original folks never gave an exact sum that I would pay, only their estimates, which never go down, only up, they don't have anyone who can go to the job site, and personally measure the load. The cokameme taging of boxes did nothing to track inventory. It only counted items, small or large. I was told by the driver that the truck had to be serviced, did that mean that they had to off load my things? It took a long time for them to get to me. Still, I had to pay in full cash.
