******** ****** **** ***** **** ******** *** ***** ********************* Berry’s Well Drilling ** *** **** ********* *** 32579 *************************t To Whom it May Concern I Am writing this letter regarding a service I received from Berry’s Well Service on 12 July 23. I contacted Roberta of Berry’s Well Drilling, on 16 June 2023 to dig me a new well at my residence. I was told it would take two to three weeks for someone to show up to come by and look at the work required. At this time, she verbally quoted me $2,000.00 for the service. She stated that an additional $200.00 to $300.00 would be billed if their truck could not fit between the house and the fence where the old well was located. She also requested a $1,000.00 down payment. I gave her the down payment on 17 June 23. In turn I received the quote in hard copy. The quote stated $2,000.00 with a statement as follows: If you don’t meet state setback price could be $100 or $350.00 more. The check was cashed on 19 June 23. Three weeks and three days (12 July23) with no prior notice as they showed up at my house. They could not access the side of the house because I didn’t have my gate/fence removed for their truck to gain entrance. I did not hear from them in the three weeks in any capacity to let me know they were coming. They said they would come back when my gate/fence was removed. They didn’t give me a return date and time. Had my fence removed same day. They returned two days later without notice and didn’t let me know what they were doing. I thought they were doing a site visit so that they could provide me with an itemized quote. They came and went without saying ONE word to me. Once I realized that they were gone I checked the pump area and saw that a new pipe was in the ground. I called Roberta and told her that I had no idea that they were there to do the work and I thought they were there to see what had to be done and follow on with an itemized quote. She said, “oh no there is no way we could do that we have too much work to do anything like that”. I explained to her that I was not happy with that answer, and she said I would need to speak to her son, the owner of the company. I tried to speak to her son, left a message with my concern and requested a return call. Three days later (19 June 23) I got a knock at the door and was told my pump was connected to my well and the sprinklers were turned on. As he was leaving, he informed that one of the workers was so gracious to help reinstall my gate/fence as a courtesy. That was so not true. I paid someone to complete that work and they did NOT receive any help from anyone. That same day I did receive a call telling me they would like to schedule an appointment to INSTALL my well. I couldn’t believe it and told the female they obviously didn’t have a handle on what was happening in their company and that I had a complaint and I wanted to speak to the owner. She said she would give him the message. No return call to date. In total I called to speak to the owner/son 4 times and did not once get a return call. I received my bill of $2,850.00 and contacted Roberta and said that’s not what she quoted me. She informed me that she can’t tell everyone what must be done and billed for. That’s what the FIRST appointment was for which never happened. I tried to ask her what she was billing me for which she never mentioned before. First, she said that my pump had to be moved, (not true). Then she couldn’t tell me as she was on vacation which the few times, I was able to speak to her she was on vacation and couldn’t help me with any information on my final bill of $2850.00 to include offset, check valve and full grout. (a.) check valve is $75.00 to $250.00. (b.) Florida Regulations 62-610.471: Setback Distances: (2) No setback distance is required to any nonportable water supply well. (5) Setback distances are not required for surface waters or developed areas. (7) No setback distances are required for private swimming pools, hot tubs, spas, saunas, picnic tables, or barbecue pits or grills. (c.) Grouting is an effective and necessary measure for the protection of public health and ground water quality. I would like to know why there was $850.00 added to my invoice and why this cost wasn’t included in the quote of $2,000.00. Why wasn’t I told that those costs could be billed to me as additional? How can you just arbitrarily quote someone $2,000.00 and add $850.00 (a 42.5%) increase without any prior indication that these costs could/will be added. I didn’t ask for a check valve. My well water is not used for drinking. Grouting is part of the installation. How does those three items total $850.00? The quote in the amount of $2,000.00 IS PAID IN FULL Why didn’t I get a courteous return phone call after requesting it four times. Regards, ******** ****** ***** *** ******* ** **** ** ********* **** ********

I paid Berry Well and Drilling $5,800 to drill a new well for the yard around my newly built home. At the time of the drilling, I was told I might have a slight trace of rust, but they would test the water when they stopped drilling. At that time I was told I would have a slight trace of rust, but they could not drill any deeper. Less than two months later my sidewalk, driveway, sides of my home, patios at the back of my home, and pavers in the backyard leading up to my dolphin fountain, were covered with an incredible amount of dark, dark, dark rust! I called and asked them to come out and check the rust. I received a voice mail message that said: “if you have any issues please do not call back.” I then sent a documented letter, with photos of the dark rust, rust, rust, by certified mail, return receipt requested. They refused acceptance of the letter, and the Post Office returned my letter. I then checked the permit for my well and discovered that they did not comply with the representations made on their permit application. I then had to arrange for Water Works to reconnect 5 of the 6 zones to city water to avoid further rust accumulation. That cost me over $3,000. Furthermore, my city water bills and the sewage bills have increased over $300 a month! So much for their website representation of a one-year warranty!
