    I contacted Home-Tech to repair the ice maker in my Subzero fridge. The initial call-out visit ($169) resulted in the ordering of replacement parts and a follow-up visit to install the new ice maker. The part was quoted during a phone call from Home-Tech ($890). I was surprised by the high price but agreed. Two Technicians arrived with the part on November 8th and installed the parts, telling me it would take 24 hours for the new parts to cycle and produce ice. After 36 hours, there was still no ice. I called Home-Tech, and they scheduled another Technician for the following day. While waiting for the technician, I looked on the internet at the Subzero website to see if there were any references related to my problem. I immediately started receiving notices from subzero parts suppliers about the availability of Model 650 icemaker replacement parts. The prices went from a low of $49.00 to a high of $129.00. I was billed $890.00! The new technician arrived and did the necessary repairs, which included, 1. Turning on the water, which the previous technicians had not done. 2. removing the new icemaker and reinstalling; the technician showed me that it had been installed crookedly with only one of the required four screws actually used. He also removed the freezer drawer, which the previous technician had reinstalled incorrectly when he finished his repairs on Nov. 8th. I explained my concern about the cost of the replacement parts. The Technician said I had approved the transaction and I should take up my concern with the Company. I called Home-Tech and explained my concern. I was told I needed to speak to the Service manager. It has been five days. I have called every day and spoken with someone who said the service manager was not available or that the service manager would call me. So, I am now posting this review, which I will begin reposting on as many websites as possible. I have posted on the Better Business Bereau website.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. After reviewing your account, I see that you agreed to the amount stated above prior to the repair. To be clear, the charges you incurred were not just for the parts. The charges were a flat rate for parts and labor. Parts can be found online cheaper, but they may be refurbished or not the correct part at all. This cheaper price does not include the cost to have a trained professional come to your home and install it. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out and we'll be happy to help.

    I cannot say enough good things about Home Tech. I've been a Gold Member for about five years. Before I joined Home Tech, I struggled to find reliable, high quality and reasonably priced service for my AC, appliances, and other issues. Since joining Home Tech, it's been fantastic. Last summer I was up North and my smart thermostat warned me that my AC had stopped working on a Saturday at 10 am. I called Home Tech and the technician was there within two hours and had it working again within three hours of my calling. I've used them for problems with plumbing (toilets), appliances (icemaker), disposal, dryer, and others and they are always there that day or the next. Not only has Home Tech saved me a lot of money, but more importantly, they are there promptly, they have their OWN EMPLOYEE TECHNICIANS qualified to do the job right the first time. The peace of mind of knowing that any problem will be fixed promptly is of a value that is incalculable...especially when I'm up North for the summer. Also, with the Gold service, there's no deductible. I highly recommend Home Tech, and recommend the gold service with plumbing and electrical coverage. Thank you Home Tech.
