My father passed away on 10/28/2023 he was transported from *********** ** to hickson funeral home. My dads viewing service was on 11/18 he was expected to be cremated after the viewing. I got his life insurance payout on 11/23 I sent the check to the funeral home on 12/3 due to the thanksgiving holiday I was more than patient and waited for them to get the check after I saw the check cleared my bank I wait a week to call the funeral home about my dads ashes i spoke to an answering service who told me they would leave a message for the funeral techs to call me back for an ETA for my dads ashes 3 days with no call. my mother, aunt and I started to call almost daily 5-6 times only ever speaking to an answering service. Living almost 3 hours away from this funeral home we could not physically go there for a face to face updated finally on December 22 well over a month since my fathers service I got a tech on the phone and after asking about if I was able to pick up my dads ashes I was rudely told by a tech hes not cremated, he is still in a refrigerator who told you hed be ready? This tech who never gave him name continues to be rude and disrespectful saying well we never got paid in which I informed him he was lying or Ill informed due to the fact they got paid back in the beginning of December. I informed him if I didnt have my fathers ashes by the following Friday after Christmas I would seek legal action due to the emotional distress and mental anguish of my father still sitting in a refrigerator a month after his service. This tech told me you do whatever we have lawyers to I then ended the call as my emotional stress reached beyond consolable. After hanging up my aunt receives a call from funeral owner **, and proceeds to tell her good news that my father is ready to be picked up. This is gross misuse of a corpse but I dont think its good business to treat a grieving family with such rudeness then do your job after legal action is brought up.
