    ******* A. ***** policy# *********** ( former address: ******************************).My mother passed away in 2015. My stepfather passed away in 2024. They had a homeowners policy through Universal ***************************. The Agent is ************************ located *********************************************************************************I have emailed and called numerous times.I submitted all death certificates as well as estate papers. They refuse to refund the amount of $237.

    We do not concur with the statements outlined in this complaint. The refund in the amount mentioned was issued on July 01, 2025, and reissued July 08, 2025, to the estate of the last-named insured on the policy. It has been communicated to the complainant that they are not listed as an insured under the policy, and therefore the refund cannot be provided to them. If a refund is to be issued directly to the complainant, court documentation authorizing such an action has been requested. As of now, the necessary documentation has not been received.

    The refund check was written out to ********* ***** (who passed away in 2015).
    My stepdad passed away in September 2024- thats when I called to cancel the policy- explaining that my mom passed away first in 2015.

    I submitted documentation that I was the executor of ******* ***** estate. 
    I requested the check be written out to the estate of ******* *****.

    I received refund checks written out to ********* *****( passed away in 2015)- I cannnot deposit this check.

    The refund check was written out to ********* ***** (who passed away in 2015).

    In an effort to best  accommodate the descendants of our former insured's estate, we have conducted an additional review of the policy. Based on the documentation received on July 1, 2025, the policy has been updated, and the refund was reissued on July 11, 2025, to the estate of the last-named insured on the policy. The Complainant is advised to consult with the former insureds agent of record to obtain additional information regarding the recent changes.

    As noted in our July 11, 2025, response, in order to best serve the descendants of our former insured's estate, we have conducted an additional review of the policy. Based on the documentation received on July 1, 2025, the policy has been updated, and the refund was reissued on July 11, 2025, to the estate of the last-named insured on the policy.

    Currently, it appears that the Complainant has not reached out to the agent of record for further details concerning the recent changes. It is recommended that the Complainant consult the former insureds agent of record to acquire additional information regarding these updates.

    Holding depreciation check, was to be released upon completion of roof. Completed approximately on 3/19/2025

    Thank you for your inquiry and the opportunity to respond to the complaint. We have reviewed the matter in light of the complaint filed by the insured and we have issued and mailed a payment in the amount of $3,427.48 representing the Recoverable Depreciation on April 11, 2025.

    We appreciate the insureds patience and understanding in this matter.
