I prepaid for the car I was renting. I was going to use my own automobile insurance and not theirs. I was told I needed $300,000 of coverage to rent from them. I have rented cars from ****, National, Hertz, Payless, Economy and others without ever hearing of this. This information is not available on any of there websites. I was charged $240 on top of what I had prepaid for the car. There were 2 other customers present when I was there who were both equally blindsided and ****** off. This is not right. Something needs to be done. They should at least be forced to make this policy known.Initial Complaint

I bought a ticket to ******* and there I had a combo with a car rental. From 08/29/2024 to 09/01/2024 They had requested me to pay $300 for insurance, also they had requested me to pay $1,000 for deposit, and they told me they will send it back to the credit card between 7 to 10 business day, today is 09/16/2024, and I havent heard anything back from them. I cant contact them via phone or email, their website wasnt working when I tried several times, and they dont answer the WhatsApp number that they have on their website. On my way back to return the vehicle, one car ahead of me hit a couch and the couch hit the car, so it was s small dent, I have pictures.I called the police and the police said it was no ones fault. The *** at the car rental new that I had to catch my flight back home, he told me to sign a paper to give to the insurance, and I find out when I got home the next day that they had a small line at the end saying that I am responsible for the damage.First of all they took advantage of me because I was very nervous and anxious to catch my flight back home. The *** told me your money will be back on your account, that is for everyone. That wasnt true, they lied to ****** I am trying to contact them without a success. Im asking to have my deposit back, because I have paid for insurance, and the accident wasnt my fault. Why they have me pay for insurance to cover the car? And why they are holding my deposit? This company is a bid time scam!!!!Please help!!!!Thank you!I really appreciate it, I am struggling to pay my bills, and certainly they dont care.Initial Complaint

I made a rental car reservation through Expedia for Green Motion. Rental dates were Oct 21 - 28, 2023. Prior to making the reservation, I checked on line to see what requirements I needed to fullfill as the rental rate was lower than the major car rental dealers. The only caveat was having full rental car insurance through my personal insurance carrier, and providing documentation of that insurance. I checked with my carrier (The Hartford) and was assured that I indeed did have full coverage. They even provided me with a letter confirming the coverage. When I went to pick up the car on Oct 21 2023, I was told that even though they acknowledged that I had the full coverage required, it was not from one of their 'approved' insurance companies! It was incredulous that a major carrier like The Hartford was not 'approved'. It was even more incredulous that my on line search of Green Motion made no mention at all of the 'approved' insurance carriers being a requirement. As a result, I was left with no option but to pay and additional $139.93 plus tax $9.80 to purchase their insurance. In Jan 2024, I wrote to Green Motion with this complaint. They responded by repeating that my insurance coverage was not included in their 'approved' list of companies. They offered to credit me 20% of the additional insurance that I had to purchase. I responded by requesting they provide me with the criteria for not accepting *********************** They never responded.Since there was no mention of approved carriers until arriving at the rental office, I feel I was the victim of fraud by this company, and want a full refund of the insurance paid ($149.73),Initial Complaint

I booked my rental car through Expedia with Green Motion. I went to Green Motion Rental Car to pick up my rental and during the check-in process they proceeded to show me a short list of accepted personal insurance companies. My insurance *********** was not on the approved list and it was going to be an additional ~$250 to purchase Green Motion's insurance for 5 days. Looking at the reservation it is in the fine print that if there are any questions regarding insurance to call. That is how they cover this "term". There is no "accepted" insurance list on the reservation confirmation. I have never had an issue where a rental car agency does not accept the renter's personal insurance policy. I then refused to pay the additional amount $250 for insurance that I did not need and left their office. I then went to another car rental company and rented a car using my personal insurance (like I have done many times before this interaction).I called Expedia that day and they said they could not do anything. I disputed this charge through my credit card and they were not able to do anything. I called the one phone number listed for Green Motion and asked for the *************** manager and they said he was not available. I explained my situation with their customer service rep and he kept repeating that it is in the terms and conditions. I then asked for his supervisor and he promptly said no one was available. I asked when someone would be available and he did not know. He said that I would have to keep on calling that one number to see if I could catch a supervisor. I do not feel that I should have to pay for a service I did not use. They could have rented out that car over the course of the 5 days of my reservation and not been out any money. There is just no customer service or accountability for this situation. I would like a refund.Initial Complaint

Rented a car through Priceline they force you to take there liability insurance which they price at 3 times the base rental fee The car was old and had the following defects Had a bad smell Tire pressure light on The keys battery didn't work so I couldn't lock and unlock the car with the remote only manual Very poor customer service time to get the government involved to place some guidelines on how these companies may bill for coverage its insane when you book for 78 dollars and then at the counter they charge another 269 for liability insuranceInitial Complaint

I booked car rental at Greenmotion from 7/1/23 to 7/4/23. It's a horrible experience to use Greenmotion's car rental service. Greenmotion advertises with low price but charges with hidden insurance fees. When I picked up car, I was enforced to purchase Greenmotion's own supplemental libility insurance (SL1) with unresaonable high price. Florida state requires property damage libility (PDL) $10k. My personal vehicle insurance provides comprehension protection, covers $100k PDL for rental car. Greenmotion told me their company policy is $300k PDL, and enforced me to purchase SL1 $35.99/day, but Greenmotion's website shows $15.99/day. I still use my personal vehicle insurance and spent $143.96 just for 4 days supplemental coverage! Greenmotion's insurance liability limit requirement and insurance premium is unreasonable high. That's the way they ripoff the customer.I upload my invoice for your reference. Thank you.Initial Complaint

From March 17th to March 20th 2023 I had a car rental purchased through Priceline with Green Motion and was charged $60. It seemed like a great deal and no mention of extra costs. Since there was no mention of other costs I WILL incur, I thought my financial burden was over. Except when we get to the Green Motion counter, I am told that we MUST buy insurance despite no mention of it before or the fact that we have our own insurance. Mind you, it is now late, it would require a shuttle to go back to the rest of the car rental agencies, and we would be out our initial payment. We were told our only option would be to go to another car rental agency. Since our only other option was more money and more inconvenience we were FORCED to sign the car rental agreement. Green Motion had ample opportunity to inform us that there would be an additional cost by their choosing. We were charged an additional $158 on top of our initial $60 fee. - Green Motion took longer than we were told to return our required deposit and was not the most responsive in communicating what was taking so long. In fact, i received communication how to address the matter, after the matter had been resolved. So I decided to go through my credit card to get the money back that was taken from us. Because we were forced to sign the car rental agreement, we really did not have much to go on, and despite Green Motion's deceptions, we accepted the credit cards decision.- I would like our money back but I hope they will do more than that. I hope they will also change their deceptive at best practices that they are notorious for (see reviews). No one should be surprised with an additional bill. You know something is wrong when that happens. This was not an add on we wanted. This was an add on they demanded and were not upfront about it. We had perfectly good insurance. If they claim it was somewhere, it certainly was not obvious that a 300% increase in price is to be expected.
