    Our gas line was incorrectly disconnected by Florida Public Utilities. We moved into our home in May and set up automatic payments on our account. We logged into their system and confirmed that it was set up correctly and showed that automatic payments were set up. They believed that we had a past due balance (which we did not and their system showed we did not) so they sent someone over to shut the gas off. We have never been late on any payments of any kind in over 40 years. The person we spoke with at Florida Public Utilities apologized for their system error but then told us they have to collect over $100 to re-connect the gas that they erroneously disconnected. She was very apologetic but said that there was nothing we could do. As Florida Public Utilities is a monopoly, I don't doubt that there is nothing she could do....they do whatever they want. Aside from the cost, we were without hot water for three days while taking care of our brother-in-law as he recovers from a stroke. I want the erroneous fees reversed. As an aside, their customer service system is horrible. The person that we dealt with was fine but we were on hold for 40 minutes and disconnected twice. As you can see in the attached, payments were made and it shows autopay was set up. We were NEVER advised of any late payment (because there were none) and they made a significant mistake. For me to have to pay for their mistake and what we had to deal with is ridiculous.

    The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life and I'm 64 years old. *************** don't answer the phone unless you request a call back which can take hours. When they do call the attendants are unable to access your auto payment account. Instead they offer a call back within ***** hours at any time they please. The utility company charged me twice and I'm having difficulty getting back the double charge of over $280. Very poor customer service!
