They charged me a second time instead of refunding my deposit, and then they lied to me and said they never charged my card the first time. They ended up charging me $1500 for a 3 day car rental and then lied about it. I had to get Thrifty customer service on a three way call so the bank could prove to them that they overcharged me. They then refused to call the bank to release my deposit. I will be pursing legal action. This company is deplorable and they are stealing from hard working people!

DO NOT — I REPEAT — DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY ROBBED ME. I booked a one-day car rental through Expedia and was supposed to pay at the counter. When I arrived, the Thrifty agent — who was incredibly not helpful giving proper explanation — charged me $135 for the day. Fine. I returned the car early, nearly an hour before the agreed return time. Then two days later, I get a receipt showing they charged me $393. I was stunned. No explanation, no justification — just an outrageous charge. I immediately filed a complaint with Expedia. Thrifty responded saying they'd issue a refund. But here's what these scammers actually did: they charged me another $393 and refunded the first $393. So instead of refunding the difference or correcting the overcharge, they just doubled it. They had told me they'd refund $260, and instead I ended up being charged $786 for what was supposed to be a $135 one-day rental. This is not a mistake — this is straight-up theft. A complete scam. I feel absolutely violated and furious. Thrifty, you are a disgrace. This is fraudulent behavior and you should be held accountable. DO NOT rent a car from Thrifty. They will overcharge you, lie about fixing it, and leave you fighting for your money. I will never use this company again — and I’ll make sure everyone I know avoids them too.

Absolutely garbage. Book with Expedia for $333. They email me to check in for my trip. Everything is fine until they ask me for my flight info. I’m arriving 4 hours before my reservation time I made several months ago. They change the booking $727
For 4 hours difference with no warning. Call to have them change it back. They do but no change in rate. Expedia or Thrifty is no help.

I did a rental from Thrifty Car Rental at MCO Orlando Airport. This rental was prepaid with Bank of America with points and cash. As I was checking out, I was never asked about any other options, I was just told to put my initials. When returning the car, I noticed how Liability insurance was added without my knowledge, and I was charged $140.57. I told the lady at checkout when getting rental that I did not need insurance because I already have and she added it to my account without my knowledge. I have sent several messages and also a message has been sent to the manager. I cannot get anyone to contact me back about this situation.

Horrible. Did not have the vehicle that I reserved and charged double for the vehicle they had on hand. The car smelled like dirty feet upon start up. When I returned the vehicle there were at least 70 people waiting for vehicles. Horrible horrible experience.

One of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. I reserved and paid for an all-wheel drive vehicle from Thrifty for a trip to the Mauna Kea Summit in Hawaii, where AWD is required. Thrifty gave me a rear-wheel drive vehicle without informing me of the change. I only found out after driving all the way to the Visitor Center, where we were turned away — wasting an entire day of our trip and the purpose of staying in Hilo. I’ve exchanged over 20 emails with Thrifty and Hertz customer service. I was told by Expedia (who I booked through) that Thrifty had confirmed I was eligible for a refund, only for Thrifty to later refuse it. I was offered a $50 voucher, then ignored. When I followed up, I was handed off to different agents who repeated the same copy-paste responses and never addressed my concerns. This level of miscommunication, lack of accountability, and complete disregard for customer experience is unacceptable. I will not be renting from Thrifty or Hertz again.

NOT Thrifty......... I rented a car from the Thrifty outlet serving the Raleigh-Durham airport about two months prior to my arrival at RDU. When I arrived, they did not have the vehicle I wanted, and offered me an electric rental, which I did not want, since I didn't know the number of miles I would be driving and did not know the availability of charging stations. My option was to upgrade to a larger vehicle at the price of an additional $30 per day. I chose not to have them fill the gas on my return and filled the tank up less than 10 miles from the airport. In addition, I declined the Plate-Pass for tolling roads as I was unfamiliar with the routes to be driven. When I got my credit card bill, there was a $42 charge added because I had taken a toll road. My son, who lives in the area, said my tolls would not have amounted to more than a few bucks. This is a scam!

Reserved car and checked in prior to arrival. On arrival no car available for almost two hours. They kept offering me a large truck which I clearly didn't want. Then we were put in a car but couldn't exit because the gate check lady said we weren't in the correct car. Had to wait for a car to be driven over from Hertz. At the check-in counter, we had to redo all the check-in information. I was told the online check in is not sent to the local business. I was also told the insurance I paid for on line was not valid with Thrifty. I read the entire policy. The counter agent was lying and wanting me to buy their more expensive policy. Very unpleasant experience! The car was filthy. The garage agent told us the cars are not washed.

Our rental experience with Thrifty was horrible. This was our familys first trip to ****** and Thrifty made it less enjoyable. It took our representative at the airport a very long time to process our booking (over an hour). We used Expedia to book the rental, however we were NOT told beforehand about the $500 hold that would be placed due to using a debit card. Very unprofessional! We were also not told about the extra fuel and insurance fee fees required on the vehicle (totaling over $300)! Even worse to follow was that our cars battery died. It was cranking 0 V. We called roadside assistance and had to wait nearly 2 hours for help. They would not bring us a replacement vehicle instead they sent AAA to jumpstart the vehicle and we had to drive ALL the way back to the airport to exchange it. Whenever we went to exchange the vehicle, they even mixed up the exchange vehicles make and model and had to wait for them to sort it out. My family is VERY displeased with our experience and we would NEVER recommend Thrifty to anyone.

I called Thrify's local office in the Orlando airport because I knew we would need to use a debit card and not a credit card. I told them I needed all the information about renting with debit card. I was told 1. Flight info needed 2. There would be a $500 hold on my debit card. What I was NOT told was they would run a credit report! Unbelievable. They are holding $500 on my debit card for a rental worth about $150 and they need to run a credit report??? We did not rent from Thrifty but went next door to Enterprise - no deposit, no credit check -- just appreciation for our business and great service. Will never even look at Thrifty in the future. Oh, and I'm a Travel agent -- guess who I will NOT be recommending to any of my clients?
