Absolutely frustrating experience with the Aspen counter agent, costed us $200 because of misinformation and frankly laziness. There is no supervisor to escalate to, you call the customer care number but can’t actually get a hold of someone. It started with my mistake as made reservation from Vail airport instead of aspen airport. When got to Aspen, agent said no cars available… so was forced to rent from Avis at very high rate. One hr later checked on line with hertz and plenty of availability (at my original discount rate). Went back to rental and swapped cars… paying Avis $200 for 2 hrs. Hertz agent said again sold out but because I had a res went and got me a car anyway. Complete waste of my time as cars were available, agent just did not want to set it up (she even said I’m alone today and am busy). Great customer service.

Hertz Forces their custom insurance onto reservations even when requested not to have it. Without careful review of this rental quote this cannot be seen. This practice is deceptive in nature and should be abolished. It has taken 4 calls to remove this from my account / reservation.

Horrible customer service! I rented a car for Ireland for 7 days. I prepaid $924.91. At the ****** Hertz rental desk, they charged me $846.88 without any credit of items I already paid. The total rental was $1771.79 for 7 days in a ****** C-HR. The car was not cleaned out and was filthy. I have contacted Hertz multiple times regarding the charges with no response in the last 2 weeks. We also stood in line for TWO hours at ************** to even get the rental car. Horrible service, dirty car, and criminal exorbitant charges.

I rented a car from Hertz at ********************************. I rented the minivan with a child seat and a booster seat. The reservation says it's $60 each for the 5 days, plus taxes and fees $136.80. When I got to the counter in **********, I asked to confirm my total and charges and she did.I returned the vehicle on time, no problems, but got a bill for the car seats for $177.21 which they charged me after I returned home to **.I wrote Hertz that they overcharged me and should refund me the difference. They responded with sorry for the inconvenience but those are the charges and your original quote was wrong, we need to change the price on the website. I told Hertz I verified it at the counter when renting and the agent told me it was correct. Hertz told me sorry, these are the charges now and we will not refund any of your money. I told Hertz, this is the exact false that **** just went thru with extra charges and lost the class action suit. I have been a loyal Hertz member and renter for 30 years, this is very disappointing customer service by the operations manager at Hertz. BUYER BEWARE

I rented a compact sedan for my trip to Yelowstone in May-June through Priceline (prepaid). My friend and I are seniors with limited mobility and so rented a car that was easy to get into and good on gas. I stated my pick-up and drop-off dates and times and rented a compact sedan. Priceline put me with Hertz (I had no choice). We had two major problems with Hertz in ******* ******* (airport):1) When my friend and I arrived at the Hertz rental counter they did not have a compact sedan since their supply was still on trucks and not yet delivered. The clerk informed us we would have to take another vehicle in the Hertz compact cars category: a ****** Tacoma or a Jeep Gladiator. Neither are compact cars. These mid-size pick-up are very high and we couldn't climb up into either vehicle. Neither is good on gas and not what I rented through Priceline. We saw ****** Corollas in the Hertz lot. Corollas compact sedans according to EPA's standards. We asked for one of the Carollas since it IS a compact car. The clerk said Hertz classifies the Carolla as a mid-size car even though it is not. We were forced to either not get a rental car and start out vacation OR to pay $14 extra per day for a Corolla. With no other option we paid the extra $14 per day.2) We returned the car (before the time indicated in our Priceline agreement) but were charged an extra day. Hertz did not honor our Priceline agreement. If Hertz does business through Priceline they need to honor the contract (price and pick-up and return dates and times. What we experienced was a bait and switch. Hertz accepted our Priceline contract knowing they did not have the car we rented and then forced us into a situation where we had to pay extra to get an equivalent car. They then, knowing the pick-up and return dates in our Priceline agreement, charged us an extra day of rental. This is deceitful and dishonest.

This place is ridiculous, I tried renting a car for a road trip with a friend of mine, her car wouldnt make the trip and my car had last min mechanical issues so we settled on renting last minute. Which was our first issue because hertz is NOT last minute friendly, it was impossible to get ahold of them over the phone and the website wouldnt let me make the reservation due to not enough time so when I finally was able to make the reservation I set pick up time for 8 am and when I got there they tried telling me I couldnt get the car until 2pm at the earliest (I was there right at 8 am as my itinerary and reservation had said to be). Now as I did end up getting the vehicle, I was quoted online for just under 500$ after taxes and fees, when I received the vehicle I was charged over 700$.

I rented a one way rental from Oxford ,Al. The car was beat up , filthy , and needed an oil changed. The return vehicle from Atlanta was a nightmare. I paid and checked in . I was directed to the car pick up level . I showed the girl the receipt and was told to go pick an suv and leave. When I get to the last check point , I was told the car was marked as unsafe and to take it back . I go back and ask for directions to the choices . I was told ‘“ I already told you what to do.” I stop to get something out of my bag. The employee yelled , “ I told you to pick a car and leave!” This car also was past due on an oil change.

My experience with Hertz services has been frustrating while trying to help my dad who is an Uber driver. The level of responsiveness and customer service with the simplest processes such obtaining receipts is terrible. Also, the managers are not empowered to solve problems for customers such as explaining a simple charge. The lack of communication when there are issues is appalling. I requested to speak with the District manager and I was given a wrong phone number. How can a branch manager not have a contact information for her District manager? The rental process for Uber drivers and the charges subjected to them is confusing and predatory. The branch manager claimed that they were not able to charge for the electric charges for 3-4 weeks. There was no communication to the drivers that they were going to be charged the entire month of electrical recharge, which for these individuals can be financially devastating. After bringing this issue to their attention, there was little to no attempt to fully help me understand these charges. I do not recommend this service to anyone. Given the number low ratings at the BBB is evident that the company does not care about its customers experience. I am very surprised that BBB still rates this company a A-.

I booked an SUV online from Hertz for four days. A charge appeared on my credit card for $103.96 for tolls after few days. I checked online and found out that I was charged a flat fee of $25.99 per day for tolls. This is something I was not aware. Nothing such was disclosed at the time of booking online and at the time of pickup of the vehicle. Hertz along with their third party PLATEPASS for tolls is ripping off the customers.
I stayed within Long Island most of the time. If I knew about this outrageous toll charge I would have paid cash all the way. I think the total toll for the whole trip was not more than $25.
I called the Hertz location but there is no option to reach an agent. I am really mad at this with no solution.
I can only say that BEWARE OF OUTRAGEOUS CHARGES OF TOLLS by PLATEPASS.
