Extra $100 in charges at airport not revealed in rental agreement. Additional charges for tolls which doubled the cost. All this is in small print on your cell phone at the desk...total ripoff!

Arrived in Shreveport @ approximately 4:15pm, went to hertz to confirm reservation, for a Yukon style vehicle, told by Cindy I had to wait for the vehicle to be brought upstairs have a seat. After 45 minutes, I inquired again, told by Cindy they have Tahoes available just text crew to tell them a customer is waiting. After another minutes I inquired again a crew member was heard telling Cindy there’s no Tahoes available for rent only to buy. They then confirm there was a Buick Enclave available which was sufficient for my party of 7, so I expected. Now during the rental process there computers were have issues, Cindy process three separate payment if $278 on my CO credit card without clearly explaining what was going on. She just kept saying I have to do it again the computer didn’t give me an authorization, which didn’t print a contract. She then made a comment “like it good you have this available on your card” which lead me to look at my phone where I saw 3 text from Capital One, that lead me to ask Cindy did you just charge my credit card 3 separate charges of $278. She stated she had to because the system wasn’t printing the paperwork, she said the charges would come off tonight. I explained to her, that not the point, she should have fully explain what she doing before charging my card almost $900. This whole experience was terrible for I was only in Shreveport for one day for the daughter’s graduation and now I home and the charges are still pending on my credit card.

Miserable. As bad as they say it is and worse. Extortionate, inconsiderate and lazy.

Rented a car a month ahead of trip with confirmation number. On arrival day we were told they had no more vehicles. Left us stranded in an unsavory part of town leaving us no choice but to Uber to Boston. Hertz refused to refund any of our Uber costs due to there incompetence. Needless to say, my family and business will never use Hertz again.

We rented a car and all seemed well until a month later. We received a bill for nearly $700 saying we damaged the car. A call to Hertz told us the hood was “scratched”. We didn’t scratch, nor did we see any scratches at all. We will contest but google this information- Hertz does this frequently. Rent from any other company and don’t fall prey to their scam.

Our first and last experience with Hertz was appalling. Despite being part of the Presidential Rewards program, which is advertised as guaranteeing a reserved car will be ready, this was not the case. We arrived in Iceland at 6:30am with our reservation beginning at 7:30am. At 7:30 we were told the car was not ready and might take another hour. An hour later, we were informed the vehicle was still unavailable because the previous renter had not returned it. A reservation confirmed months in advance was meaningless. Hertz’s proposed “solution” was even more shocking: they suggested we drive an hour away to another town to look for a car. Asking paying customers, who upheld their end of the agreement, to take on more burden shows a disregard for customer service. Yet we still had to wait several more hours while a car was transported from Reykjavik. In total, we lost 4–5 critical hours from our trip — time we can never get back. The ordeal continued later with more than an hour on the phone, shuffled between departments, hearing scripted responses and disclaimers of responsibility. Eventually, I was told to “go online and chat with support.” In total, Hertz wasted 6–7 hours of our time between the airport and follow-up calls, simply because they failed to fulfill their most basic obligation: to have a car ready for a confirmed reservation. Equally troubling was Hertz’s deflection of blame. Phone reps claimed it was “the site manager’s responsibility” to ensure Presidential Rewards members had vehicles prepared. This finger-pointing shows a company culture of avoidance. Rather than taking ownership, Hertz minimized the problem and disregarded its impact. Losing half a day of travel was unacceptable, but the lack of empathy, transparency, and genuine effort to fix the situation revealed deeper flaws. Hertz’s failure to uphold commitments and take accountability makes it clear they cannot be trusted. This was our first time renting with Hertz, and it will be our last.

My jewelry was stolen. I left it in the car and tried to get it back immediately but they refused, I submitted a lost report as soon as I landed. I sent my mother several times to the counter after that but they still refused to look. There is no contact number for lost and found. It should have been found by now, I told them exactly where it was. I'm only getting the run around and even the chat help disconnects. Do not rent from here. I won't again ever. I'm putting the message out on social media and I'm telling all my family and friends.

On Friday 8/22 we had a car reserved thru Expedia. I called Hertz and discussed online that we did NOT want an electric vehicle and I was told it was not a problem when we get to the rental counter at Newark Airport. Well we waited in line for 90 minutes just to get to the counter and was told there are no gas vehicles available but could have the largest expedition which was available or a dam truck!!!!!! We were expecting a small/midsized car. Well…we were forced to take the upgrade in order to have a gas vehicle. The cost is $200.00 EXTRA a day!!!!!!!!!! My daughter ******* ***** rented the car and she chose the insurance with is fine. However, I am very angry and disgusted with the 200.00 extra per day going on her credit card. Also…..tell me what was already paid to Hertz thru Expedia. If I do not hear asap from you, I will also file a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General. This is the worst service and totally unacceptable.

This was the worst experience I have ever had renting a vehicle. They rented me a vehicle with an expired registration. What a mess, drove for eight days in an unregistered vehicle which also meant uninsured. The FOUR customer service people I spoke to were totally non-compassionate to my concern. I was promised three different times that a supervisor would call me back. Never happened. Thankfully there was not any accidents of bodily harm concerning this vehicle. Never, never again will I rent from Hertz.
