We reserved a minivan on Wednesday, June 11th, for pickup on Wednesday, July 10th—nearly a month in advance. Upon arrival at the Dollar location, we were informed that all minivans had been recalled nationwide and were no longer available, including the one we had reserved. This was unexpected and disappointing, especially given the advance notice of our reservation. The representative initially offered us a Ford Expedition XL, which we declined due to its significantly lower fuel efficiency an important factor for our 12-hour drive to Indianapolis, Indiana. We were then offered a Hyundai Palisade, which we accepted reluctantly, noting that it did not meet the specifications of our original reservation. Unfortunately, our challenges did not end there. The following morning, approximately three hours into our trip, we noticed fluctuating tire pressure readings. Shortly after, we experienced a tire blowout in the middle of Mississippi. While attempting to change the tire, the jack provided with the vehicle bent under the weight, rendering it unusable. We waited over two hours on the side of a busy highway with our family, in unsafe conditions, for a tow truck to arrive. The technician was only able to install a spare tire, limiting our speed to 50 mph with eight hours of travel remaining. We then had to locate a tire shop ourselves, pay out-of-pocket to have the tire plugged, and ultimately drive an additional two hours to the Memphis International Airport Dollar location to exchange the vehicle for the initial rental that we paid for (a minivan). Once we received the minivan, the complications did not stop there. A day into our trip, a plethora of warning lights popped up on the dashboard — the check engine light, brake light, traction light, etc. This entire ordeal delayed our trip by over four hours and caused significant stress and inconvenience for me and my family.

booked a compact SUV via Priceline for $119.42, to pick up July 4, 2025, 11:26 PM and return July 6 at 3:00 AM at Dollar Rent A Car, Boston Logan Airport. At the counter, the rep discouraged me from taking the assigned EV, claiming it wouldn’t last the weekend. He pressured me into a gas SUV upgrade for $60 and said my final charge would be $196.61. I declined all extras. At the lot, the rep claimed no SUVs were available, then “found” one and dropped the upgrade to $50. I accepted. I took photos of fuel level and mileage. Shortly after pickup, I saw a $384 hold. I called Dollar and was told $200 was a deposit and my final charge would be $183.73. I returned the car at 2:38 AM on July 6 (early), again taking photos to document return time, fuel, and mileage. Despite that, I was later charged $668.09. This included a false late fee, fuel charges (even though I returned with more gas), and other bogus fees I never agreed to. This is almost $500 more than what was promised. I tried calling Dollar multiple times—long holds, no resolution. I emailed Michael G******** (location manager)—no response. I want the company to honor the final amount of $183.73, as repeatedly confirmed by their employees both at the counter and over the phone. This was not a misunderstanding but a clear case of misrepresentation and deceptive billing. Please review and assist with a fair resolution. I am also pursuing a chargeback with my bank and reporting this across relevant channels.

Employees stole property left in vehicle. No live person to speak with. Advise to file a lost and found report, system doesn't allow a report to be submitted. Houston Bush location, phone number not listed nor is phone number on line. Customer Service is horrible with Dollar Car Rental.

On phone for hour with customer service until someone answered and wanted fuel receipt. We did not keep fuel receipt. READ THE FINE PRINT or better yet DON'T BOOK FROM A COMPANY WITH THIEVING, CONNIVING HIDDEN FEES!

I would leave zero stars if I could. I paid for a reservation almost three weeks in advance upfront. Had to call and switch only the first name on the reservation. Said no problem I can fix that. Went to get the car, they canceled my reservation. They made a new reservation and wanted me to pay again. Never told me this. Went in blindsided! Guess what!? Had to cancel our trip that we prepaid for as well! DONT USE THEM!!!!

Only one star because I cant leave zero. Paid in advance several months before, with loss insurance. After returning car, ( full gas tank, no damage, no tolls) was charged additional weekly rental plus more insurance and other fees. Numerous calls and emails to management ho unanswered. The advertised $355/week cost me almost $1400, and we only had car 5 days. Do NOT use this company!

Booked thru Expedia, paid $700 3 months in advance, went to pickup at Montreal airport and was hit with airport fees and taxes and additional roadside assistance that they push for you take along with pay upfront gas refill which is a rip off. Anyhow in the end this cost me an additional $527 on top of the $700 already paid. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE RATED BUSINESS, THEY DO NOT CARE AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ANY LIVE PERSON. I COMPLETED A FORM AND STILL NEVER HEARD BACK- NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I USE THIS TOILET BOWL BUSINESS

June 6,25 I had online reservation through Priceline for my rental car with Dollar car rental in *******, **. Airport **************************************************************** . After stand in line they have unprofessional employee, this was Friday at 3:30pm, on 06/06/25. She a pregnant young lady, after she finds my rental information, she tell me they doesn't do same day rental. After calling Priceline and the try to contact Dollar rental main off no one answered. So not only was my rental was not honored but my money wasn't refundable either, only thing refundable was they car insurance. So here it's is to day 06/11/25, my credit card was charged for a vechile which I never received. And as of today this company hasn't refundable my money. Are they a Scam, I asked my credit card company. I'm taking my contact as proof of payments and see what legal actions has to be taken to get my refund. Dollar rental has the money but I never received the rental. On top of begin disrespect by their employees in **********. Airport. I had to pay **** to pick me up again to bring me back home, They have no Manager on site at all to make them honored my contract that was paid for. Please put online in black and white that this company doesn't provide same day rental agreement. Priceline said they do and wondering why they not answering the phone or the email that they sent about giving me my refund. Please don't rent a vechile from this company Dollar Car rental because that lady was run and turned everyone else away as well she just don't care,

I have two complaints, one specific and one general (that my be price gouging). The specific is that I rented a small truck (paid in advance) but when I arrived, they only had larger ones making - requiring more gas and thus costing me more. The bigger complaint is related to tolls in **. Your only options for paying tolls is to "pre-purchase all tolls paid" for $13.99 per day OR pay each toll + a daily usage fee of $9.99. Some type of general convenience fee for processing seems approporiate but $9.99 for each day (on top of the tolls) seems excessive OR they should have some kind of option to log in and pay for your tolls directly from the state polling authority (in which case you really would be paying for the convenience if you used their service).I'm sure other rental companies are doing the same but it seems like price gouging - especially when no third option is available.
