      I ordered a custom vanilla cake with guava filling and rum soak from My Bakery Cakes and Treats for my son's graduation. I paid an initial deposit of $108.49 on 5/1/23. I repeatedly reminded the owner of the pick up day/time and sent her a text two days before the event on 5/20/23 as a final reminder. When I arrived on 5/20/23 to pick up the cake, her assistant stated that we needed to wait 15 minutes as they were still working on the cake. The owner ********* came out 40 minutes later offering no apology and her assistant took pictures of the cake completely disregarding and disrespecting our time. She did not have a box suitable for the cake and was cutting and taping boxes together. She then mentioned she added chocolate ganache before applying the fondant. She never asked me if this was ok. It didn't make sense as the order I placed was vanilla with guava filling and a "rum soak" . I immediately knew these flavors would clash, but at that point it was too late. I paid her the remaining balance of $72.33. The total for the cake was $180.82. Needless to say, we were late to my son's graduation. The exterior of the cake was decorated as discussed, however when I attempted to cut it, it fell apart into crumbs. I had to spoon crumbs onto my guests plates. This was an embarrassing moment. I also realized there was no rum soak and we were charged $10 additional for this. One guest was unable to eat the crumbs as she was allergic to chocolate. Chocolate that I never ordered. We've had custom cakes in the past and butter cream is always used under the fondant. We reached out to the owner the day after the event on 5/21/23 describing our negative experience and sent her pictures of the crummy cake. She refused to take accountability and did not apologize for making us late to an important event. She claimed using the rum soak , but she was not being honest. I've had many cakes with rum soak, and there was none. The cake was completely dry. She offered to make another cake, but that offer was not acceptable. I needed the cake the night before. She did not offer me a refund. She said, Im sorry you feel this way. Per invoice, the order I placed was not what I received. The cake was poorly made and was not eatable to myself or my guests. This was a once in a lifetime event/celebration I will never get back. In addition, my credit card company reached out to the merchant via letter and she refused to refund the $180.82.
