Dear *** Standard **********, I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue that my family and I have been dealing with at *** Standards apartment complex. On Friday, August 11th, 2023, at around 2 am, there was a leak in our living room ceiling. Despite immediately notifying the office, maintenance failed to rectify the situation. This is not the first time we have experienced such an issue; in May 2021, our ceiling collapsed, causing us to lose most of our possessions. On Sunday, August 13th, 2023, we noticed that the roof was caving in, and despite calling the emergency telephone number several times, we received no answer. After much back and forth, a supervisor was sent to our unit, and an extraction and dehumidifier were eventually called in. However, we have found the experience to be highly frustrating, and we believe management needs to be far more considerate of tenants. We have attached pictures of the incidents, and videos are available for you if you'd like. We have also copied all news outlets on this email because we believe this issue needs to be brought to the public's attention. We are actively seeking the contact information for the Regional Manager for the Apartment unit and would appreciate it if anyone has it; please share it with us. We are also seeking legal advice on this matter as we believe that the laws of ******* state that the landlord is responsible for maintaining the plumbing and roof in reasonably good working condition and making reasonable provisions to prevent pest infestation. Speaking with other tenants, this is a consistent, ongoing issue that ********** does not take seriously at the office. Several complaints have been made, and the problem persists. Tenants need to be treated better and live in a safe and habitable place. We cannot pay our rent and be in constant fear of our roof caving or there being a leak. ***re are several reviews of this leaking/flooding issue on ******* Unfortunately, rent is high in the area, and most people are unable to leave. However, we need help from News Outlet to get the message out there so that the ********** of *** Standards can be held accountable and comply with the lease agreement. *** tenants at *** Standard Apartment are crying out for HELP! We need to be treated better. Something needs to be done about this constant flooding, leaking, and pest infestation. I also emailed a 60-day vacate notice at the beginning of August. Because of this recent issue, I ask that we be released from our lease with no penalty and return our deposit.
