I have used Bayside for my preventative maintenance for 4 years now. Originally, another company installed the unit poorly. Bayside fixed my problems and it has been purring ever since (knock on wood ) .

I have a Maintenance Contract with Bayside Heating and Air Conditioning, from May 13, 2022. When I entered into a 3 year every 6 months contract, for $350.00. The technician, assured me that Bayside was not like other air conditioning companies. They would not push customers into costly repairs unnecessarily. They would address the needed repairs as inexpensively as possible, to keep your system running well. He provided me with a number of examples of what other companies did to unnecessarily take huge amounts of money from customers. I was so pleased to find such a reputable company. However, after 2 maintenance visits, Dec. 2022 and May 2023, I discovered that Bayside was just what the technician said they wouldnt be. They are unscrupulous and without integrity. In December, during their periodic maintenance visit, although my system was running well, the technician was putting a great deal of pressure on me to install another system. He gave me a cost of $1,340, to fix what I fixed myself for $110.00. On May 16, 2023, the technician that completed my periodic maintenance, told me my Freon level was down 4 pounds. According to him, my system holds 8 pounds of Freon. He was going to charge me $400.00. But, he was suggesting I should have my system replaced. I told him I would check with someone else. A couple of days later, my neighbor was having work done on her AC. I asked the technician to check my Freon level. He did. He said my system holds 5.1 pounds of Freon. My current level of Freon was 4.8. I did not need Freon.

Our job is not only to do a proper maintenance, on the A/C system, but to inform the customer on the condition, good or bad, and any problems found. That's what they pay us for. Its not a guarantee as they might hope for that nothing will ever be wrong. The first technician informed the customer, and showed her, that the fan blade, and shroud were severely rusted and damaged due to the reclaimed water hitting the unit from the sprinklers. He advised she repair it before it collapsed and caused further damage or failed. A price was given by the office in which she chose not to do. The second technician found the same problem, but now the system undercharged. The other technician she asked unfortunately did not advise her properly. The condenser actually does hold 5.4 lbs of refrigerant. That however doesn't include the refrigerant for the copper lines, and the air handler. The only possible way he would be able to know how many lbs the system had in it, would be if he removed every bit of refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine, into a empty refrigerant cylinder, and weighing it. That would be an extensive and expensive process. Guessing doesn't work. As far as making the repair herself. I don't know many customers who know how to remove a motor from a system, have fan puller to remove the blade, and install and rewire. If they did they probably wouldn't need us to do their maintenance. The parts for $110? As a licensed contractor, we can't even buy those parts for that little money. I'm sure shes not happy hearing that her A/C needs repair, or be upgraded, but discrerditing us for doing our job is wrong.

I appreciate the recent maintenance check by *******. He was very thorough and explained all that he was doing. ******* was the first AC technician to ever offer to inspect the ductwork in my attic, and I took him up on his offer. He pointed out some issues that I was able to correct to improve the flow of air through my system. He also gave me tips on what to look for to keep my system running at its peak. I appreciate the time he took in maintaining my system and explaining his efforts. He is a definite asset to Bayside *********************************** background, I bought the 4 ton Ruud system from Bayside ***** as well as some maintenance plan visits. A representative of the company calls me to schedule the visits when they are due to be completed. Shortly after I purchased the system, it had some issues that the company handled under the warranty. I am very happy with the service provided by Bayside *****.

I have a semi-annual service contract with Bayside ***************************** They checked my system 3/6/2023. Said I had leak in the Coil. Would need to replace coil for $2.560. My unit is 9 years old, replacement would be $9,548 for a Rheem. Had second opinion from another company on 3/8/2023 and technician said everything was good ,no need for any fixes. They quoted $8,500 for a new unit with a 4 star rating. ***** has a 3 star rating. This technician knew the Bayside technician and trained him about 19 years ago. Bayside checked for leaks using a green dye which showed a leak. My technician did same and no leak. Bayside said pressure was low, My technician checked and it was good. Bayside technician said ***** had rust. My technician said my unit does not have a Dryer. Bayside technician said unit is not weatherproof. My technician said all outside units are weatherproof, naturally. I have suspected Bayside of false claims in the past, always something expensive needs a fix. I will try to get the balance of my contract refunded. Seems like all their technicians are also sales people.

On 3/6 the technician went out and did the maintenance on the system and found it low on refrigerant, as the pressures reflected. There was dye in the system that leaked out revealing a leak that he technician showed the customer. I spoke to the gentleman and he confirmed he saw the dye and leak.. After a lengthy conversation with the gentleman, it appears that the deception might be from the competitive company trying to take the business for themselves by offering an inferior product at a cheaper price. We have an appt. with him next week with the service mgr to go over the system to confirm our findings.
