    The transaction occurred on 9-11-2024. Without knowing whether we would use their services, A & R Tree Service went ahead and obtained a permit to remove one of our trees. We opted not to use A & R Tree Service as we were not removing a tree, but only having it topped off and their estimate was rather high. We informed A & R Tree Service of our decision to go with another tree service the week of September 16, 2024. A & R Tree Service requested that we pay for the permit anyways. They charged me $105.00 for the permit (even though the county only charged them $88.84).Two weeks later, I spoke with the Hernando County Zoning supervisor and questioned the need to even have this permit. The Supervisor informed me that no permit was required to have tree maintenance performed by topping the tree, and she provided a copy of the zoning regulation to justify her statement.I then called A & R Tree Service and provided the information given to me by Hernand County Zoning Supervisor. The owner. Mr. ********* was very rude, told me that I didn't know what I was talking about and refused the information provided by the County Zoning. I requested to be reimbursed the $105.00 that he charged me for the permit that was obtained without my permission and before any contract was signed. I feel entitled to the $105.00 refund as the permit was not even necessary to perform the work on the tree that I wanted. I contacted Mr. ******** a second time and to no avail.
