I was in search of a moving company Friday and received a call from Eagle moving. Talked everything over with him. Agreed to allow them to move me. Gave them my checking account over the phone for the amount to come out on Wednesday. Friday afternoon after reconsideration I responded to one of the emails and requested the move be canceled. I received an email back almost immediately saying that the cancellation had been sent to the cancellation department and I should hear back from them tomorrow. Tomorrow was a Saturday so I didnt think anything of it when I remembered to contact them it was Tuesday. They told me I never filled out a cancellation form which I did not. However, I was never informed I needed to. I filled out the cancellation form Tuesday morning as I was requested to do And I was told I would get a phone call right back. I never got a phone call so I sent in another cancellation form Tuesday night and realized that they had taken my deposit out of my account by this time. It was supposed to have been canceled. they will not return my call. I was told that it was a forfeited deposit since I did not contact the proper department in time. This was told by a representative that happened to answer the phone when I called but it was not the correct department.

    Hello,

In your estimate that you signed when you signed up it does state that in order to cancel you need to submit a cancellation request in writing. It also states that we cannot promise a one day pick up window and usually it would be an additional cost if we were able to accommodate it. Unfortunately we would not be able to provide a refund at this time.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this is incorrect but resolution is satisfactory to me due to another email document that states I will get a check for the full amount 30 days after the payment was taken.  Per that email i will get a full refund by the 2nd week in April, 2023.  I was advised that if i didn't update the BBB that the check would not be processed.  If I do not get the check as stated in my email i will be updating this complaint.

    Sincerely,

Eagle Moving, (******) reached out to me via text, *************** had a conversation with him about my needs & he provided a Moving Estimate (E3935055) with an open-ended delivery date and open-ended delivery point.2/22-28 At that time he said to contact him directly when I knew the move date & delivery address. I did.He had to put in a pick-up date window to hold the contract & told me if I notified him ten days ahead of that date, he could change it. It was just a placeholder. He stated once I put down a deposit, I would have up to a year to use the estimate with my choice of date and time.He also stated if I booked while we were on the phone he would take $1500 off the estimate. It seemed to me I had enough of an out, regarding the pickup that I could be rest assured my needs would be met.I paid a deposit that day of $2986.81. We went over the details, with ****** telling me over the phone that I could choose the 24th or the 25th of February (his imaginary dates in the future), so he had both those dates down on the estimate. This morning I received a text from a company I did not know telling me that they would be at my storage unit at 9 am tomorrow and asked if that was that ok. I said no. *******/CS/ Logistics called this AM & said I would forfeit my deposit if the company they hired didn't pick up at 09:00 AM tomorrow - now less than 24 hours before the pick-up. I explained about emails w/******, a call w/*****, re: me wanting 2/25/23 as I had my son lined up for that day. After explaining the above he stuck to his guns about the signed contract. After explaining I was a widow (hence the ***** **** son had a physical therapy appt at 11, he bent to change it to pick up between ****. That prompted my son to cancel his needed appointment not sure he could be there by 12.***** says one thing, Logistics looks @ paperwork only & doesn't consult w/customer, emails aren't forwarded between departments with details from the customer. Mover in the dark.

    Hello,

We do apologize for the experience you are having with our company. However, we tried to accommodate your sons appointment in which he chose to cancel it. We had it worked out to where our guys would be there after the appointment. Unfortunately the truck broke down last night but we were able to get it dispatched last minute for pick up on the 2/25/23. As of this time there wouldn't be any discounts we can provide. The truck breaking down is out of our control but we have another team coming out to get you between 9am-12pm tomorrow.

Company fraudulently posed as a legitimate moving company, when they were actually a logistics broker. Prices were severely understated, which will lead to being double charged by broker for thousands and deceptively charged by subcontracted moving company for thousands of dollars, as well. Once possessions were taken from home for shipment, subcontractor cut phone off and was unreachable. Shipment delivery regularly pushed back by days and weeks, leaving family with small child without furniture for weeks. Moving company charges for storage past 30 days at minimum of $300, yet will not release household goods before 30-day period has lapsed, stalling delivery to skim fees. Family is still without possessions. Subcontracted movers have disappeared. Valuables are feared stolen by subcontractor and Eagle Moving will not answer calls. Will file police report for missing household goods.

    Hello,

We apologize for the experience you had with the company we assigned to facilitate your move. However, it does look like we spoke with you yesterday and not only confirmed the carriers phone number is active we also transferred you over to their office directly. We have confirmed with the carrier that they have spoken to you. You never provided the carrier with a delivery address nor did you provide a first available delivery date. They were notified today that you can accept delivery and they will be working on getting your delivery scheduled. They will be reaching out to you once the truck leaves the warehouse and is enroute for delivery.

This company was completely dishonest in their dealings. This lead to much higher pricing than necessary, delayed service and the company they put us in business with was so irresponsible that the amount of broken items from our move we will never receive proper value. Especially as some were family heirlooms. ********************* misrepresented almost everything just to get the business and then disappeared. First, his initial estimate was half the final price. He stated he would be available 24/7 to us and then went on vacation all throughout our move. He screwed up the date of the move, promising us it would be the 27th and it ended up being the 28th. He didn't do the following which the ***** website states he has to do: 1- Provide you with *****s Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet and the Ready to Move brochure; 2- Provide you with a list of the moving companies they use; 3- Have the mover that is transporting your shipment perform a physical survey of your household goods if they are within a 50-mile radius of the mover or its agent's location, whichever is closer. It is your option to waive this requirement. The Bill of Lading was $11,591.41, which is ok because we added some stuff. However, the final bill was closer to $16,000 and there was almost no difference between the final inventory list and the bill of lading. Definitely not enough for a $3000-$4000 difference. Interacting with the company was a nightmare. For days I couldn't get any answers on how things went wrong. They finally agreed to give me a "discount" of $400 but only if I agreed not to file anything with the *** or post any negative reviews about the company.

we are sorry you didnt have a good experience with our company or the carrier we assigned. We did supply you with all the correct information needed as per the fmcsa rule. Everything was in your signed estimate when reserving your move. You did need more cubic feet at the time of pickup and a revised estimate order was presented to you prior to loading which you agreed on.

After reviewing your file the most we can refund is a one time courtesy in the amount of $400.00 back to your card on file. Please call our office so we can process your refund.

Thank you for your email. I greatly appreciate the offer. However, it really isn't anything new from what they offered before I even contacted you. The only difference is that they haven't asked me to sign an NDA. I would be willing to settle for $800.

This move cost approximately $4000 more than the Bill of Lading which was extremely accurate. I recall being on the phone with **** who said, "I've never had a client come in way over with their costs as long as the inventory list was accurate". Well we were extremely accurate and yet it was $4000 more. On top of that, they messed up the date of the move which caused all sort of logistical problems. Regardless of what the contract stated, we were very specific with **** that it needed to be on a specific date and he said it wouldn't be an issue and that they needed to put a 2 day window on the contract by law. What's interesting is that the moving company told us that they could have accommodated if **** had actually told them that. So he didn't do his job.

Lastly, they clearly didn't care about the quality of the moving company they matched us up with because the amount of items broken in the move were quite large. We had entire wardrobe boxes smashed. Tables broken. A steel office chair literally broken off it's frame. All of these things were wrapped well. Clearly the damage occured at the warehouse of the company that moved us when they were either moving our stuff from the initial moving truck or into the truck for the cross country move.

As I said, I'm willing to settle, but I don't feel that $400 is a fair offer.

    Sincerely,

    *******************

We are able to do a one time courtesy refund in the amount of $400.00. This is the most we can refund and able to put back in your account.

I was given a price based on an inventory list of my belongings to be moved plus an allowance for 30 boxes. My inventory list did not change and I had 12 less boxes. I was given a 3 day window for my stuff to be delivered. They were to pick up my stuff on 1/5 and failed to show or call. I had to called them. Same thing on 1/6, missed the pick up window again. I was in an apt with utilities about to be shut off and was to be out no later than 1/6. After numerous frantic phone calls, Ocean Movers (not who I hired) showed up and added $700 to my cost! I asked why and showed them my contract and he told me my furniture was bigger?! I have a queen size bed, a dresser with mirror, 2 small tv stands, an 84 couch and a loveseat. I have 2 small end tables and normal size coffee table, a small round dining table with 4 wood chairs. Theres nothing large or oversized about any of my stuff. Ocean Moving Company had THE WORST ****** REVIEWS and I wouldve never hired them, ever!! I didnt! I hired Eagle Moving Group and was told THEY would be moving my stuff and have full communication with their drivers via dispatch at all time. They gave me a price and lowered it when I said I was waiting for other quotes. ***************** was my sales person and flat out lied during the ENTIRE transaction! After Ocean Moving loaded my stuff they had me come look how great it looked. But why?! He then explained it would be offloaded at a warehouse?! None of this was explained, at all! They then told me it be reloaded onto a truck going to ******* when one became available. Stated for **** mile moves it could take 21, TWENTY ONE days, to get my stuff. Im at 10 days and no one can give me any clear answers as to where my belongings are or when they might be to my new house. They are a shakedown team, period! I later learned Eagle Moving Group isnt a mover at all, but a broker. I wouldve never agreed to any of this, but wasnt told the truth! So they work in cahoots to shakedown customers!

This company not represent themselves properly. They did not make it clear that they were a brokerage company and as a result i did not receive my personal belongings for over the time they said i would get my things. My belongings were picked up on November 2nd 2022 : 10am. I did not recieve my items until December 9th 2022 . When I received my items they were all severly damaged. Boxes were dragged, wet , and broken. I lost my college diploma that was broken and wet. 1000's of dollars in shoe damage was made. and the original quote i was given changed immediately after my items were loaded on the truck. The bill was **** more than the original quote, and i was threatened that I would not get my things until i gave them cash. They would not accept anything but cash or zelle. So i could not protect myself. I was harrassed and threatened by the driver and in the end found out he hired a homeless man to move my things giving him 400 cash.

The carrier did pickup your goods and deliver them as stated.

for any inconvenience we can offer a one time refund in the amount of $50.00. Please call our customer service **** so we can process your refund.

On Oct 2022 I contacted Eagle moving for an estimate for a November move from ***** to ********. They gave me a quote, swore they are not brokers, I found out hard way that they didnt back their estimate, it costed me more than $1000 extra and the sales person ********************* vanishes once I made a deposit payment, unreliable and I felt with the most horrible move experience. I need them to review the estimate agreement and refund the balance I paid extra.

    Complaint: 18709283

I am rejecting this response because:

    1. What charged? After all this is not a moving company, they are BROKERs who is giving vague numbers and take their cut upfront, I also submitted a claim for my damaged items. This is not acceptable to take your share and ignore any issue that *** arise as one tried to move from State to State.
2.you didnt have any coordination with me after they got their cut, you made $2186 out of the moving cost and it costed my another $1000. This is absolutely unmet expectation by all means, your estimate is absolutely fake and you should take responsibility as a company. This is plain THIEFT.

    Sincerely,

    Beke Bedada

After reading all reviews at BBB - I hope they will compensate me & resolve this!Estimation process: Sales convinced me to buy instead of renting my own truck because he could get close to my budget. Granted, I did add items, and although those added items added A LOT more $ than I thought they would ($1000+). This second estimate was provided AFTER I gave EXACT measurements & a detailed inventory. I agreed to pay the additional -- however, when the driver met me at the door, he said, "there is no way this amount of items is only 539 cu ft!" (note this was BEFORE even seeing anything!! After he put it on the truck it was ALMOST double (AND YET I ADDED ZERO ITEMS TO THE AGREED UPON INVENTORY!!) I'm now in financial hardship as I budgeted $2000 based on salesman's estimates NOW it's $5000!!!! This was NOT MY ERROR - I anticipated a few 100 dollar difference (items can't be stacked or misjudged etc.) but $2000!!! difference -- that is NOT my mistake!Second issue is the timing of delivery, Family drove 6+ hours to help me unpack I shared my concern with 5 different staff for the needed date 12/29/22. ***** told me that there was a pick up near my new home scheduled for 2 days after my desired delivery date, "don't worry, if it doesn't arrive on your day, it will be the next day because we have to be there to pick up others!!) A lie -so far we're at 11 days past date! Then Special requests w/ customer service. THEN the driver specifically he said, "we will definitely be there by your date no problem" When I didn't hear from anyone I called and they said, "we aren't even in the office until January 3rd"!! As I write this, I still don't have my stuff, my family all left.THIS HAS BEEN A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Had I known about the costs AND about the timing I would done myself with a U-Haul truck!!I am hoping it will arrive today AND that significant financial compensation be made.Eagle Moving lacked integrity, lied, and deceived me!! Never use them!!

Your file is showing you did get your delivery, after reviewing your file we can offer a one time courtesy refund in the amount of $100.00 as your move was serviced properly from the carrier we assigned to your move

To make a long story short, we were contacted by this company to help us move to a different state. ********************* was nice and accommodating. He sold his company well as veteran owned and run and so we gave them a chance as veterans ourselves. We were quoted a reasonable price based on inventory, square footage, stairs involved, and items we wanted professionally wrapped and set everything up. We made a down payment of $2166 to lock in our move and delivery date. That was the last thing to go right. I have attached a word document of what happened after that. We ended up paying hundreds of dollars more than quoted for random extra fees and due to their inability to bring our things on time hundreds of dollars spent on hotels and basic necessities and food that we didn't have access to. Also, I was supposed to start my job on the 24th of October, but without my stuff I had to call them and push my start date back so I missed two weeks of work. Our baby had to stay with my parents, and we missed his first birthday due to not being able to bring him home to our empty house. Nothing was picked up on time, nothing was delivered on time. Almost all of our items were either damaged or completely broken. In fact, the only things not broken were the things my husband and I packed ourselves. The workers they sent to our house damages drywall that I had to repair. In our new house, the drywall was damaged, some railings of the steps were damaged, and a hole was knocked in our ceiling in the stairwell. During this process, **** suddenly was completely unavailable. He did not respond to any phone calls, voice mails, or emails that were sent to him. I even had another associate tell me that I could not talk to him anymore, that he could not help me. I reached out to their quality assurance person, and they said they would look into it, but I never received a reply. I quit taking pictures after I got too upset. I can send more if needed.

*******, we are very sorry you did not have a good experience with our carrier, however the reason your price changed is at pickup you had more items then what you reserved for the carrier did explain this to you prior to loading and you did agree on the price. As for your delivery we apologize we didn't hit the window you requested for delivery, however the carrier was in the correct time frame for delivery based on the window spread.

After looking over your file we can offer a one time courtesy refund in the amount of $200.00

I am rejecting this response because:

I find their response to everything for a lack of better term insulting and callous. I will admit that I didn't read the contract closely enough beforehand that said that if the driver quoted a different price than anticipated to stop them before they start and call the company, but that is not what happened. The only comment that was said prior to loading our things was that he didn't think that it was all going to fit in the truck. I was not quoted a different price till after he had loaded everything on the truck.  I was originally quoted around **** bucks, but by the time everything was said and done, I handed over a little more than **** bucks in total. Around **** up front and then another **** on delivery plus an extra 200 for steps in the condo that I had told them about. So, between that, the absolute lack of professionalism from everyone I had contact with in the company, both associates, and delivery people, one of which accused me of stealing, the fact that almost everything they touched was delivered to us damaged in some way and countless family heirlooms completely broken, the fact that some of our stuff never even made it, and then the damage to both the house we moved out of and the one we moved into, their offer of 200 dollars is not enough in any way. The family heirlooms that were broken cannot be replaced and I am not asking of them the amount of money we have had to pay to fix things or for the accommodations we had to make while waiting on them to deliver our items, I am merely asking us to be made whole again or even partially whole by a company that literally kept none of the promises that were made to us by their associate. Even a partial refund would be accepted.

    Sincerely,
