8/15/2025 We entered into a contract to have work done in our home. This same day we gave the contractor ****** ******* a check for $8000. Verbally agreed upon a start date of 8/25/2025. Was told that the work would take 2 weeks to complete. 8/25/2025- Subcontractors came and started the work which took 3 days to completely remove all old flooring, baseboards, toilet, mirror and vanity. Followed by the next set of subcontractors whom put in the tile flooring and grouted said tile. 9/8/2025- Cailyn came to start the installation of the new baseboards and to put in new sink, faucets vanity, toilet and mirror to be followed up with painting the bathroom and any touch *** needed due to the door frames and walls damaged by the demolition of floor removal of baseboards and bathroom etc. Prior to starting he asked for another check for $6000. which we gave ****** of today 9/11/2025 the baseboards are not finished and none of the bathroom has been finished the toilet is still in the box and the vanity is in the kitchen. Nothing is completed and we want a refund or have him come back and finish what he agreed to do. He walked out on the job.

This client was in direct breach of contract when they decided to harass me about completing the project daily.

I showed up and completed my work in a timely manner as their timeline states. This project was 95% complete before I walked out. The Customer still owes $800 for work to be done.

I will not be bullied by anyone. Furthermore, my contract does NOT have a time clause.

I am rejecting this response because: We paid you 96% of contracted price and you only completed 75% of the work. The toilet, vanity, sink, mirror are still sitting in the kitchen/dining area. Floorboards need installing painting and caulking. None of the furniture was put back into place plus it was filthy because it wasn't covered as you assured it would be . We did not and I repeat did not ask you daily when the job would be finished. You showed up usually around 9:30 10 and left on average at 3:30 4 only 4 days per week. At the start of the job you were asked how long from start to finish and you said and I quote "give me 2 weeks just to be on the safe side." We did not "bully" you we were fair and business like. You were the one who lost his temper and screamed at my husband that there's another bathroom upstairs when he told you that he's 81 years old and it is getting tiring going up and down stairs to use the restroom several times a day. Offered you lunch and on one occasion ate pizza with us. We were going to hire your wife to do a post construction clean as well. We wholly reject that we owe you anything as the job is not complete. We are now going to be forced to hire someone else to complete the job which will be between $2000. & $3000. We are asking for you to give us a refund of $2000. so that we can get this taken care of. If not we may be forced to take further action.

    Sincerely,

    ******* & ********* ******

I am rejecting this response because:

Attached is a copy of the contract that was requested be sent. In it you will see the payment guidelines were $8000 up front, $5000 upon completion of the tile and the remainder to be paid upon completion of all other work. We paid the $8000 up front and then gave $6000 but the work has not been completed.

    Sincerely,

    Business Response

    Dear *** or Madam,

I am writing in response to the complaint filed against my business regarding a remodeling project performed for ********* and ******* ******. I would like to provide clarification and context regarding my decision to remove myself from the project.

Throughout the course of the job, my team and I maintained a consistent work schedule and made steady progress toward completion. There were no days missed, and the project was advancing at a reasonable pace. Despite this, my workers and I were subjected to daily questioning and pressure from the homeowner regarding when the job would be completed. This created a hostile and stressful work environment that made it increasingly difficult to continue work in a professional manner.

Additionally, the homeowner was in repeated breach of contract. Most notably, they failed to pay for a plumbing change order that was necessary to continue the work as planned. This nonpayment directly violated the terms of our agreement and placed my company at financial risk.

Furthermore, during the course of the project, the homeowner requested that I falsely report to their insurance company that mold had been discovered in the home. They indicated that this would allow them to collect additional insurance funds. I made it clear that I could not and would not participate in any form of insurance fraud or misrepresentation.

Given the ongoing breaches of contract, nonpayment, and the unethical request to commit fraud, I determined that it was in my best interest and in accordance with professional standards to withdraw from the project. My decision was made solely to protect the integrity of my business and to maintain compliance with legal and ethical obligations.

I have documentation, including the signed contract, change orders, and correspondence, that supports the statements above and can provide them upon request.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I remain committed to conducting my business in an honest, professional, and lawful manner, and I appreciate the opportunity to provide clarification.

    Sincerely,
    ****** *******
