A running list of complaints I have trying to refinance my student loans: -Was provided a quote through Get My Rate that was $400/month lower than the actual price, despite perfect credit and zero discrepancies in information provided -It took College Ave 34 days to provide a response to my application, requiring me to submit documents multiple times because they misplaced them -While College Ave decided to take their sweet time processing my application, the interest rate for their loans increased by 1% -I received zero emails from College Ave about the status of my loans during the process Because of this, I wrote to my union, the NEA, to stop recommending people use College Ave for their services. I am disappointed in their service and would not recommend anyone uses College Ave for any service they offer. I will never be a customer to this reputably questionable business.

I was approved for my loan and got it certified by my school super quick. However, I was told what my disbursement date would be, only for that date to come and the loan not to be disbursed. I spoke with 2 separate representatives, one of which told me the disbursement date (this date also matched the date listed in the app). The second representative I talked to was on the date that disbursement was to occur. I called about 15 minutes before 5pm after I was notified by my school that no money was disbursed. On this phone call I was told I needed to wait 6 more days, then the loan would be put through a second certification process with the school, and after that a new disbursement date would be selected. It’s been 2 days, and the app says disbursement is tomorrow. This loan process has been nearly a month now and no resolution has come from it.

We’re sorry you were provided with the incorrect date, that’s not the level of service you should expect from College Ave. Disbursement dates are set by the school and a mandatory right to cancel period is always included in case you change your mind. The loan process has been pretty seamless so far. We have not had any issues with the application, approval or payment from College Ave plus it’s been quick and easy to set up repayment. We don’t have the world best interest rate but I’m not sure it’s any worse than any other college loans. I have been a satisfied customer for the past year and a half. All good so far. Hoping things continue to be this easy on future loans.

My daughter (with a co-signer) could not get approved for her last year of school and caused me to come out of pocket for her last year’s tuition and housing. I now found her crying in her room because she has paid back over $26k and only lessened her balance total balance $10k. When trying to work with them she gets “you have to do that on-line” This is why there is a student loan crisis, company’s like this one make it impossible to repay and continue to make huge profits off of young adults trying to have a good start.

Application/approval process was not a problem, but my loan for my son's college tuition and housing was not paid for Fall 2023 and was even canceled, and College Ave did not notify me at all of any issues. The app stated the loan was in progress awaiting the college's certification, and there was nothing I needed to do. After I contacted College Ave to check on the loan status when the bill wasn't paid, they confirmed the loan was canceled due to an expired credit check from July. The loan wasn't even scheduled to pay until earliest mid-August, so that credit check would then have expired anyway so their process makes no sense other than to cause a customer to reapply at a higher interest rate. I'll never be a customer for College Ave (college plans were already made, move-in already occurred causing added stress) after experiencing the worst customer service. Another student loan company now has my business who will actually provide student loans. For me, College Ave was a scam; they offered no remedy for their lack of diligence and notification.

All private student loans must be certified by the school before we send them the funds. The school didn’t respond to the request, so the offer expired, and the loan was canceled. Honestly, this loan service was the best that I could find. It didn't take long at all and I was approved immediately. Interest rates were a little high but no higher than other loan companies.

This was it. This was the only one that would accept me and my dad as a co-signer. This is the loan that is allowing me to relax and enjoy college without having to worry too much about the payments.

Application and dispersement was easy and timely. However I cannot access the account on the website or the app. I’m getting the same error message. Now I feel like it’s a scam to get extra money for late interest payments. At this point, I would not recommend.

Hi CM - We're sorry for any confusion. While your loan is waiting to be disbursed, you can create an account on the mobile app but not on our servicing portal. Our mobile app lets you track disbursements and once the funds are sent to the school, you can access the website to manage your loan. We are going to contact you to assist with this process.
