I purchased a "platinum" 5-year warranty from this company for $3,500 in May, 2023. I was told multiple times during the sales process that I could cancel at anytime and receive a pro-rated refund for any unused time, based off of my initial $3,500 purchase. I called to cancel less than 9 months into the policy (I never submitted a claim and just decided I didn't need it). My prorated refund was supposed to be greater than $3,000. However, I was told by Jon Davis that I'd be receiving $1,100 off of a "market rate" price set by them. When I asked how this was calculated and to validate it, he refused to tell me, simply replying "this is what it is." I followed up 6 times in emails and phone calls, and received no further explanation. I asked where in the contract it stipulates this "market rate," (despite being assured by the salesperson ***** ****** that the proration amount would be based off of the $3,500 rate) Jon Davis could not point to the source of this secret calculation. It was as if he just wanted me to accept his diminished offer without asking questions ($2,000+ less than what I was owed and represented to me during the sales pitch by ***** ******). I finally gave up and told them to just send me the check, I was exacerbated by the runaround. John said it was being sent out that day (I have all this in email exchanges). After calling multiple times a week and receiving no response, and after emailing many times, a full month passed. I finally got Jon to answer his cell phone. He responded "yeah, I thought that was sent out...are you sure you just don't want to keep your policy?" After telling him I had kept meticulous records of all our interactions and would be contacting an attorney, he finally agreed to send out the check. This company should not be in business. They misrepresented the refund policy, lied about the proration process, and lied throughout the cancellation process in hopes I'd "give up."

I purchased an extended warranty on 4/2/2021 as follows:
    Policy Number 8587795
    Plan Selected Platinum
    Policy Holder ***** ******
Vin Number ***************** Covered Vehicle 2019, Ford, F-350 20,000 Miles
Coverage Term May-02-2021 To May-02-2026 or 96,000 Miles
    Deductible $100
    Coverage Start 05/02/2021 & 1000 Miles
    Cost $2300

My truck broke down March 13, 2024 and I took it to the Ford Dealer that I purchased the vehicle from for repair after filing a warranty claim with Select Auto Protect. The truck odometer was at 40k miles. The dealer diagnostics confirmed that a steering gearbox had failed and quoted $3,200 for repair. Select Auto sent an inspector to verify and in fact verified that the steering gearbox failed. After two weeks, Select Auto Protect denied the claim and stated that it would not be covered. Their reasoning was that the truck had after market shocks on the truck which it does but the dealer confirmed that shocks have nothing to do with the steering gearbox. Also, when I purchased the extended warranty in 2021, the shocks were listed and disclosed as an aftermarket upgrade on the truck. Select Auto Protect stated that this would not affect the warranty. After numerous calls from the dealer and myself Select Auto Protect has continued to deny coverage. After three weeks in this process, I requested a refund of the prorated amount of the warranty. Select Auto Protect said I would actually owe them money if I canceled the warranty. They could not produce a formula for the prorated refund amount calculation. I am only into the warranty 20,000 miles out of 96,000 miles of coverage and 3 years of 5 year coverage. There should be some prorated amount refunded back to me. This is my complaint that they will not correctly calculate a prorated refund amount of the initially paid $2,300 fee.

I purchased an auto warranty on July 18, 2023. I took my car to the dealership for a repair on March 8, 2024, and the claim was denied by Select. They tell me the exact part is not listed in the policy, although the policy states almost every other part that would be replaced during this process.

I purchased an extended Platinum warranty from Auto Select Protect on September 5th, 2023 (Policty No. 8591793), for $2,068, with a two-year coverage period that became effective on October 5th, 2023. Unfortunately, when I attempted to utilize this warranty for the first time in January 2024, my claim was unjustly denied. Since then, I have repeatedly requested the cancellation of this policy, but my efforts have been met with continuous disregard from Auto Select Protect.

This situation is unacceptable and demonstrates a clear failure on the part of Auto Select Protect to honor their contractual obligations. I have been patient and reasonable in my attempts to resolve this matter, yet I am met with nothing but evasion and silence.

Therefore, I am seeking the intervention of the Better Business Bureau to compel Auto Select Protect to fulfill their duty by canceling my policy and issuing a full refund of $2,068. This is not merely a request for assistance; it is a demand for justice and accountability. I expect a prompt and favorable resolution to this issue.

I purchased warranties from Select Auto Protect Aug 16 2023; the warranties would take effect one month after being purchased. My wife's Lincoln MKX was having what we thought were minor problems (some hesitation, and the check engine light came on) she took her car in 22 Sep 2023 (6 days after the warranty went in effect). I talked to claims and authorization at 4:27 p.m. o 15 Feb 2024, to asked why the claim had been denied. Was told that when we purchased the warranty her car had 54,000 miles, now her car has only 57,354. I was told by claims that her car should have had more miles then it now has. We are a two car household, since we both have been retired since 2018 and 2019, I do almost all the driving in my F150 truck, and just for context, my F150 had at the time we purchased the warranties, 56,193 miles, I now only have 60,607. Not only do we not drive alot, we were out of the country for the month of October. Basically, what the claims person told me, was that this had to be a pre-existing problem with the car because of the low milage on her car at the time she took it in. The warranty company asked that we send to them 3 years of maintenance records, which we did, we take our cars in about every 5,000 miles for any maintenance and service repair, outside of that if something is wrong with the car we take it in to have it worked on. Some of documents that has been uploaded, are maintenance records from the shop were we purchased our vehicles from. In addition, copies of both warranty cover pages for the lincoln MKX and the Ford F150 shows the beginning miles for both. To get the MKX repaired (it's the Transmission) it'll will be approximately, $7,900; I have authorized Accelerate Auto in Colorado Springs, Co. to repair and fix the car.

I purchased an extended car warranty for $2200. With a cancel option if I traded or sold the car. Purchased in April 9th. Policy 8590870. It started on 5/5. I cancelled the warranty on 11/20. Since 11/20 I have been told the check has been cut and mailed every 14 days when I call I'm told to wait a-little longer. I am currently due $1079 in refund for the policy I did not use, last call I made was yesterday 1/30 and I was told my check was cut on 1/3. And they would call me back, still like all the other times no call back.

On Jan 16, 2024, Auto select called me. I need an extended auto warranty. They said this would only cost me 19.99 needless to say they charged me $1,999.99. I called them the next day to cancel it because I was told by ***** ****** that I had 30 days to decide if I wanted it or if I want it cancelled. When I called him and talk to him the next day, he then transfers me to the cancellation department, which then the call drops. I bought an extended car warranty from Select Auto Protect on Aug. 1, 2023. The "policy" went into effect on Sept 1, 2023. I filed a claim in late November which was denied based on a "pre-existing issue" after a review of an inspector report, which neither I or my mechanic received a copy of. I subsequently canceled my policy and requested a refund. I was told that my prorated refund on the 1800 on the warranty which we held for only 3 months was $1000. Amongst the things deducted were two different cancelation fees, an administrative fee and the fee for the inspector who examined the car at their request. Select Auto Protect is a scam. They have no intention of honoring their policies and should face criminal charges.

I purchased an auto warranty from Select Auto Protect on Sep 29 2022 with a 3-year or 117,000 mile coverage term for $2,100. The terms of the agreement include a cancellation clause that state:

"... If a federal odometer statement is provided at the time of cancelation, the pro-rated reimbursement may be calculated on a per mile basis. ..."

I placed a phone call on 9/13/2023 to Select Auto Protect's cancellation deprartment and was told that if I submit the DMV sale paperwork I would be entited to refund of the entire amount minus a 15 cents per mile proration fee. Based on the ~4000 miles put on the car since the start of the policy, I should be entitled to a refund of $1500. I submitted the DMV paperwork via email on 9/13/2023 to [email protected] and received no response.

On 9/20/2023 I called Select Auto Protect and I was told that I was only eligible for a "$50" refund based on the "industry standard" proration rate of $150 per month. This is not listed anywhere in the contract and I am request the full $1500 due to me as listed in the agreement.

I have made multiple attempts at a resolution and they are now refusing to accept my calls.
