BEFORE AUTHORIZING ANY REPAIRS, ASK FOR AN ITEMIZED WRITTEN ESTIMATE!! Detailed below is how this company engaged in deceptive practices and violated the law. I had my car towed to Paul Campanella’s (Hockessin)on 12/11/2023, due to two flat tires. The reviews associated with this company lead me to believe that I would have been more than satisfied with my overall experience. I could not have been more wrong! The morning after the car was dropped off, I received a phone call, which quoted an estimated bill of $2,800.00 to repair everything. Keep in mind, I was NOT provided with an estimated price for the auto repair work specifically pertaining to the parts and labor as well as any surcharge, which they are REQUIRED BY LAW to provide. See TITLE 6—Chapter49A Auto Repair Fraud Prevention—§ 4904A-Estimate requirements for auto repair work. I did not find this out until days after the incident. Upon receiving the invoice, I noticed there was an additional $79.80 charge for road hazard. They threw that extra charge on there without my knowledge or consent. Additionally, I did some research and discovered I was overcharged for everything, in true price gouging fashion. I was charged $16.26 for a lug nut; retail price is $2.29. I was charged $50.5 per spark plug (totaling $202 for 4). Retail price is 19.99 (totaling $79.96 for 4). I was charged $190.66 per strut (totaling $381.32 for 2). Retail price for the exact same strut is $109 (totaling $218 for 2). Also, the labor fee they charged for this was $624.82. Out of curiosity, I called another auto repair shop (located in Newark) who quoted me $90 for labor. I was charged $199.84 per tire (totaling $799.36) Retail price is $110.91 per tire totaling ($443.64). The manager (Tariq) flat out lied to me about the brand of struts they installed. He told me they were KYB, when they were CARQUEST, which is much cheaper. This further proves my point with being unfairly overcharged.
