I scheduled an appointment at Mental Edge Counseling based on a referral that I received from a friend. I scheduled the appointment and explained to the receptionist that I was seeking medication management for ADHD, and NOT for counseling. At the first appointment with a counselor named Janet, I completed an ADHD screening questionnaire and answered all of Janet's questions. At the end of the appointment, I mentioned medication management, and she was surprised and said that she thought I was only there for counseling. I explained to her that I told the receptionist this when I initially scheduled the appointment, but for some reason, this was apparently not relayed to Janet. Regardless of the miscommunication between the receptionist and Janet, Janet assured me that if I came back for 2 more appointments, I could then begin medication management. At the time of my last appointment, Janet informed me that she in fact could NOT begin me on medication management, and stated that she would need to refer me to another office. Because of the employee's misinformation, I wasted my time coming in for 2 more appointments. I also had to take off work for the appointments. I should have been advised after my first appointment that I would not be able to receive medication management and that I would need to be referred out to another office. Had I been informed of this, I would never have come back for two more appointments. I tried to reach out to the manager of Mental Edge Counseling to resolve the issue and was told that because I "received services", my bill could not be adjusted. I accept that I should pay for my first appointment, but in NO WAY does it make sense for me to pay for the other two appointments.

I have had a bad experience as a parent with Mental Edge Counseling. The business charges patients $100 in cancellation, no-show fees, which is very strict. Our therapist has canceled on us last minute three times. What type of penalties do the staff experience when a patient in need is canceled at the last minute? I do not feel they really value their patients. I was referred from a friend and I really wish I’d never come here.
