This occurred May 1st 2025. My motorcycle was stolen from my back yard despite it being fenced, covered and locked. I called the police which they then notified me a tow company picked it up for safe keeping. I was then informed by both the police and tow company that the bike was not damaged. I walked an hour over with a helmet expecting to drive it home but when I arrived I was met with rude customer service and the bike being heavily damaged especially the ignition that it was not drivable. I then called a separate tow company to pick it up to take it to a shop. I took pictures of before and after. I was charged 200$ because they towed my vehicle and stored it in a location without my consent so I was done with giving them more money. I switched to using Recovery 1 towing which gave me good customer service, price, and are significantly more reputable due to their reviews. In between the handoff between the two tow companies the bike was damaged even further. The left shifter which was fine before is now completely broken and slammed down. The second ****** took pictures before picking it up and did not touch the bike at all expect for loading it on to his truck bed from the street. It would be very weird and unusual for a bike to have that happen to a shifter through simply putting the bike on to a bed. I believe that first tow company either did more damage accidentally to my bike moving it or retaliated for me using a separate company. They are very sketchy and I do believe they heavily damaged my bike and aren't claiming any responsibility. At this point I just want a refund of the money I was forced to pay after my bike was stolen. Both tow companies have different stories however I believe Recovery 1 because I was able to actually call the boss and had a solid half hour conversation but when I call the first tow company I am hit with this I don't care attitude and call back Monday for a manager. I am not the first ****** something like this has happened to.
