I completed my courses in July of 2024 and was told I would receive my college diploma within 6-8 weeks. I've reached out to them beginning December 2024. Did not receive it. Was able to secure a government job with my transcript however they will not promote me without the my diploma; and am also in jeopardy of losing the job I actually have.Initial Complaint

My daughter is a second year student at Howard University. She has been at school since Aug of 2024. Her Parent Plus Loan was accepted back in July of 2024. Since then, the university failed to attach her MPN (Mastor Promissory Note). Resulting in her loan expiring in Dec. 2024. As a result I had to reapply for the loan, which gave me another hard inquiry on my credit. She was accepted again as of 1.7.25. Since, they still have not processed her loan. They have hired a third party company to answer the calls in financial aid department. Which they have no answers for you. My child just returned to school as of 1.11.25. There is still a hold on her account, which is not allowing her to register for classes that were supposed to start today 1.13.25. She is sitting in the financial aid department currently with 500 or more other students. Still no answers. No holds have been lifted. And her account is still in red. Which means none of her funds from the department of education have been applied. I filed a complaint with Student aid as well. Still awaiting info from their findings.Initial Complaint

I am writing to express my frustration regarding the financial aid situation for my daughter, ******* Miller *************** has been awarded approximately $30,644 in aid, while her total costs amount to only $26,566. This should result in a credit balance of $4,078, yet her account currently reflects a refund status of $0. Additionally, she has been informed that she owes $575, which is completely unacceptable and requires immediate **************** is bewildering to see such discrepancies, and I demand to know what the $575 charge represents. Furthermore, when can we expect to see the credit balance that is rightfully owed to her?I expect a prompt and thorough response to this matter.Initial Complaint

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about the widespread issues with missing financial aid disbursements and scholarships. Numerous students have reported that their financial aid packages are incomplete or incorrect, leading to significant distress and confusion. Many students are receiving incorrect aid amounts, excessive loan disbursements in place of their expected scholarships, or no aid at all. This financial uncertainty has left students unable to cover essential living expenses such as rent, food, and necessary school resources like textbooks. It is now week 6 for first-year students and week 5 for second- and third-year law students, and the lack of resolution continues to cause disruptions in their academic and personal lives. On September 10, 2024, Howard Universitys Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Tashni-*** ******, ****** addressed the students and assured that all scholarships would be posted to their accounts within 24 hours by close of business. Unfortunately, this promise has not been fulfilled, further escalating the frustration. This situation not only affects Howard Law students but also speaks to broader systemic issues at historically Black institutions, where financial instability and administrative challenges disproportionately impact students.I am missing my scholarship money which leads to be having a smaller refund amount.Initial Complaint

We submit payment for my sons tuition through a parent plus loan and we are supposed to receive a refund from the loan payment - which is used to pay for off campus housing. Howard **** received proceeds from the loan on 8/16. The refund was processed on 8/29. We have not received the refund. Howard **** has fraudulently processed a stop payment request - indicating that I submitted a written request. Howard **** does not provide a live person to speak with to resolve financial issues. As parents we get the bill from this school but they do not want to speak with us.Initial Complaint

Professor missed numerous classes and also left early the entire semester. He agreed to accept my project of I left it in the classroom and sent sent a picture of it as he’d left early when I attempted to report after an appt. He said he’d update my grade from a B to an A. He then procrastinated saying not to worry bc he could do it the next semester (spring), but then claimed he had covid and would submit a request to the Dean. Later he ignored my messages after I sent him documention of my disability that he told the assistant Dean would be enough for him to go ahead and update it. I contacted HU Cares by email and even sent s formal request to meet the president. The Dean of students was emailed but never responded. The assistant Dean claimed it’s under review yet more months have gone by with no response. It is now the end of the summer term with a new fall semester coming in august yet my grade was not updated. The professors don’t post any grades the entire semester then the school ignored any notice grades are not being placed properly. I earned As on all my work and did what was asked of me when the professor agreed yet they have not updated it which affects our academic scholarships at Howard and gpa needed to secure resources from outside scholarships yet they have no issue demanding money. I pay for an education and work hard for my grades. This is supposed to be a higher education institution yet they are not providing the service we pay for. I’d like my grade or to be reimbursed for that course.Initial Complaint
